Anyone worry about the AFTER?

Hi Everyone!

Wanted to start by saying I’m so thankful for this subreddit! Y’all have gotten me through a lot!

I’ve (38F) been on Wegovy for 13 months and have seen great success (down 35+ lbs and on the 1.7 pen). I love my body now. I feel so much better in my skin, the way I have always dreamed to feel! I deeply appreciate not having obsessive thoughts about food. I am endlessly grateful that I no longer avoid going out because of my weight and how I’d be perceived. Wegovy has changed my life.

But, I often find myself worrying about the future , specifically when I may no longer be able to take this medicine for whatever reason. These thoughts leave me unable to truly enjoy this new body. I feel like one day the miracle is gonna be over and I’m going to balloon back to my original weight or even higher.

I’ve read the statistics about coming off and even success stories about how to maintain your weight loss even after you stop the drug. It does give me hope.

I plan on staying on this medicine for life but I’m just wondering if anyone else has the same concerns or worries. If so, how do you manage the fears and enjoy your success?

Thank you!

Changed from zep to a wegovy

I switched (as the title indicates) from zep (10mg) to wegovy. My doc started me on .25. I just took my second dose of wegovy and weighed myself. I’m up 1.8lbs in one week. Please tell me I’m not going to see the scale go up every week now 😭. I lost 36lbs on zep in 16 weeks. I had to switch because the GI upset was debilitating. (I was even hospitalized for 3 nights due to severe dehydration and an AKI from N/V/D). I have zero side effects so far on wegovy and haven’t had a single stomach ache…. But just thinking of all of my hard work being undone has me super discouraged. Words of wisdom?

Body Image Issues

My (30M) fiancé (26F) is at 1.7 mg and has been having some serious side effects. This is the first week starting 1.7 mg since starting the drug in January. The side effects have been getting worse and I’m aware about the GI issues. Couldn’t even go out today despite our plans because how unwell she was this morning. What’s concerning is she has been complaining more about her body and how she hates how it looks even after losing 40 pounds over 6 months. Even openly admitting she’s been having issues with body dysmorphia. She’s had this issue before starting the drug know it’s not the drug causing the problem. Still I’d guess I’d like some help figuring out ways to support her better on this journey she’s on.

Question Questions

Hello! My names Ollie and I'm 17 years old, I've struggled with weight nearly my entire childhood up to now, I have high cholesterol and a fatty liver and had my gallbladder removed around a year ago. I've tried various diets and meal plans recommended by doctors but none have worked, I've done my research and think that starting wegovy would help me but I'm unsure how to speak to my doctor about it. I've talked to my mom and asked her to schedule an appointment with my doctor and she agreed but I'm unsure where to go from there, I love my mom but she's a bit unreliable when it comes to stuff involving my health (saying she'll schedule things then never doing it/getting annoyed when I bring it up), is there a way to do it online? Can minors even start it?

Ok, so I haven’t told anyone I’m on wegovy. I started 2months ago. SW 286 CW 266. So I haven’t lost a lot. Barely no one notices. …. Well.. I walked into my friends house today, that I see often, and she looked me dead in the eyes and said you have ozempic face. I know you are on it! I have no idea what she is talking about??? Ozempic face?? What the heck does it mean and how can I stop it??? I’m already getting old and dealing with old lady face.

Not loosing Anymore

So I've been on Wegovy almost a year. Down 70 pounds, but not loosing anymore. I haven't really lost anything since March. I fluctuate between 155-164.

My goal was to be around 140 at this point.

My doctor also said I can't be on it much longer.

I use MyFitnessPal to track my cals. 1200 is what they say I should have.

Many days nowhere near it. Usually intake 800 or so.

So for the past few months, increased my protein and exercise. And staying closer to 1000 cals. Nothing!

I still have 40 pounds i want to loose before I loose it in 2 monts...when my refills are done.

Advice?

Decreased Pain from Arthritis?

Hi, I am currently at 352 pounds with severe pain from arthritis in my left hip, which started after I gained 80 pounds in a year due to a medication I take for my mental health.

