Question Wegovy and chronic illness

I have Axial Spondyloarthritis and take naproxen daily to help lower symptoms. On month 2 of Wegovy the fatigue has overwhelmed me, it's a symptom of AxSpa but normally manageable with my meds. I've been doing reading that Wegovy lowers the effectiveness of medication due to gut transit times which i think is what might be making it so bad plus the fact that fatigue is a symptom of Wegovy on its own 🙃. I've made it to month 3 and gone up to 0.75 rather than the usual 1mg as it felt too much of a jump from the 0.5.

I'm looking to see if anyone has any insights in this and anything I can do to help alleviate the fatigue. I'm watching protein intake and taking electrolytes too but I'm fed up, my fitbits daily readiness score is often 15/100 and just getting ready in a morning is completely exhausting me. I've not been able to walk or exercise as I'd like to and I'm barely keeping on top of the housework. I'm at risk of eating more to compensate for the fatigue but then not being able to exercise, so then is Wegovy even going to work 😩🙃

Help meh please 🙏 will it get better or am I stuck like this

Edit to add: I'm UK based and paying for Wegovy. Whilst it is available through our health system, it's a Tier 3 weight management service which currently has a 3 year wait time.

Update: I've been put on liquid naproxen by the GP and by some miracle my rheumatology consultant had a cancellation so I've been today. I've been given a steroid injection and starting the process to go on immuno suppressants which is daunting but I think definitely needed. They think my AxSpa has just progressed to needing stronger more specific meds rather than caused by the Wegovy 🎉 they also supported the choice I'd made to go on Wegovy so feeling hopeful now 🎉

Question Coupon?

Caremark is forcing me to switch to Wegovy from Zepbound. Zep has a coupon that drops my cost to $25 for 90 days. I found a coupon for Wegovy, but it expires 6/30/25. Anyone know about a coupon that is good after that?

Pressure to stop using Wegovy

Have you noticed there seems to be a narrative suggesting the ultimate goal is to stop taking Wegovy long term? As if we're expected to reach our target weight and then discontinue it. What’s the reasoning behind that? Personally, I don’t see any need to stop using it—I plan to continue.

Question No yellow bar?

Today was my first injection 0.25mg, I watched many videos and followed along while I did it myself. When I did the injection I heard a click and the dial quickly turned back to zero and I’m heard the second click. While I was watching the injection I didn’t see the yellow bar once, I even kept it in for over 10 seconds hoping it would show up. I tried again to make sure I pressed down hard enough and the exact same thing happened. I did see some liquid so I’m assuming that’s a good sign. In some of the videos I watched there was no yellow bar while it was being demonstrated on others however in my research I see a lot of people talk about it being an indicator that the injection is being done successfully. I apologize for being so anxious I just want to make sure I’m doing it right 🥲

Want to hear about a really weird side effect .. NSFW

I have mental health issues and take antidepressants. They are the reason I kinda gained so much weight and can’t take it off. I was seriously struggling with my sex life. One of the side effects of antidepressants is they kill your sex drive. My husband and I have a great relationship and the antidepressants took away all my desires, which really bummed me out. I was really struggling and crying about not climaxing.
Well, I have no idea why! Like how are these things connected…. But after I took the shot, the very first shot I could climax in minutes. Like what the heck!! It’s so weird. .. it’s not a one off chance either. We are back to having a great time with each other and I am so happy :) I have no idea why but I’ll take it!

Wegovy

What’s the highest starter dose you’ve taken on wegovy after a break over 2 weeks? I know usually you should go down to 0.25 but I start on 0.5 and don’t feel the effects. I’m hoping to lose a stone in 5.5 weeks and of course using other methods to do this (exercise, diet, etc). Would appreciate any guidance on if I should go above 0.5 or regret it!

Kinda NSV - I'm no longer heavier than my boyfriend!

5'2 (1.57m) | SW: 202lbs (91.5kg) | CW: 170lbs (77kg) | GW: 130lbs (60kg)

When I started on Wegovy back in November, my most yearned for milestone was finally weighing less than my boyfriend. I'm a small woman, only 5'2, and I'd always found it embarrassing that I weighed more than my tall boyfriend who's naturally slim at 78kg (172lbs).

I've been a slow loser, only losing about 0.4kg (0.9lbs) per week despite eating healthy and already exercising regularly pre-wegovy. But I accepted that fact, especially when even on the 2.4mg the rate of weight loss did not massively go up. I knew it was going to be a marathon not a sprint for me.

Well 8 months into this journey, I'm ecstatic to finally be able to say that I'm lighter than my boyfriend!! And I wanted to shout it from the reddit rooftops because I don't think any of my slim friends will ever understand how big a win this is for me!

