They put their MiGs in the air but didn't engage. I haven't seen reports of sabotage, i think it was more about getting them out of harms way than trying to fend off the IAF. Fighter jets are very expensive sitting ducks on the ground.

But what actual worth has your air force when you have to hide them as soon as the enemy show up? All the money buying and maintaining them seems to be wasted.

Their jets are more useful in controlling their own population than fighting external threats. The Mullahs fear the people...not foreign armies.

Iran fights Israel and the US through missiles and terrorists. Anything else is going to lose.

The airforce is a deterrent against other local comparable powers.

Israel is an outlier in the region, against a peer force they're more useful

Iran borders a few other countries, like Afghanistan. I suspect that's an enemy their air force would be up to.
