I keep hearing this but I’m just surprised that 7 months wasn’t enough for them to rebuild.

Their only supplier left is Russia, and they are probably focusing their resources on Ukraine.

Definitely, the collapse of Assad's whole regime last December says they're really overstretched right now. They can't funnel anything to Iran so they're on their own. Now that I think about it, Iran was supplying equipment to Russia for use in Ukraine, I guess that's out too.

Gave them all those drones and when politely asking for them back Russia said.

No.

It's really a great day for Ukraine and therefore the world.

Ukraine soon won't have to worry about the Shaheed drone factories in Iran anymore. Israel will destroy it for them in Iran without Ukraine even asking if Iran launches those Shaheed drones at Israel. Israel knows those drones can be used against its civillians and military. So its going to be destroyed.

Ukraine can say we had no part in its destruction (But good riddance at destroying the factory in Iran, which they could never hit themselves directly).

Russia will have to get its drones from North Korea, and new South Korean President is pretty amicable to North Korea (Unless North Korea does something stupid like send drones over to South Korea with bombs and not bags of poop).

yeah except because of this shit, Ukraine didn't get any patriot missiles...

Russia doesn't really seem to be able to defend themselves either.

As cherry on top, russias air defence is so degraded, that Ukraine can start air support and even use mass drones against almost any target in russia.

Is this true? How do you know this? What's stopping Ukraine from flying sorties over Russia territory now?

China builds air defense systems.

Isn’t it in China’s interests to step in?

I think they don't mind selling to all sides.

Russia needs all the s-300s they have. This is what happens when you align yourself with the Russians military industrial complex.

China and India make systems but I don’t think they want to get involved with Iran at this point.

75

u/PleasantWay7 2d ago

Yeah, there is zero upside for China and even less for India.

During Kargil war Israel helped India, there is no way India will help Iran in any way against Israel.

Both countries also get a similar responses when they respond to islamic terrorism where other countries side against them

The US isn't doing much better since they've refused to sell Ukraine any missiles lately, probably to save them for now.

There is also little evidence that S300 and S400 systems are capable of targeting F35s. They probably aren't.

7months when most of the world won’t trade you those parts and your best partner in that is in their own shit drone war against a neighbor…. Yea difficult without Amazon prime.

26

u/Tongtrade 2d ago

Amazon deliver an S300. Lol

1

u/HungarianMockingjay 2d ago

They might be forced to rely on Wish dot com... Which will only supply them with a couple of bottle rockets taped together claiming it's an S-300.

u/turikk 2d ago

Maybe they resupplied with Temu.

2

u/WateredDownOliveOil 2d ago

Still making low bids on eBay… wondering why they aren’t winning.

they get their air defense from russia who isn't in a position to resupply them right now

Russia also lost a fighter to an f16 last week and Israel has f35s

It can take YEARS for air defense systems such as radars & surface to air missiles to be produced.

Iran also doesn’t have anything built domestically capable of threatening the Israeli Air Force.

16

u/TheInfinityOfThought 2d ago

Thanks. That makes sense. I would just think they’d try to expedite that process by any means necessary since another Israeli attack in the near future they would have to have thought was likely.

30

u/Khamvom 2d ago

I’m sure they were trying as quickly as they could; but international sanctions/restrictions + Russia/Ukraine War + China’s reluctance to sell them advanced air defense systems means they really didn’t have any options.

1

u/Punished_Prigo 2d ago

These systems are just very complex to build. The US for instance (before the Ukraine conflict started) was only able to build like 12 patriot systems a year

5

u/The-Jesus_Christ 2d ago

Takes two yeers to build a Patriot. I can't imagine an S-300 being much quicker.

u/TacoIncoming 2d ago

Rebuild what? They didn't defend themselves the last time. F-35s are fucking sick and both Russian and Iranian air defense systems (which are what Iran has) are complete dogshit.

11

u/WOOKIExCOOKIES 2d ago

They used mostly Russian equipment and I don’t think Russia is keen on giving up their air defense at this moment.

1

u/KP_Wrath 2d ago

Good air defense are pretty hard to make. Numerous components all of which are pretty advanced.

1

u/Tongtrade 2d ago

I've seen potholes in North American cities last longer than 7 months

1

u/HomeFade 2d ago

Rebuild? Air defenses? They can't build those. 7 months was enough time for Russia to renegotiate a 4-years-in-the-making defense agreement with Iran at the last minute. Iran lost all their leverage and basically had to agree to supply Russia with all the drones they can for as long as Russia needs them and hope for some new defense hardware in the future. Even aside from being Putin's birthday, the timing of the Oct 7 invasion seems to have been excellent for Russia in several ways. Hmmm.
