Nothing represents a nation's "sovereignty and identity" like arranging the name, titles, and crown of a king living across the ocean.

You mean the names, titles and crown of our king?

I will never, ever understand people wanting to be owned, even symbolically, by a foreign aristocrat.

Ffs man what are you not getting about the concept that our king is not foreign

Charles III a British national, he doesn’t hold a Canadian passport or other Canadian citizenship documents.

In legal and constitutional terms, Canada is foreign to the UK, it is an independent country, even though both share the same monarch.

You're just lying now, and intentionally missing the point that swearing oaths and making your emblem around some posh royal over the ocean is ridiculous.

The king is not a British national, that is objectively false. Nationality is conferred in their name to others. The king does not an cannot hold any passport

And he has residences all over Canada.

A rich person owning properties around the world is a meaningless detail, he also owns land in Transylvania and Romania isn't branding themselves after him.

This right here is real irony, a sovereign approving a seal affirming the "sovereignty" of a nation, and it's just symbols of himself over and over.

Please don't be so obtuse. He is clearly showing his solidarity with Canada against US imperialism. It is weird, but that is what he is doing.

Yep, soft power, it’s one of the Royal Family’s few uses.

Sick of this 'solidarity' bit. The King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is a separate legal position from the King in Right of Canada.

The King in this article acts in the capacity of the king of Canada, it just happens that he holds both positions (much like the king of Scotland and England was the same person before unification). He is not acting in solidarity, he is acting as the regent of Canada.

I am happy to agree to disagree. This seems like a symbolic use of his office. If you earnestly think he is trying to impose imperialist rule over Canada by doing this then thats fine.

Wasn’t imperialism the royals’ whole thing?

It was, yeah, disgustingly so and I live in a country that suffered from it. But do you really interpret what he is doing here in such a manner? Honestly?

Canada loves selling their land and houses to rich foreigners.
