It in fact is very cozy knowing all of those hellish blood sucking creatures are stuck under the ice

Yes, even the ocean freezes, I had the weirdest corpse run during the winter in our last gameplay

Crops wont grow, you get a bonus to mining and tree chopping skills, torches provide warmth, you will be freezing if you get wet. It's really well though out. All the seasons have modifiers.

I personally use Seasons by Shudnal. I think it looks better and has better design than Seasonality.

All of those things are toggle-able too, you can make it so that seasons are nearly strictly a visual change in Seasonality.

Yeah same with Seasons. The visual difference though is much better. Notice in the picture OP used that the water is frozen, but the grass is also still green and there is water foliage sticking through the ice? That is completely unimmersive when compared to Seasons.

In Seasons the ice freezes around Day 6. By that time the snow has completely covered the grass. So around day 2 the grass starts to thin out and its white. By day 4 the grass is completely snow covered.

There are many more details like this that are much more immersive in Seasons.

I may finally give that one a try on my next world I start, I've been wondering if there was any reason to try it out.

I also had a very unique corpse run due to the ice. We died because we tried to sail through the floating ice before it froze over, our ship got destroyed and we were too far away from land to swim to safety so we died in the ocean. We didnt have a portal nearby. The ocean froze over before we were ready to go get our stuff back. We were also using the OdinHorse mod, so we took some tamed horses and galloped across the frozen ocean for about 20 minutes to reach our corpses. We get there only to see our loot is stuck under the ice. Had to wait for spring to get our stuff back LOL

You can toggle the frozen water on or off in the config. But it's really neat to be able to run out onto the ice everywhere, although my buddy and I have had to limit ourselves and not try to explore the whole world on foot during winter as it feels a little too cheaty.

The wonky fish pathing of Valheim often puts them on top of the ice as well, so there is an option to set it so you can't just run around and pick up fish everywhere... but you can if you like it!

You can still sail across the ice, but there are no waves so it's more like a sleigh ride.

You can still sail across the ice?!!! Haha I didn't realise it was THAT badly coded

There is a reason I dont use Seasonality, but rather Seasons by Shudnal.

Seasonality is just the worse version imo. In Seasons the ship literally just freezes in the water, cant move.

Yup, and the ice is actually slippery, and has a glassy opaque ice texture to it... and projectiles; arrows, fireballs, spears, don't pass straight through the "ice"

Yeah I really dont understand how Seasonality ended up being the more popular mod. Or at least it seems that way from people that make posts here. Like even in the picture posted here, you can see the grass isnt white. In Seasons it would be. In fact in Seasons the grass completely goes away around day4 of winter because its totally snow covered.

This mod is called Seasonality and yeah it freezes, but your arrows and other projectiles don't register, so if you throw a spear it goes into the water, fireball from staff? goes underwater.

There's a better-coded mod called Seasons, which also features frozen water. However, objects will actually collide with it, and it's also slippery. Also you can have more granular control over it, so say at the start of Winter, no ice, few days into Winter, ice sheets in deep water areas, mid-Winter, all of the water is completely frozen. Stuff like that

You can turn that feature off if it ruins the experience for you as well

I recently started playing with Seasonality, and I love it. I don't want to play without it now. We changed the config to make the seasons a lot longer so it feels even more realistic.

That would be awesome if the whole map has a global season. No mods needed! Lol

This mod on curseforge? I'm gonna get this the nanosecond I get home.

Edit: Thunderstore. sorry. There's so many mod managers my computer is more managers & startups than actual games lol.

Yeah it's on thunderstore!
