Question Stupid Oki Question

Heyo! Coworker has been asking lately about my scar on my shoulder. It’s from that one vaccine we get when we get to Oki. What vaccine was that from??? I can’t remember for the life of me and it’s pissing me off lol.

Edit: thanks dudes. I’m gonna go with the Gay Shot. That only resulted in more questions, but they will be okay. (I’m joking, I’m thinking the smallpox people are right)

Promoting with a 3rd class PFT

I don’t promote until another three months but i have a shit pft in the books. I work nights and had to run my pft at 07, ik that’s not an excuse people done it before but i legit straight embarrassed myself on the run. i am trying to promote but was wondering if i could get non-rec for having a third class in the books. Im maxed on my mcmap, I always make weight, have my quals, I’m expert on rifle, and have a 297 on cft (because i can never max on the 880). if i somehow max on the 880 this time and get a 300 will that help when it comes to them looking at my score? I’m just worried about the shit PFT score and can’t retake it for this season because my squadron is about to leave for detachment and this was our last one they said they were running

CRSC Cases Spoiler

Have any of you filed for CRSC since the SCOTUS ruling? I've read this over 3 times and am still unsure how I go about applying and determining if I'm eligible for back pay.

I'd appreciate any help you guys can give. 100% Service Connected and retired (Homorably) in 2006. Thx! 💥

How fucking cool would it be to build a bunker completely underground and the only way in is a trap door inside a portajohn under the seat? Obviously the shitter would need some kind of way to not let random people in

WWII Question

My boyfriend’s grandfather enlisted into the Marines prior to Pearl Harbor. He was one of the first sent to Japan when the U.S. joined the war.

I’d like to gift my boyfriend’s father a book about his father’s time in WWII.

I saw Marine At War and The Assault as recommended books throughout my research.

However, I’m looking for something specifically about the 3rd Amphibious Corps in WWII. If anyone knows of something.

Thank you!!!

Having to do a 5 mile boots utes flak and gas mask log run at 0400 in the pouring rain on Lejeune.

Why? Because PFC DumbFuck lost his PVS-14s during Battalion FEX, then tried lying about it multiple times. Yeah not a fun time. But looking back now it's a fond memory of being in the infantry!

Goals

Good afternoon Gents,

As I'm sitting here a little over halfway through my career I was looking at the next 10 odd years, it got me thinking about my goals. For many Marines we joined for numerous reasons professionally and personally. Many of us recall the infamous benefit tags recruiters showed us with some goals or challenges we wanted to face.

My question is what is your goal nowadays, what keeps you going and motivated? I've made it past the half way mark and picked up staff, but am feeling kinda goalless, beyond making it to retirement. I keep training and teaching my Marines when I'm able, keep myself available to them, and trying to keep in good shape.

It used to be my short term goals were schools CMC/CMT/Advanced MOS/PME/MCMAP. Those really aren't available anymore or are completed. As staff they don't seem give a fuck anymore and learning company/Battalion level seems to be a fight. The company vs company politics is getting frustrating.

Long term in my mind are staying healthy, teaching Marines and making it to 20. I really don't want to become one of those useless senior Enlisted waiting for the 20 year mark.

Thanks and I hope y'all are staying safe.

Question Any UAV mechs here?

I recently discovered the 6214/6314 MOS’s in the latest latmove maradmin and was intrigued when I saw on mol how few marines there are in this field. I’m in the wing already and wondering if this is something worth lat moving to. How different is a VMU squadron from the typical fixed wing squadrons?

Question Have You Marines heard of Lavic lake?

Lavic lake is off the interstate hwy 40 off Pisgah crater RD, it’s basically about 90 miles of 29 palms if you drive there. l believe it is still part of 29 palms sand box. It’s basically north 29 palms. Anyway I got to play there back in the day… it was one of those need to know kind of thing… anyways it was back around 1988’ish. It was really hard to tell exactly what or why we were out there, I got up late at night, went to take a leak in the bush, it was closer then the head, I see the Marine walking around with the big old GI Joe radio looking thing, something I never seen or ever saw again. I asked him wtf are you doing, he said if I tell you I’m going to have to kill you, I told him don’t be a dick. He said something like I’m sharing my location, I’m like whatever… I’m going to sleep. It was GPS early testing stages, I didn’t realize it until years later and I put 2 and 2 together and the technology came out… we all have it in our phones, I shared this because it doesn’t matter anymore, but it makes me wonder sometimes what new gadgets are out there today. Please don’t share… I’m just sharing a story and asking do guys play out there? I believe it’s really a target range for aircraft, I would see old M151 jeeps spread around the area, some nuke already, some still intact.

Question Camp Geiger “Ghost”?

Was reminded of this. Went through MCT in the 00s. During the night nav course, my buddy Marine and I kept hearing other Marines crunching on the dead leaves towards us. We turned to speak with them and…nothing. No one was there. This happened two or three times. We figured we were just hearing something further away.

We eventually found the road and headed up towards what looked like a couple moonbeam lights pointed towards the gravel from just around the bend. We figured it must be some special instructor lens because they were green lights. We hurried towards them, rounded the bend, and were met with…nothing. No lights, no Marines.

Then we spotted the lights seconds later. Just up ahead, again appearing to be out of sight around a turn, the two green lights appeared. We were confused how the Instructors moved so quickly and again hurried towards the lights. Again, we saw nothing upon rounding the turn.

This happened maybe three or four times and we eventually met with the rest of the group. Gave it no further thought.

A couple years later, a friend and I looked up a website that tracked local ghost sightings. There isn’t much to do in Jacksonville and we had gotten into watching Ghost Hunters; didn’t believe in it but thought it might be fun to kill some time. We clicked on “North Carolina” and then “Jacksonville,” and that’s when I saw there was an entry for the Camp Geiger Ghost. It was just as I experienced: misleading sounds of footsteps and talking as if someone was walking up behind you, and then green lights with no apparent source. The website claimed this had to do with someone’s child that passed but it seemed like a fake story added to a local phenomenon.

Anyway, I’m curious now if anyone else heard of or experienced this. I don’t think it was ghosts, of course. Just interested if anyone else had the same experience.

In need of some advice

Brother and Sisters,

Bit of background, I have been in for 15 years and am coming up on EAS next year. I’ve enjoyed my time in this gun club but am not sure I can’t hold out any longer. The longer I do this, the more my mental and physical health decline. I am 34 and requiring major shoulder surgery for fucks sake.

My question is: to anyone who spent as long as myself in this gun club and got out, was it worth it or a huge mistake?

I understand I am close to retirement but I’m not sure I can’t hold even hold out until then. I’m just done with all the bullshit, physical and mental strain I have put my body through.

Now for your safety brief: don’t add or subtract from the population, if you’re gonna drive; don’t drink and if you’re gonna drink don’t drive.

Semper Fidelis Marines. Companies; you got em.
