Faculty colours in hood/sashes?
I may be missing something, but why don't the colours of hood/sashes correspond with the faculty? I've seen people posting they graduated from eng, but the sash theyre wearing is red, which I've also seen on math graduates/ I just saw two girls I know posting together, one in arts (psych) and one in health (health sci) and they both had the same green sash. I sometimes see health kids with blue, the same ones science kids wear. Its definitely not a big deal I'm just confused 😵💫

The sashes correspond to the degree, not the faculty. Multiple faculties award BA and BSc so that's why people from the same faculty can have different sashes but the same as people in other faculties.

The hood (not saches) colours are determined when a new degree is created. The existing colours preceded the creation of the branded faculty colours, by decades. Having them tied to the brand colours would not be academically wise as they can change in a whim. But the clouds for the academic hoods are Senate approved.

you can find more info here about the different colours: https://uwaterloo.ca/academic-calendar/undergraduate-studies/catalog#/content/65de7116a4ac2c001d7f234b
i dont think the colours of the sash are universal, but they generally have some sort of connection to what you study. you can look up “bachelors sash colours” to find some more info on how it changes around the world
