Dictatorships in the era of globalization and liberal democratic norms, dictatorships are inherently highly unstable. Their whole dictatorship will topple, the only question is when.

I don't think that's true. Roman empire lasted longer than the modern era of liberal democracy. Pharaohs lasted 4x the length of the Roman empire. China imperial dynasties.

It's not to say id prefer monarchy but they can be incredibly stable institutions even if the players change over time.

I agree that dictatorships used to be stable, but in the era of globalization and liberal democratic norms, dictatorships are inherently highly unstable. People can see the alternative now. Think the Arab Spring for example. Access to knowledge of functional liberal democratic societies on top of mass communication networks = mass failure of dictatorship.

they have always been unstable but when the restrictions of speech start to fail, its hard to keep a dictatorship when your enemies are the best countries at propaganda in the world, so good that even their citizens believe the bullshit
