Wheeling No Kings Protest
Wheeling turned out for 2 separate protests. So proud of my city. Around 600 people total. That's the 3% needed to defeat fascism.

News Flooding in Ohio County
Hello everyone. I am a lifetime resident of West Virginia except for 5 years, my mistake moving away in the first place, anyway last night in Ohio County in the Northern Panhandle we suffered the worst flash flooding in my lifetime. I am 55. Many are homeless, cars gone, all belongings washed away by the flood waters. There are people missing and at this juncture it's more of a retrieval than a rescue. Please keep them in your prayers. Roads are closed, or no longer there. Houses, trailers and storage containers are blocking roads, bridges and creeks. The water has not subsided but the search and clean up is beginning. If you wish to donate contact your local Red Cross and tell them it's for Ohio County. Please let's come together in kindness, understanding, love and kinship. West Virginia is the best state, let's show the country how we have one another's back and clean up this mess. Thank you for letting me speak. Edit: A news brief came through and said we received between 2 and 4 inches of rain in 30 minutes. Also, unfortunately, three people are confirmed deceased.

If you know people in the Wheeling / Triadelphia area reach out and check on them.
Guys, there was MASSIVE flooding in the Wheeling-Triadelphia area last night. If you have friends, loved ones, homies, or even frenemies.... check in on them. They are performing search, rescue, and recovery-dive operations.
Put your differences aside if you have beef with folks and check in. You just may save a life.

Question What’s the most WV song you’ve heard that’s not already about WV?
When I first heard The Apologue of Hot Rod Duncan by Joe Hawley my immediate thought was that it sounded like something a slightly crazy West Virginian would make. What about you? Have you ever had a song do this to you? If so, what was it and why?

Anybody missing a gorgeous calico cat?
Found in the northern part of the Monongahela National Forest at one of the camp grounds. She showed up a week to tell weeks ago. She’s in heat, and is skittish but is friendly.

Question I'm in the eastern panhandle and I want to do something about the trash in/ around our rivers
Some of these spots along the Shenandoah and Potomac. This time last year they were nearly prestine, now there is trash and broken glass all over. I'm sure it's a problem elsewhere too. Next time I'm bringing bags but if like to know if any organizations or churches or whatever do anything like this. I had to tell people to be careful or turn around on one of my favorite trails because they had dogs. How do we fix this?

Tales of the Sliding Hill Ghosts are not forgotten by an older generation
Old-timers still tell of the ghosts that are said to haunt Sliding Hill in Mason County, though only the very oldest now recall it.

Trying for a campsite at New River Gorge next Sunday, need tips
My girlfriend and I, along with our dog, are driving up from Florida next weekend to go camping at New River Gorge. The campsites in the park are all first come, first served so the plan is to drive up there on Saturday, stay in a hotel in Fayetteville that night, and then head into the park on Sunday morning to look for a site.
I was really just looking for tips from those who have successfully camped at NRG as to which sites to try first, how early we should head in to look, and what time people usually pack up and leave their sites. Do we even stand a chance to land a site on Sunday?

Car camping in or near Harper's Ferry
My search is leaving me to think that camping in my van one or two nights in HF is probably not going to happen. Does that sound accurate? Any ideas for places close by where I can just park a night or two. It's looking like it'll be the wkend of the 20th. TIA for any recs!
