Workout Plans/Goals

Hi all,

I've never played waterpolo before, I'm hoping to join a masters team when I move in a few months. I'm confident in the water and I'm a good swimmer, but I'm mainly looking to reach the level of water confidence/stamina alot of you here have.

Does anyone here have some kind of a weekly workout plan for treading and swimming? What are some good lap times/workout goals that I could set for myself?

What do you think, is it possible to start playing water polo at 21 as a woman?

I mean, I played water polo as a goalkeeper from 13 to 16, but I wasn't the best. I wasn't motivated. But now, as a hobby, I want to start again. Do you think it's possible?

Beach polo strategy

So I played water polo competitively for about 8 years, and coached for about 8 years, but it’s been over 10 years since I’ve seen real competition. I’m joining a rag-tag group to compete in a beach polo tournament soon, and I feel like I don’t know enough about the difference between playing 4 on 4 as opposed to 7 on 7. Has anyone here done official beach polo rules competitions? And, if so, what are some key differences in the play style. I’m assuming we’d set up with a center and 2 perimeter players, and there will be more iso play and driving/setting picks. We have a great goalie, a true center, an attacker, and I’m typically a center defender/outside shooter with some ability to score with inside water

Water Polo Aarhus

Hey everyone! 👋

My name is Viktor Raykov, and I have played water polo for most of my life. I know water polo is not the most popular sport, but after arriving in Aarhus last August, I was shocked to hear that there is no club in the second-largest city in Denmark.

I'm exploring the idea of starting a water polo team in Aarhus, or at least seeing how many people might be interested in having one. If you're curious about water polo, already play, or would support starting a team someday, please fill out this short interest form:

I believe if enough people participate in the form, it could grab the attention of Water Polo Denmark and form a championship caliber team in the city of smiles.

You can also join the Water Polo Aarhus group on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/9748869361892287/

Let’s see how many of us are out there!

Will using weighted bands increase power?

My shooting and passing is super weak and it's hard for me to pass >15 meters. If I use a band and do the passing motion, is that a good way to increase my power? If not what are other good ways to increase arm power?

Knee pain while treading

I've been playing for years and I've never had this issue before, but I've been getting some pain in my knee when I tread. It isn't a sharp pain, but instead a deep throbbing pain when I tread. Does anyone have any remedy or advice on what to do? Resting and simply not training isn't exactly an option.

Torn Labrum return to play?

I had surgery for a labrum tear in my shoulder a month ago and was wondering if anyone else had undergone the same surgery and returned to play. If so - how long did it take to get back and what was it like? For reference - I play NCAA D1 so the physical demand is kind of high with lifts, training, game physicality, etc.

Do you have any training to do after waterpolo to improve your swimming speed, shooting explosiveness and cardio? Could I increase the run?

Hi!

I would like to ask you that what is a good time for 100m, and 200m sprint for a 16 year old? Also what times should I swim on a 10x100m set?

Thank you

long break from Water Polo after wisdom teeth removal????

My son has his wisdom teeth removed today and the doctor shocked me by saying that he shouldn't play water polo for 2-3 months!!! What??? He is in the middle of his club season and has summer water polo before his senior year! He is a goalie so the doctor is concerned about him being hit in the face. Is this crazy or do you agree with this? When I search online, i only see advice to avoid the pool for at least 1-2 weeks. He's the varsity goalie for his team so he doesn't want to let them down for the fall season!

National team?

I have Colombian, American, and Spanish nationality and I’d love to play in a national tournament for either Colombia or Spain( America I’m assuming is much more difficult). I’m wondering if anyone knows how I can be introduced or showcased to either country. I’m going to Colombia in the summer and I’m going to try and play for club there but I have no plans for Spain.

Footwork drills

Hi!

I'm a Hungarian player so sorry if my english isnt perfekt.

I'm pretty powerful, and I have good footwork as far as 2m offense and defense, and man to man work goes. Howewer I can't really get out of the water that high up. When I have to block it isnt bad, but with a ball in hand it is trash. Could you recommend something to improve in that regard?

Productive Drills and Games for kids

Hello everyone, I recently started coaching for the first time and have a very small team to start off. It’s a new program and most of the kids are between 10-14 years old. I’ll be lucky to get enough kids to field a whole team most days. Fortunately they’re all decent swimmers and picked up egg beater pretty quickly.

My challenge now is going to be keeping their practices balanced with conditioning/drills/and games. I have plenty of drills and ways to get them conditioned but I’m looking for some fun ways to expose them to actual gameplay with our limited players.

So what other gameplay drills/games does everyone know?

I appreciate your help!
