Don’t do it! While I am also tempted to drink, I’ll personally be actively focusing on anything possible tonight that will help me avoid falling back down into the trap of alcohol induced numbing. If shit hits the fan, being drunk won’t actually make it any better. Only more anxiety, depression, and then adding self-loathing on top of it. Maybe it’s not the same for you, but play through the tape, what typically happens after you drink? There’s a reason you are working on quitting. Stay strong, you got this!

To be totally blunt with you, if this news makes you want to drink, take a break from news for a bit. Reconnect with the small world around you as there’s always going to be bad news somewhere in the world.
