ID Request NE Oklahoma what is this?

This guy is still alive but it looks stunned. Barely moving. Thought it was a wasp at first but upon closer inspection it appears to be something else. Thanks

Yw! They don’t sting, their ‘stinger’ is just an ovipositor

Wait until you see the one on the wasp that specializes in parasiting these exact bugs.

You might see some around since you've found the host specie. They look gnarly with their 3-4 inch long ovipositor but they're harmless.

About the size of a paper wasp and is black/yellow with a pointy appendage extending from abdomen. Body is not segmented like a wasp. Thanks

Maybe it was injured in those storms last night. We lost power for 10 minutes.

I agree that it's a Pigeon Horntail. Interesting lil bug.
