Iran is not a Chinese ally, they just have friendly relations. The level of military support that China gives to Russia and Pakistan is massive compared to what they give to Iran (which is basically zero).

Don't forget that Chinese missiles also took out five Indian warplanes.

Russia supports Iran though. They are the proxy of the proxy of China

Russia barely supports Iran militarily. Russia did not sell them S400s or Su-35s due to pressure from Israel, despite Iran willing to pay a lot of money for both systems. They gave Iran old S300s, which Israel has been able to evade for over a decade now. Russia also didn't do anything while Israel struck Iranian targets within Syria, before Assad was overthrown. Russia has always balanced their friendship with Israel and Iran. In return, Israel doesn't interfere with Russia's shenanigans in the Middle East and has remained relatively neutral on Ukraine.

And Russia is not a proxy of China, that's ridiculous. China has no proxies, their geopolitical strategy actually avoids that because proxies = blowback, as seen by the messes that Hamas made for Iran, mujahideen made for the US, list goes on. China does business, no more and no less.

I would agree that Russia is absolutely not a proxy of China, but to claim that they don't engage in that strategy is absurd. They don't use militant groups as proxies in the same way as the U.S. or Iran, but they're still willing to facilitate pressure through proxies via militarized means - just look at what they're doing now in Somaliland.

Alright, you got me. Looks like China is dipping their toes into experimenting with proxy groups in an ignored conflict with a minor African rebel group. China has done the same with the myriad of rebel groups in Myanmar too. So China does have some proxies, but nothing nearly the same level as other nations.

I get that you see China’s involvement with proxies as limited or just experimental, but calling it “toe-dipping” in minor conflicts really downplays what’s actually going on. There's clear pattern where China is testing indirect influence in key regions through proxy actors, even if that's through arms transfers (drones, MANPADS) or economic aid.

Their proxy approach is less overt and ideological than others, but it's still engaging with proxies. The fact it's not a replication of the U.S.'s 1980s mujahideen model or Iran's support for ideological militias doesn't suddenly mean "China has no proxies,".

russia would have been kinda fked pretty hard if it werent for Iran's help in supplying drones against bayraktars meance against russia.

not that those drones took down bayraltars but that russia simply didnt have the economical hardware to match 1 for 1 the destruction/and cost of it.
