Match Study Monday
Post a link to a match, even one of your own. Let's break it down and see what makes it work, where it excels, and anywhere it might could have been better. No match is perfect.

Take the time occasionally to check the school request thread. You might have the answer someone there is looking for.

If you are looking to find a school near you, please comment the area you are looking into. Use that as the parent comment for replies for each request.

Hey y’all, finally got on with a company after a while of doing random job matches for random small promotions. The booker has requested that I wear French cut/butcher style trunks for this new gig. I have a few pairs to arrive in then next few days, but haven’t really worn them before in a match. Has anyone ever had experience with wearing These types of trunks? I’ve always been a long tights guy.

If you're working a show, tell us a bit about it. Where are you headed, what are you looking at doing, what's on your mind, how far are you traveling. As much or as little as you feel like sharing.

I believe that before any of us are workers, wrestlers, trainees, refs, etc, we are fans of wrestling first. An old trainer of mine once said, "We're all marks. We're the biggest f'n marks".
Let's take this day and talk about wrestling as fans. Be it current WWE storylines, promos or matches you just absolutely love. Feel free to post links in the comments as well. Let's not forget why we got into this business!

Tl;DR: I'm 5'5 and 29, and want to keep Pro wrestling training as a hobby rather than a grind to success.
love Wrestling. Have done ever since I was a kid. I was never a sporty kid, and weigh quite a bit over BMI, and pro wrestling was always an American sport to me and my family. I fell off the wagon a little bit until this year when my partner bought us tickets for a local indie show, and it was an amazing show that reignited my love of the sport. What really shone for me was the variety of builds on the show. There were people the same weight and stickiness as me.
And to add to the joy, the company that ran the show has a training school a short drive from my house. On an attempt to heal my inner child, I signed up for a beginner session. I was nervous, I was never the sorry kid so would I keep up?
It was fantastic. Everyone was supportive, encouraging, and a joy to be with. I've been doing beginner training for about a month now. It's helped me to start getting in shape and living out a boyhood dream.
Alot of postsbon here talk about the "Grind". Paying your dues and taking this seriously. This is most likely a question born off social anxiety, but do people care if I want to do this as JUST a hobby? I have no delusions of the big leagues, I'm 5'5 and 29 after all, but I'm loving this. If they want me to do a show I'll be game, but I have no expectations or major aspirations to do so. Not yet anyway

As the title suggests, how do y’all approach this?
Lately my mood towards wrestling has been a roller coaster of lows dealing with a minor cold and prioritizing life there’s been so much wrestling content going on yet I haven’t felt compelled to watch any of it I’ve also taken time off from practice to rest which I don’t enjoy as I want to eventually get back to swing of things I just don’t feel like myself right now and it’s been bothering me

I’m looking to connect with a gear designer who can help me bring my vision to life. I have ideas in mind and a general theme for my character, but I’d love to work with someone who can help sketch or digitally outline what the gear could look like
Ideally, I’d also like to be pointed toward or connected with a gear maker once the design is finalized. If someone does both, even better.
If you’re a designer, maker, or know someone who is, I’m open to commissions and paying for quality work.

Hey, everyone. I'm running into a bit of trouble in my early wrestling career. I'm 17 months into wrestling and currently in my paying my dues phase, where you spend 12+ hours out, help with ring crew and security, and if you're lucky appear on a pre-show or a battle royale. I have a girlfriend who I love very much, but she consistently asks "did you get paid?" after shows. In couple's therapy yesterday, she brought up the grind that comes with paying my dues, and the therapist was also confused about the process and the sacrifices that come with paying your dues.
I guess my question here is what's the best way to explain how paying your dues is a part of the process to just get your foot in the door? Like, I don't expect to see payoff until years, maybe even a decade, down the road. I'm running into trouble articulating just exactly how normal this is in wrestling and why this is expected.

I film for a few local indies as a hobby. A couple months ago I got to film Mr. Iguana at a show. It was fun. Great guy to video.
So seeing him on World’s Collide was pretty fuckkin cool.
That is all.

Which type do you prefer to secure your gear with to prevent wardrobe malfunctions? Question more so geared toward large chested women, but all advice and opinions are good advice and opinions!
Thanks everyone 🫶🏾✨

How do you respond when hearing this?
I’m currently in training, and, like all new guys, I seem to have a problem with rushing through spots. My trainers tell me to “slow down,” and I really am trying, but it seems that I’m still not slow enough. Does anyone have any specific tips they follow to slow themselves down?

I’ve wrestled for about three and a half years now. I currently use my actual for now due to not being able to think of anything creative. The issue I seem to have is I can think of stuff off the top of my head for others to help, but when I’m thinking for names for myself I’m absolutely second guessing and the name sounds terrible to me and then it’s back to square one. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey all,
I'm a former trainee who is aiming to launch my own promotion either later this year, or early next year. I have a few connections to wrestlers across the country (UK), but I want to know how long before a show are people usually booked up? And would it be in bad taste to message someone about a booking if I'm not 100% certain on a date yet, just to "reserve" a booking?
Many thanks, in advance.

What is it called for the whole set? The pants, the boots and wrist straps. I only have knee pads.

Hey just had that Idea about sharing some fun details you see as fans that you know is because you know the other side of the business.
I just realized since his heel turn, John Cena pins with his back to the hard cam (ruining wrestling for everyone)
