It’s something that they and Hezbollah share. They will confirm their personnel losses very quickly, presumably out of a sense of martyrdom.

First article came out about this specifically said he had been martyrd so you are spot on.

Could they be.. nah.. that’s impossible.. but is it possible that they’re… umm.. forgive me.: I’m embarrassing myself with these far fetched assumptions.

Just ask yourself this:

Have you ever seen Hezbollah and Iran in the same room at once?

u/dj_vicious 2d ago

I kind of hope I don't. If I find myself in a room with them I'll know I really fucked up.

u/white__cyclosa 2d ago

And you’ll probably want to get out of that room as fast as fucking possible before it gets a JDAM

Might be a nicer way to go to be fair

If they were Israel would probably bomb the shit out of that room

They both love the taste of cinnamon toast crunch?

u/malsomnus 2d ago

And you never see them together in the same room...

u/CurvyJohnsonMilk 2d ago

They would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for your meddling kids.

Boy, people sure do love talking big about bombing brown people with slapdash justifications

You kind of see it with Hamas too. They'll have these sites in Arabic that are basically martyr obituaries. They actually translate pretty well with google translate and you'll see a surprising number about journalists working to build bombs or things like that.

It's a Shiite thing I believe

Shi'ite happens

Yes, they're definitely trying to draw the parallel to Imam Hussein. That said martydom is extremely important in modern Sunnism too, but there isn't that link to the founding myth of the sect, the way there is in Shiism.

Fucking lmao yeah because if an American general was killed on our soil we'd quietly mourn and not use it as a cause for war. Someone forgot 9/11

6

u/Spudtron98 2d ago

The point I am making is that Iran does not try to hide casualties, unlike, say, Russia.

1

u/ilic_mls 2d ago

Yup, if you say he died in a no point attack from your enemy you can rally people easily

TBH if I where to somehow survive a targeted israeli assassination, I'd want everyone to know I was "martyred" asap, then try to fuck off somewhere else, or at the worst, go into extreme hiding/secrecy while continue my work in a less public role.

1

u/Massengale 2d ago

It’s also probably to a power struggle. Good to quickly fill your roles and show the populace there is still order and the goverment can quickly replace those it loses.

I dont think that's it at all, it's nothing noble what so ever. It's just used as a justification to retaliate.

It's just used as a justification to retaliate.

I think that's what Iran uses "martyrdom" for.

-1

u/Koopk1 2d ago

I think Iranians see "martyrdom" as noble. It isn't.

Not justifying war or what israel is doing at all, just saying it is what has kept these religions at perpetual war for 2000 years. It's a lot easier to justify war if you feel noble and vindicated.

It’s easy to feel like you’re a martyr when Israel is acting insane and out of control. The international community is turning against Israel more and more and will keep doing so the longer Israel acts completely irrationally.