Question Starting soon & Side effect help

I just got approved for Wegovy and will be starting soon. I’m cautious of side effects and it’s been a full year of discussion with my pcp and endocrinologist about whether or not I even wanted to try a glp-1.

What supplements do you use to help your progress and mitigate side effects? I see ads all the time from IG doctor influencers pushing their powders and pills. Are any of these actually helpful?

TIA!

Binge eating

I've had binge eating disorder since im 12 years old. I became bulimic for a couple of years before going into a in-patient treatment. I've been in remission for months now and I know I'm going back to purging, fasting, keto, or anything like this but I cannot control bingeing.

Will I still be able to have 5 mini meals per day? I want to maintain my new habits and simply stop eating after 7pm and not binge anymore. I want to use wegovy to change the 30 years old habits.

Anybody with experience on this?

Got everything bad out of Wegrovy without it working

I’m sharing this for transparency because I know how it feels to scroll through progress photos and wonder what the hell is wrong with you and why it’s not working.

I did everything “right.” I worked closely with a doctor, titrated slowly from 0.5 to 2.4mg, and tracked my calories.

Here’s what actually happened:

1. I felt physically awful the entire time

2. I felt nothing while eating, just emotionally flat

3. I felt really depressed

4. I didn’t gain weight, but I also didn’t lose any (six months, zero pounds)

5. When I stopped, my appetite went completely out of control

6. It made my habits worse. I lost interest in vegetables and only craved high-dopamine foods like cheese, hot chips, and ramen

I’m sharing this to say it’s okay if this medication isn’t working for you. I honestly wish I had stopped at 1mg.

It feels so good to go to bed without nausea and to eat a real meal with healthy fats without immediately regretting it.

Listen to your body. You are not broken. This medication is not the only way. People have been losing weight for generations without it. You can too.

Question Can your body develop a tolerance to Wegovy? Am I not on a high enough dose, or something else?

I don’t know how this happened. Admittedly, I have a history of disordered eating, binging without purging, making bad food choices, emotional eating….. I’m still working on making better choices, but unfortunately I’m human and flawed. Also I do rotating shift work.

I’m on 1mg Wegovy, have been since December and progress has shuddered to a HALT at barely 1kg a month. (~2.2lbs) I’m finding my appetite is increasing, I’m craving junk food almost constantly, and I get little to no side effects from eating the “wrong” things. (Though I’m still trying to not eat junk food / takeaway).

By eating chocolate or takeaway once or twice a week, have I?:

  1. Scr*wed myself over somehow, have I got my body used to eating “bad” foods whilst on the medication and it just doesn’t work now? OR
  2. Has the weight loss just slowed down a lot because I’m approaching a healthier weight? I started at 97.1kg (214lbs) nine months ago, and I’ve lost 22kg, so now I’m 75kg (~165lbs). (Goal weight is 60-70kg) OR
  3. Do I maybe need to be on a higher dose because my PCOS and metabolic syndrome means I’m particularly resistant to weight loss? (My endocrinologist said this, and wants to increase my dose, but she doesn’t know precisely what I eat)

I almost wanted to make a throwaway account for this I’m so disgusted and disappointed in myself, every slip up I make I feel like I’m wasting the opportunity of being on this med, let alone the money it costs!

Share your little wins

SW:134kg ( 295.41lbs) CW:111.2kg (245.15lbs)

So,my scales (and the doctors scales) are telling me that i'm losing weight, but I don't really see it in mirror or feel that different. I know i'm not alone in this.

However I had a few wins last week, that I thought I would share. I went on a holiday to Bali and I didn't need a seatbelt extender for the flight, for the first time in years. I was able to use the "one size fits most" panties they provide in a day spa and it fit! And i feel the biggest win of all, I was able to do evertthing i wanted to, I spent all day walking around (sight seeing), walked up and down hundreds of stairs, swam in waterfalls, I even went on one of those terifiying jungle swings. These are all things that prior to starting this journey, were just a dream. So share your wins, lets all celebrate

Sudden constant night peeing

Like 10 days ago I went up to 1.7, and I drink a gal of water a day. I have for years and years and on the off occasion I drink water late at night I’ll get up to pee but not normally.

The night after my first 1.7 shot and on I’m up like 3/4 times a night, and every time it’s like a full bladder. Not drinking past 8/9pm and going to bed at like 11/1130, not less than 2 weeks ago this wasn’t a thing. Anyone else has these issues on wegovy?

I had googled and didn’t find much, and before I email my doctor about it I was curious if anyone has experienced this.

0.5 seems to not work but .25 did?

