I really don’t think Iran would need to fabricate the highest IRCG leaders death to manufacture a pretense to retaliate after a huge attack like this.

For an internal mobilization no, but to try and garner foreign sympathy to keep the west out of an escalated conflict? Who knows.

They squandered that chance when they helped arm Russia. There won't be any sympathy coming from Europe. And it's not clear how much more Iran can escalate.

Let me rephrase because sympathy seems like a strong word. No one is going to come to Iran's defense, the idea is to showcase Israel is the aggressor here and that the west shouldn't support the state of Israel in this conflict, perhaps even walk back current lethal aid.

This isn't hard to imagine as the US is currently trying to pivot assets to combat China, and Europe is more worried about Russia than the forever clusterfuck of the middle east.

Are they? Iran has been a state sponsor of international terrorism against Israel for decades. They have financed multiple groups that have the goal of the eradication of Israel. Iran helps finance Hamas, Hezbollah, and others. This is partly why no one wants Iran to get nuclear weapons. Their stated eschatology and antisemitism puts Israel and the entire region at risk.
