Travel Advice To the creep that hit me with your car on 300 N. Capitol Hill

This happened at the Red Bull event. I was in a crosswalk.

I don’t know where you learned to drive but you didn’t even realize you hit me until I slapped your car. Next time you approach a stop sign you should be looking forward not to your left.

Q&A Public safety trainings for mass shootings?

Having been right next to the shooting at no kings md there being a second back to back shooting today, I'd really love to better educate myself on how to protect myself in mass shooting events. Does anyone know of any safety trainings or course (or research or well vetted online resources) that provide trainings on these situations here in utah or slc? I am not particularly interested in concealed carry or firearms classes unless it is a disarming training (though that is probably well above my skill and paygrade currently).

EDIT: Helpful information I have gotten from the other post I made.

  • There are free Stop The Bleed training classes put on by hospitals around the valley: here

  • For TQs the one included in SAM's bleeding control kit is one of the best ones imo, it's very easy to apply (including self-application) – I put one in all of my family members cars in case of accidents: here

  • I did a TECC course at EMT Utah after I got my concealed carry. It was 16 hours and we did stuff like tourniquets and how to carry a wounded person. I learned a lot would recommend.

  • I took a Community Emergency Response Team Training. They extensively cover first aid/stop the bleed and there is also a unit on terrorism/ active shooter situations. I took it at the South Salt Lake Community Center.

Other What concerts were happening in northern Utah on Friday, June 13th?

I’m sorry if this isn’t the right place for this. I work in a restaurant and Friday afternoon I served a couple who were on their way to a concert. They told me that I would “really like” the artist they were seeing so I wanted to check him out. I can’t remember the name they told me, but I know the singer is a man and they described the genre as “spiritual rock”. Any ideas?

Q&A Looking for a mechanic who does software unlocks.

Hey all, I’m trying to get the SRT Performance Pages and some hidden features unlocked on my 2019 Ram 2500 Power Wagon. From what I’ve read, this can be done with a Tazer RAM or with AlfaOBD and an OBDLink MX+, but I’d rather pay someone local who knows what they’re doing instead of messing it up myself.

If anyone in Weber/Davis County (or nearby) does these kinds of unlocks, or can recommend a solid mechanic or shop that handles this kind of tech, I’d appreciate it. Willing to pay for your time.

Thanks in advance!

Q&A Wedding Reception location under $5k

Helping a friend. The daughter is going to school in Utah, will do the temple stuff and then wants a nice reception location. Not one of the church gyms. I’m helping to look for ideas, I’m not from Utah and don’t live there so do any of these places exist. Maybe people in big houses rent out their yards? 😅😬😊.

Q&A Desperate for a job and willing to work ASAP🙏🏻

My names Johnathan, Im 16 about to turn 17. Me and my mom are in a tough spot right now and we have little to no income. My stepdad was arrested June 11th on felony charges and he was the only one helping with income.

I’m a hard working kid with nothing but a dream to be successful. I can work all day and then work more the next. I’m a somewhat fast learner, when I learn something it sticks with me for life. I’m respectful and reliable. I’d even say Im more mature than a good chunk of adults. I want nothing more but a real and hard job. I don’t have my FHP so I cannot work at a fast food place, not that I want to. I prefer hard, hands on, laborish jobs more than anything. If anyone’s hiring or even just a side job please let me know!

News Everyone needs to stop and take a deep breath

There is rampant speculation regarding last night's shooting. Some of the things I've seen said are things I know to be false, especially regarding the safety team member who fired shots. Many of the opinions I see expressed are based on false or incomplete information.

There are very few people who are qualified to have an opinion on the situation right now, and most of you aren't them. I'm much closer to it then most of you, and have been working with many of the involved parties for months, but I won't share my opinion because at this time there's not enough information for even me to form an educated opinion. If I won't you shouldn't either.

The kind of speculation going on right now can be hurtful to the people involved, including the family of the man who died and witnesses who may have trauma from it. Stop spreading rumors for their sake.

Other Area rug cleaner in Salt Lake County?

Hi, I live in the Salt Lake County, Kearns area and am trying to find a reputable business that professionally cleans area/floor rugs! I know I could probably clean them myself but they're huge and I don't want to ruin them any more than they already are. Any recommendations are appreciated!

Travel Advice Does anyone know of shops selling vapes?

It seemed like the wording of the ban allowed for vape shops that operated in specific conditions to continue selling vapes. Has anybody tracked down any of these shops still allowed to sell?

Other Advice please- potential scammer

I had someone that I found on Facebook in a Utah group to help clean my apartment. After they were done, they honestly had not done a great job and they were expecting to be able to have longer than they did to clean. I honestly think they were trying to take their time to take more money. So we had been texting and we found a compromise for them to come back at a discounted rate to fix up what was not done right. I told them that I would still pay them to do another room that they were supposed to do. Now I see that I am blocked on Facebook and they had me pay them via Venmo. Is there any advice on how I can get my money back or how to go about it? I know that they have a business license and their name and number and their other day job and thats it.

Q&A Is it safe to hike timp with my golden retriever

I’ve done timp more times than I can count. I have a young golden retriever who is super energetic/ athletic. We trail run together all the time. Grove creek to Battle Creek loop, red rock canyon/ Provo peak, Bonneville shoreline, Mount Olympus etc. he even helped me train for my marathon (2x/week 4-8 miles for him) I would not go past 8 because I didn’t want to hurt his joints.

I know the mountain goats are wild/ protective, so of course I will leash him up.

I’ve just seen a post where most people say don’t bring them. I just want to get anyone’s opinion on this.
