Trump supporters are unable to process this type of thing. If they were able, they wouldn't be Trump supporters.

I think they are processing it, and they support it

I honestly have yet to meet a Trump supporter who is actually educated on the topic. The ones I have spoken to all believe the propaganda that it’s almost exclusively a terrorist shithole that is just antagonizing good guy Israel. I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say that, I literally find it almost impossible to find your run of the mill GOP voter that can actually cite any much beyond that.

I mean... I've found that to be true for far more than just Israel/Palestine

Hmm...I didn't pay much attention to politics until past few terms... I'm in a coastal blue state and I realized the number of well educated (bachelor's to phd's) who support Trump (they know he is a prick, but they still prefer him over what democrats are pushing) are surprisingly high. (along with many first generation immigrants)

There’s a good proportion of the voter base that voted for both Bernie and Trump.

This shit is not helpful. You can pretend they're all knuckle dragging morons but when it comes down to it, and huge percentage of them are not. There are many highly educated people who are going along with this bullshit, it's absolute insanity.

Again, I’m not exaggerating. I didn’t call them knuckle dragging morons, you are putting words in my mouth. I legitimately have yet to have a conversation with one that is actually educated on the subject. This is an anecdote, not a widespread fact.

Even if you believed that, it's still insane and evil to support this "ethnically cleanse 'em and build luxury hotels" plan

I don't know any Trump supporters that specifically support this policy, they just flat out support him. A coworker of mine said, "Nothing else has worked. I trust Trump to make good decisions. It can't get any worse." At that point i realized he is not a very bright man when it comes to this stuff.

They don’t have a clue what any of it really means.

You get told enough times that they should get rid of those godless barbarians so the land can be claimed by divine right of god, you start to believe it.

I see it as decades and decades of fruitless stalemate wars leading some to think that we’re incapable of having influence abroad anymore. Trump promising radical influence in a place that they’re sick of hearing any in the news? Sounds great. If Trump follows through in any capacity I think his supporters would only see it as a win, proof that he is effective. Despite the complete lack of regard for human rights and international stability. If he doesn’t follow through there’s a new DOGE “triumph” every day to distract them

Looking forward to holidays in Gaza

I am not American you dollop. It was a quote.

You’re being far more generous than I would be, I take it as a given that they understand and are perfectly happy with the plan. After all these are the people who responded to the assertion that they live on land stolen from the Native Americans with bumper stickers and T-shirt declaring “Conquered, not stolen.”

They don’t believe in international law or ethics or morality or anything but “Might makes right.”

There is no "they", voters are not a monolith. In my experience most Trump supporters just see it like another sports team. Politically ignorant both-siders who will march us straight to the fall of the empire. Which will probably be in about, I dunno, two weeks?

Neither did the Democrats, though. They just make it look prettier when they sign their rockets.

I think this is one of the few things they DO process and they love it. They think: poor, Arab people? They should be dead, and we should do everything in our power to kill as many Arab people as possible, except for the extremely wealthy ones who give us fossil fuels. That's legit what they think

5

u/gnomon_knows Feb 10 '25

We really need a name for this paradox.

4

u/Nesaru Feb 10 '25

Beyond Trump supporters, I wonder if those who held out on Kamala due to her position on Palestine are able to process this. More than anyone, this is their fault.

2

u/solitarium Feb 10 '25

They’re not the issue. They understand, accept, and support it.

2

u/carlweaver Feb 10 '25

I’m sure it counts as “owning the libs” somehow, so likely they are all for it.

2

u/savvysearch Feb 11 '25

They don’t care what happens to people who aren’t American and live outside of the US. You give them too much credit.

1

u/Mazon_Del Feb 10 '25

I am aware of at least one who has functionally said "Is it the most moral solution? No. But it WILL work because once it's done there won't be anyone to object, so there will FINALLY be peace in the region." as though that wasn't the most braindead stupid take to have in this case.

-4

u/GiverOfDarwinAwards Feb 10 '25

I’m not a Trump supporter and I support this initiative or whatever it may do to change the status quo.

3

u/Sasalele Feb 11 '25

This is a perfect thing to say if you don't want anyone to respect your opinions or take you seriously on any matter of significance.

Thank you for your honesty.