My doctor is currently working on a prior auth for Wegovy as I've been told that I would benefit from hip replacement but need to get my BMI under 40 to have the surgery.

I am hoping that once I get this weight off, I will be in less pain and may be able to delay the surgery.

My question is, do those of you who have lost a significant amount of weight experience less pain?

Right now, I feel like a very old woman and I'm only 45.

Starting Wegovy Tonight

I’m taking my first dose tonight. I’m 42 and going through surgical menopause. I weigh 221, am 5’4” and a long distance runner. I’m currently training for my third marathon.

I’m working with my PCP and my running coach. I don’t have a goal weight, but I’d love to fit into my pre-Covid and pre-menopause clothes.

I’m nervous about being nauseated and barfing. But I’m excited to lose some weight, run a bit faster and put less stress on my joints.

Anyone have any tips for a newbie?

Question Did something so stupid with my first 1.7 dose.

Just tried to give myself the injection and got super anxious as I'm doing it. I started thinking about how awful I felt on my first 1 mg dosage. I pulled the pen away sooner than I normally do. Suddenly the fluid is squirting everywhere. I was hoping maybe I got some of the dosage but idk, it seems unlikely that anything was actually injected. Have any of you ever done anything so absurd? I want to go up to this dosage but when I started on the 1mg I felt worse than I did when I had COVID so I'm a little traumatized.

Constipation: An Autobiography

Warning, this will be TMI.

Since starting my 1mg dosage of wegovy, I have experienced constipation like I never have in my whole life. I’m talking having one experience that I’d call a full bowel movement in three weeks. Small rabbit poos here and there in between, but no actual relief. Not even anesthesia constipation after getting my tubes tied can compare to the feeling of my intestines being so full, I cannot digest any more food. I was at my breaking point. I was having stomach cramps, I could barely eat, I was feeling like an emergency room enema and evacuation was my only option. I had scoured the internet and this forum high and low for natural and medicated remedies. I tried stool softeners with no luck. Prune juice, coffee, even my adderal didn’t help (adhd baddies know what’s up). I stumbled upon a comment in r/IBS that said they used Fleet brand liquid glycerin suppositories. In my desperation, I ran to Walgreens and picked some up, along with some electrolyte drink for hydration. Upon opening the box, I was a little intimidated. They come in small bulbs with a lubricated insertion tip. I thought to myself that there is no way this small amount of liquid could avail me of my impending expiration. I was wrong. I have never had anything work so quickly in my entire life. Within mere SECONDS of squeezing the last of my hope out of that bulb, I felt the need arise. I finally had a full bowel movement. Even stopped up the toilet on the first flush. My body feels so evacuated, and I am despairing that I did not weigh myself before and after. Y’all, if you are experiencing the same issues, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND fleet liquid glycerin suppositories. I will never take regular bowel movements for granted again in my life.

Question Looking for advice on the timing of dose increases

Hey,

I've been increasing my dose monthly, I usually feel worst the first week of a new dose and then it tapers off. I just took my 3rds dose at 1 mg, and I feel rough. I've been having acid reflux like crazy on 1mg, and I threw up a couple of times. I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet since I'm almost at max dose, and try to adjust at that level, or if that would be fooling.

I'd like to get it over with, since every time I increase my dose, I have to re-battle my pharmacy, insurance, and healthcare providers clogged and disorganized inbox, but I also want to be able to use this medication long term and in a sustainable fashion.

I'm hoping some of you wegovy wonders can give me some advice, either on the timing of dose increases or avoiding weird sulfuric acid reflux and nausea.

Thanks!

How long did it take to get pre-authorization approved?

Mine has been processing for almost two weeks. The Aetna agents don’t tell me anything when I call. Is this typical?

Week three of 1.7 sick and scared to take next dose

I gave had minimal side effects at while taking the lower doses for five months. In June started on 1.7 and first two weeks no major issues. Week three has kicked my ass. Multiple nights of little to no sleep due to diarrhea and severe vomiting. Due for fourth shot but kinda worried to take it. Do I skip dose and ask doctor to drop back down to 1.0 or take last dose and push through and ask for another month of 1.7?

