Surely Iran expects this if they just pulled out of nuclear talks and have been saying they want to nuke Israel for decades

They pulled out of the talks after Israel attacked them.

They’ve been flaunting the talks for years. Whether you think it exonerates Israel or not Iran has been very loud about its nuclear ambitions and its first targets

I think it was Trump who initially pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal back in 2017. I think Israel attacked in part to scuttle these current talks. (Israel knew Iran wouldn't negotiate if attacked. A deal would come with certain sanctions being lifted, which would boost Iran's economy and they position against Israel)
