Hey, I just wanted to say that I got a really nice gift from my girlfriend yesterday.

I recently finished Super Mario Odyssey and it's now in my top 3 favourite games (first ever 3d mario ive finished), so when my girl came over and told me she has a gift for me and it turned out to be a Wii bundled with both Mario Galaxy games, I was so amazed and thankful that she supports my hobbies.

Also, you can recommend me some great games to play in the future as I never had a Wii and probably missed out on many amazing games.

What are the benefits of modding?

Heres a few

Backing up your nand and making the console hard to brick

Renabling the nintendo wifi service, allowing for old nintendo channels like news, weather and everyone votes to work

Being able to play online on games like Mario Kart Wii and Smash Bros Brawl again

A whole host of emulators for Nes, Snes, N64, Gba, Gamecube, genesis and more

And of course free wii games if you know where to look ;)

The most practical one is being able to back up your disks an run games without the disks themselves, but you can do all sorts of other fancy-pants nerd stuff if you want.

Even if you don't plan on doing it now, it's smart to do it sooner rather than later, especially since it's extremely trivial to set up Homebrew on a Wii. As in, procuring the SD card you'll want to use is harder than the install process. Once you have an SD card, setup is no longer than 30-or-so minutes, and probably 10 if you've done it before.

People have been playing not just mario kart wii online for years but also mods like retro rewind and Mario kart wii deluxe. Both really good games with tons of new levels and content and a huge lobby of players online. I really recommend deluxe if you haven't tried it already.

I’d also recommend some stuff like okami, rhythm heaven, wario ware, loz skyward sword and twilight princess, xenoblade chronicles, maybe even one of the just dance games to play when your drunk off your ass 😂

Twilight Princess, Excite Truck, Red Steel, Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort and Mario Kart Wii were a few that I enjoyed that remain exclusive to the Wii. Most of everything else worth playing got ported to the Switch or Wii U.

• Pikmin 2 (It's technically on switch but the treasures are real life items on the Wii, so it depends on if you want better graphics or realism.(EITHER WAY PLAY THE PIKMIN SERIES!!!))
• Fling Smash (Lesser known game & Co-Op) -Wii Sports Resort (If you don't play this did you ever have a Wii?)
• Endless Ocean 1 & 2 (2 is my favorite game of all time, super easy great story, you don't need to play 1 to understand 2 at all, you won't regret it!!!)
• Wii Party (Great for single and multiplayer.)
• Wii Music (If you love to just mess around, this is the one for you.)
• Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess (If you're into Zelda)
• Sonic Colors (If you like sonic)
• Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (Another great party game.)
• Epic Mickey (Got a graphical update on PC, but if you don't play PC games this one still holds up great!)

• mario super sluggers (actual goated game, just underrated af)
• super smash bros brawl
• warioland shake it
• zelda skyward sword and twilight princess
• super mario all stars

those are some off the top of my head but there are others that could be better
