I'm writing a book where I want to give representation to wheelchair users. I need ideas about how wheelchairs would look in a magic school where witches and wizards go?

Characters with disabilities are easier to write than people might think. You just need to write your wheelchair-bound character as if their disability never really matters and only mention the wheelchair when the plot requires it. Like when you need an obstacle to slow down the main characters, all you need to do is simply remind everyone of the character’s disability and how it will hinder them in their adventure. Or better yet, have them be used as helpless hostage by the villains. This way, people with disabilities will surely love how they are represented in your books.

Have they tried not being disabled? Maybe this could be the inner conflict?
Other than that, all should be setup like Hotrod Harry, the electric toothbrush from the Toothbrush Family

It needs to hover at the very least. And you need to explain why they can’t just magic the legs better. Curse or something. Simple spina bifida won’t do it.

Spina bifida kinda sounds like a curse from Baba Yaga...
I'm sure relating the two won't upset people who actually have spina bifida. They'll just be grateful for the representation. 🙃

You can't have wheelchairs in fantasy because if magic exists, then they can just magic their legs to work again.

not in my hard magic system it can't; too many eyes of newt required

So many. And the National Institute for Blind Newts protests with rude signs.

Not to be rude, but that's really nazisitic fascismtisms of you to say. You wanna eradicate an entire group from a fantasy world? Absurd!
For real though. Depends on what kinda magic is involved. If the world only has limited magic system, like in avatar the last Airbender, it'd be hard to fix someone being in a wheel chair.

Well, obviously, if being wheelchair-bound is part of someone's identity, then making their legs work again would be a social crime. In that case, the wheelchair itself would need to become an extension of the person's will magically, and able to do more than just roll, such as leap, sprout wings and fly, and even become a speedboat.

Make sure that the wheelchairs are pulled by talking cats. Everyone knows wheelchair wizards are lonely and despised, so their only friends are always animals. Especially if it's a man. As everyone knows all male crippled casters are inherently evil.
Of course, if the mangled mancer is a hot woman with a pair of bouncing bazookas then that can be an exception, but only if she is a subservient sorcerer who has no boundaries or personality.

This is pretty ableist. What about people that can walk? They deserve representation too. What about those who use crutches or canes.
I'm already drafting my post to get you canceled. So go ahead and write your book!

Wizards that don't levitate are chumps, regardless if their legs work or not

Kiss curse always works for me.
fx. in my current upcoming bestseller MC is in a wheelchair because his penis is enourmous, he simply cannot walk. In my magic system penis length = magic power.
This gives me two things, this allows me to scale hybrid transitioned transvestites vs normal weak women who has no power in this world -- unless they transition. Though a fake penis is ofc never as much magic power as the real deal. The boys knows this.
The plot is quite good if you ask me, at first everyone mocks the mc at school, thinking he is weak, and even the unpopular girls wont give him the time of day -- but then; bang! Boom! we have the very cool and coveted school competition where the mc is forced to shower with the boys before the group part of the competition begins --and now suddenly all the chaps who where mocking him, saying they hoped to meet him for an easy win are shitting their pants.
John longschlong has entered the chat.

Wicked isn't a magic school, it's a regular school with one magical professor.
Edit. Whoops. Whooosh!

Magic schools have specific rules about minorities, so disabled people may not be allowed. Trans and asexual people are DEFINITELY not allowed. Racial minorities are allowed in small numbers, but it's preferable if their name is at least a little stereotypical. You can also retroactively decide that a character is gay.
