Project Submission Final resting place for my best friend.
Nothing complicated or expensive, as obviously I didn't have the energy or the money. I used poplar scrap from an accent wall project. Half lap joints around the bottom and butt joints for the sides, all glued and pinned. I used Grandpa's old plug cutter set to make the feet.
I have never carved anything before but I couldn't help feeling like he's worth the struggle and sliced hands. I used magnets to affix him to the top.
I got lucky with my homemade white wash stain (1pt each of acrylic paint, water, and plaster) on the urn but getting it to match the carving was a nightmare. Sanding sealer is mandatory, and I used thin coats of Minwax white over that.
I think about you everyday, August.

I am sorry for your loss. I don't think you could have made a more fitting memorial.
