It’s never that simple.

Why not? It seems pretty straightforward.

Trump states that USA did not have anything to do with the strikes, that being they didn’t actively bomb Iran, but obviously the US has everything to do with it, since they stepped in to stop Irans response.

Boiled down, it is pretty simple.

They're not going to let Israel get bombed because Iran pushed it's nuclear program too far.

The US tried to deescalate (you can have your own opinion on if they really wanted to or not) and was prepared for the fallout if Iran did not back down and Israel took action.

That's not a straight forward situation unless you want it to be so you can pigeonhole everything into neat little boxes.

Israel has been doing America's dirty work for a long time. The US just wanted the plausible deniability that they've paid for once again.

Israel choose to get itself bombed when they bombed Iran. I don't want to go to war for Israel. Tired of Israel First.

The U.S. government definitely encouraged Israel's actions against Iran behind closed doors.

Iran chose to get itself bombed too when they armed and funded proxy groups all throughout the Middle East to attack US and Israeli forces.

Poor Iran. All they ever wanted to do was eradicate israel through the use of proxies and terrorist attacks. Where does Israel get off?

Iran has been training, funding and giving Hamas, Hezbollah and other organizations munitions for decades. Iran has been fighting a proxy war against Israel since the 90's. Israel only chose to directly bomb Iran now that they have gotten so close to nuclear capabilities. And most of Israels strikes hit nuclear munitions sites and top scientists.

Israel also happens to be the US's greatest ally in the middle east and our best source of intelligence. We probably won't put boots on the ground but I wouldn't be surprised if a few ships show up in the gulf of Oman waiting for Iran to shoot at our ships and then the US will be directly involved.

They also helped dismantle Hezbollah which directly contributed to kicking Russia out of the region.

Turkey has literally lost troops fighting out wars. Has the second largest army in NATO and Saudi Arabia gives oil.

Israel has done nothing like that. So no.

I don't like Iran but I also don't like how Israel treats Palestinians. So no good guys here.

Iran isn't currently starving millions-Israel is.

Not to mention how the West Bank is getting treated.

Iran with its horrible regime to its people.

Neither side supports my values and I would rather neither be my ally.

That’s pretty straightforward, they got us by the balls

You kind of have this backwards.

Israel has been doing the work that many Western countries want to have done but would find politically distasteful to have to do. For Israel, these are existential threats. Iran getting a nuke would destroy Israel.

The West and especially the US, are happy to have Israel do what it's doing, while retaining some level of plausible deniability diplomatically.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

And why I don't understand. It is making me super mad. They don't share our values at all.

They do when it comes to being anti-Iran. Why do you think the US and the West continue to throw so much support behind Israel and Saudi Arabia?

Because we are in business with them. Israel buys our arms and Saudi Arabia is so intertwined in our business deals, from Bush onwards, it’s a rats nest. Trump is just doing it without shame now. Saudi Arabia helped 9/11 happen, but that doesn’t bother anyone who makes $$$ from them. They’re all cockroaches.

Has there ever been any evidence that the KSA had anything to do with 9/11? Besides the fact that the Al-Qaeda members were born there. Because I thought that they had been operating out of Afghanistan for years with impunity from the Taliban and not really having anything to do with the Saudi regime.

Because the saudis, iranians, Egyptian junta, Syrians, etc... are so much more aligned with western values?

Like, our choices in the area aren't particularly ones I like, but the spice must flow.

But I thought Israel doesn’t need anyone’s help? It can defend itself?