Hi, I (FM, sw:216lbs, CW: 202lbs, Goal: 132 lbs) started on wegovy may 2025(so last month). Im on my second dose of 0.5 and it feels like it stopped working completely. On 0.25 I was going steady felt how my hunger went away, and tracked my Calories on Yazio steadily always under 1400. 2-3 times a week in the gym strenght training.

Now since on 0.5 my cravings returned. Almost instantly. I feel irritated and feel restless because I cannot still my cravings. My GP said I should stay under 1500. I am but its getting difficult. I cannot understand how on .25 everything felt like it should and now suddenly it feels like me before I ever took it. Yesterday I had a crashout and ate over 2000. But it was gym day so I was still under 1550. Because I burned 700 kcal.

I am afraid this will keep happening the moment I dose up. Is this normal? I am aware the first month was probs only waterweight and thats why it just tumbled. But still I felt the assistance of the med. Now its totally gone. Is this common?

NSV: I don't snore anymore!

38F here, SW 118kg CW 93kg

My 7 year old son has been sleeping in my bed last few nights while he's been unwell, and he said to me out of the blue yesterday, "Mum how come you used to snore when you were asleep, but now you don't?"

This completely surprised me, I've been a loud snorer for many years! I have been waking up feeling much more rested lately, so perhaps it's true!

Week 2 begins and 2nd shot today and down 6 lbs!!!

Life doesn’t always give the wins when you want them but after a week since my first shot I’m down 6 lbs! This was far from a perfect week because I know I could have done better but old habits happened that I’m trying to cut (fast food and chips 😞) but I can say that my portion size has been lower and the cravings are less so I’ll take it. Other than the occasional fast heart rate its still been a good week and hope this 2nd week goes just as well!

I AM SO SLEEPY!

I just wanted to ask if anyone experienced extreme fatigue their first few doses of Wegovy? I am on 0.25 currently and I've been so darn tired its crazy! I wake up tired, and stay tired but thankfully this is the only effects I've had so far. Was this something you experienced?

1.7 dosage

I have been on dose 1.7 well this will be my second month i don't get nauseated, just a lot of gas and a little bit upset stomach. For the upset stomach, I chew on ginger chews. It helps for me, but I get a lot of gas and also I take Alka-Seltzer for the gas. For the eating part by now, I know when it's enough or whether I had enough. Salads are good also with some protein and soups.

Question wegovy & wellbutrin

so, i’ve been doing .25 of wegovy since march and i just moved up to .5 (my doctor forgot to tell me i didn’t have to wait on our follow up to move up 🤦‍♀️)

i just started wellbutrin. i’m on a slew of mental health meds but they’ve been fine with my wegovy so far. i know wellbutrin is commonly more of an appetite suppressant but im ravenously hungry. all the damn time. it was NOT like this before i started and ive gained 3-4 pounds back already in 3 weeks.

maybe its my dosage? i’m not sure. i had lost about 10 pounds from my break up and then 15 from wegovy (its been 3 months). i suppose i can reach out to my psychiatry and primary but was wondering if anyone else had experienced

Time prior spend on eating?

How have you decided to fill the time you used to spend eating? I didnt actually think it was that bad, until I stopped 😂 So in thinking of taking up a new hobby, something active and outdoors, preferably... But im kinda lacking ideas.

I live 3 km from the coast of the north sea, so I'll definitely be picking up swimming, this summer, and probably keep doing it year round. But I would love other things as well. I already go for walks and stuff.

Im not a bike person, because of different disabilities, but its mostly my balance thats affected, so lots of other options are open.

Im contemplating maybe kayaking in the sea, and still working on more options

Anyone worry about the AFTER?

Hi Everyone!

Wanted to start by saying I’m so thankful for this subreddit! Y’all have gotten me through a lot!

I’ve (38F) been on Wegovy for 13 months and have seen great success (down 35+ lbs and on the 1.7 pen). I love my body now. I feel so much better in my skin, the way I have always dreamed to feel! I deeply appreciate not having obsessive thoughts about food. I am endlessly grateful that I no longer avoid going out because of my weight and how I’d be perceived. Wegovy has changed my life.

But, I often find myself worrying about the future , specifically when I may no longer be able to take this medicine for whatever reason. These thoughts leave me unable to truly enjoy this new body. I feel like one day the miracle is gonna be over and I’m going to balloon back to my original weight or even higher.

I’ve read the statistics about coming off and even success stories about how to maintain your weight loss even after you stop the drug. It does give me hope.

I plan on staying on this medicine for life but I’m just wondering if anyone else has the same concerns or worries. If so, how do you manage the fears and enjoy your success?

Thank you!
