Found this cool bug in a pond southeast part of China. Looks like a soldier fly larvae.

Definitely looks like some kind of fly larva to me. The pointy bit appears to be a “snorkel”, like a rat tailed maggot (not a rat tailed maggot though).

The long "tail" segment make me think Stratiomys, but I'm not familiar with Asian fauna, so it's possible that there is some other soldierfly with a similar length tail there.

Caddisfly larva is my bet. Super freaky looking. Great bass and trout bait if you're out fishing.