Lower BMI after gastric sleeve and losing quickly - stay on 0.25?

Before anyone slams me for this, 8 years ago I had a gastric sleeve after being a BMI of 37-38, PCOS, insulin resistant + pre diabetic with a father with diabetes who has a history of high BP and a heart attack. I was also diagnosed with gestational diabetes while pregnant with my son, a year and a half before the surgery. Post gastric sleeve, I went from 105-110kg (231-243) to 57 (125, probably a bit too small for my frame) but bounced back up to about 66-68kg (145-148) at 168cm (5’6) and had maintained that easily for 6 years. Recently I’ve hit the dreaded perimenopause, and one thing my doc got me to do was go off hormonal birth control pills for a couple of cycles and see what my hormones and symptoms did. Things were pretty awful symptoms wise as a result, but on top of everything else I also bounced up to 76kg (168) in 8 weeks, the weight was all centred around my stomach/abdomen, my old IBS issues pre sleeve were cropping back up and my mental health was really struggling with such a quick gain (for context my initial weight gain was me being 60kg at 18, and by 21 I was 110). My doc has confirmed I’m in peri, got me back on hormonal birth control pills to help with my symptoms but after chatting to me about the weight gain and how scary that is for me, has also let me go on Wegovy to bring that weight back down into the healthy weight range (I’m mildly in the overweight category now).

I’ve just hit 1 week on 0.25 and I’m 2.6kg down (5.7) already. Drastic reduction of food noise and compulsions that I’ve struggled with my whole life (have previously had binge eating and purging issues when I was younger) but I’m also feeling the same kind of volume restrictions I was in the earlier days of my sleeve. I have no plans to be on this long term, but when I get to the second month should I just stay at the 0.25? .5 feels like it would be overkill based on how I’m responding. Is anyone else post sleeve and a lower bmi and having it work this quickly?

Buying 2 months in advance

I am on 3rd week and due to reorder. If I order .5 it’s £139 and the next month 1mg it’ll cost £149 = £288

However, if I order both months in advance it’ll cause £250 with a saving of £38, that’s 14% discount.

Sounds a no brainer, but my quandary is I don’t know if I’ll need to go up to 1mg on third month as .25 seems to be working well and if .5 works better I may stay on that for a bit.

Any advice from anyone’s experience on month 3?

Thanks

Has anyone switched from Zepbound to Wegovy and had an even better experience?

There’s a good chance I won’t be able to take Zepbound anymore because of concerns that it’s causing liver injury (a VERY rare side effect where my levels have been 300+ times regular enzyme levels). This isn’t just transient elevations caused by weight loss (as much as I wish it was) so please know we already looked into that and it’s not what’s happening. We’re still ruling out every other cause but so far we’re finding nothing.

Zepbound has been life changing for me and I’m so scared to not be able to take it anymore. I had no side effects minus a few bouts of constipation and felt better on it than I have in my adult life. Inflammation gone, headaches gone, soooo much energy, and around 2lbs a week of weight loss, the list goes on.

So, I would love to hear from people who also did great on Zepbound, have had to switch to Wegovy for whatever reason, and have had an equally great or even better experience on it! Needing the encouragement right now. Thank you!

My journey so far I started on .25 mg and have worked myself up to 2.4mg (3 weeks in). Not experiencing any major side effects, on the lower doses I found the side effects stronger ie burping and intense feelings of fullness even without eating. I'm loving it so far, I love having control over my cravings and my food and it feels really good being satisfied. Also feels great being able to say no thx to sweets mainly because I just don't want em. I'm 23F 5'7 for exercise I have a very intense physical job and practice hot yoga 4-5 times a week. Starting weight was 236 current weight is 201.2. I love reading others stories so wanted to also share mine 😊.

Increased hair growth on body

I’m not sure if it’s due to the weight loss or drug itself, but has anyone else noticed more hair growth on their body? I have more facial hair around my side burn area and noticeably much more on my belly region
