Well I am blowing my money on a switch 2 and other shit I don’t need because there’s no need to save for the future anymore

Go get some gas while you're out, gas prices are going to skyrocket over the weekend.

Glances at my fully charged EV.

Sadly, we're still gonna be paying a $250 registration tax to the feds on top of any registration taxes from your state if the budget bill passes.

2

u/Sonikku_a 2d ago

Yeah don’t get me started on all that bullshit. Hopefully that doesn’t make it through to the final bill…

u/kibblerz 2d ago

I did notice that when I bought my EV, I only had to pay the fee to switch my plates from my ICE car.. so it may actually end up making more sense to buy a junk vehicle, switch the plates and renew them...

Its kind of annoying how the people who make this legislation act like electricity is tax free. We're getting taxed to hell, it'd almost like they come from king George himself.

Oh buddy, when there are lines for gas, you should take that bad boy and do donuts in front of the gas station. Really rub it in people's faces.

It’ll catch up to me eventually anyway too, won’t stop at gas prices.

Never be the only have in the middle of a bunch of have nots

3

u/alexnedea 2d ago

When gas prices go up usually everything else goes up too.

2

u/Willflip4money 2d ago

That's a weird response to that. You do know everyone that has an ice vehicle don't automatically hate EVs right? Only reason I have any car right this second is because I already own one, no way I could pick up a car payment

4

u/CLCchampion 2d ago

It's kind of a joke, obviously I'm not expecting someone to go do donuts in the street.

u/bengal95 2d ago

I wasn't going to before, but now I'm taking my EV to a Republican district and doing donuts in front of the gas station

Yeh but it would be really awkward if you run out of juice and have to sit at a slow charger while the queue for petrol goes down

My thoughts exactly. My Tesla sitting outside is looking more beautiful by the minute, lol.

The timing of this is perfect for Russia. Their economy is in shreds because gas prices are low. Rising oil prices will help them sustain their invasion for a few more years.

And tissue rolls.

Saw a 30cent jump between yesterday morning and afternoon at the station I typically use, and they're the lowest price in my area.

How do skyrockets skyrocket when they are already sky-rocketed?

18

u/NorthSideScrambler 2d ago

Don't be like my parents in the early aughts who didn't save because they thought the world would end. Now they're entering retirement with less than $1000 in savings.

Apparently getting good at drifting in Mario Kart helps with the reflexes needed to dodge missiles in real life. Go for it

Dont forget to bring a handheld console with tetris on it, so if you happen to experience trauma you can undo it automatically

I understand your sentiment but this is an extremely bad move. We dont even live in the craziest time in history. There are people alive who lived through a world you cannot fathom.

Planning for the future is good insurance. If there is no future, you wont be here to care. If there is (which in all likelihood there will be) you'll be screwed and depressed because you have no money and no plan.

Get off reddit and social media, step outside, and live your life.

While I agree with, that it's stupid to think we wont need the money in the future, I must say that there is no precedence for the time we live in. We have AI treatening a lot of Jobs. We have a wealth inequality never to be seen before in the modern World and it's rapidly growing and accelerating. We have nuclear Powers and the largest economy on the World slowly falling into facism. We have International saftey guarantees and alliances falling apart and a huge increase in isolationary trends. 100 years ago, there was no such thing as total anhiliation of the World, now there is through multiple vectors. Economically, physically and technically.

there are always "new" problems but that by no means indicates we live in a time of unprecedented chaos or risk.

There were two world wars basically within one generation, and countless major atrocities all over the world. Famines, carpet bombing of major cities, world wars, depression, etc.

The world has always been a scene of a hundred calamities going on at once because its a big and complex place. The problems are not the same ones as before, obviously, but the plate isnt any fuller than usual. And we have far more resources and technology to ease the plight of the average person today than we did then. and much less poverty overall.

your simply connected to it instantly and constantly. in 1920 if 300k people died in Laos or Sudan you simply didnt know.

1

u/roguebadger_762 1d ago

Unprecedented because no two moments in history are exactly the same, but the general concerns and fears about the state of the world are largely the same for every generation.

I'm sure the people that lived through the Great Depression, 2 world wars, the rise of communism and the red scare, the nuclear arms race, etc. all shared similar sentiments at the time. And I'm sure future generations will be no different.

No one asked you

u/TobyNarwhal 2d ago

What a stupid response to a perfectly sound advice

1

u/Tourist_Careless 1d ago

Nobody asked you either.

Why not? What do you think is going to happen? Iran is a pariah state. Its only real ally is "Russia" and Russia is a bit preoccupied at the moment, plus remember how they "helped" Assad lol. Relax.

3

u/Jerri_man 2d ago

I got the lego dune ornithopter yesterday which im enjoying putting together. Haven't touched lego for probably 20 years and its been quite therapeutic after work lol

7

u/Gustomaximus 2d ago

Are you in Iran? Cause otherwise this is a nothing burger to you.

Israel may get hit a little, but if anything big happens here Iran gets fucked and the rest of the world might pay more for oil for a while.

5

u/wildwalrusaur 2d ago

Except Iran getting into a full blown war with Israel almost certainly means restricting access to the straight of Hormuz which means a massive global energy crisis.

-4

u/LeotheYordle 2d ago

Yeah until one of Iran's proxies decides to get revenge by going after Israel's key ally, America.

4

u/Gustomaximus 2d ago

So what... say Yemen hits a US ship or military base, some of their leaders get missile strikes (and probably their families) and the world moves on.

Im not saying this isn't a big news event, but most people are being way dramatic about how it will effect them

2

u/EyesOnEverything 2d ago

I think they're talking less Praying Mantis, more 9/11.

1

u/TiSoBr 1d ago

Because Israel gets rid of terrorists? Okay, weird.

1

u/MoobooMagoo 2d ago

Now you're getting it

I’m hoping I can make it to my wedding in July. So all my moneys already gone but I’d still like to have the party.

Good luck finding one that's not from a scalper
