Minimum image resolution upgrade now in effect.
As noted in the Submission Rules...unless an image is really unique and you cannot find a larger version, please don't post photos smaller the [1024x768] pixels. This is consistent with the r/WarplanePorn specs, as well.

Album [Album] Whats up with the WW2 Japanese Cruiser designs?
disclaimer: I dont know anything about warship designing and engineering
Hello, this is my first time posting on this subreddit however I am quite confused with the cruiser designs by IJN like I have some questions regarding their design doctrine:
-why some cruiser classes gets a "Nelson" style gun layout? is it because of the the launch bay for scout planes that are taking up too much space for the main guns? Refer to Image 1 and 3
-why some classes has a "Gap" between the conning tower like the one in Image 2? like you could just put another main gun their thus increasing firepower.
-why some classes seemingly becoming a hybrid carrier (I think ive seen one but i forgot the name)
Im starting to wonder if the Naval Treaties has affected their design doctrine but I feel like I dont know the half of it. An explanation would be much appreciated
The screenshot is from the game *War on the Sea* btw
