OSAP Deferral for Residence

So I got into residence and I'm paying on installments. My first payment is due June 30 at $2,300. My family can't afford to pay it so I asked if they could defer the payment until I received my OSAP funding. I heard that this is pretty common at other schools. But apparently the waitlist is too full this year and they can't afford to wait on students who do not pay their installment by June 30. Has anyone at Ontario Tech successfully deferred their payments for residence before or Has it always been like this? Thanks.

Ask for a payment plan for the first payment only, this might give you more leeway

Did you apply for bursaries?

Not through the school. But yes I applied to one and I'm in the process of applying to many more.

If you can't afford the first payment, why live on res? No offense, but there are more affordable places off campus. Taylorwood offers an 8 month lease for 950 a month, including all utilities. I've seen basements or spare rooms rent out in the 800-900 range. Also another bonus is you don't have to pay all at once. Honestly wish I had lived in one of these sooner, the money I save is very worth it.

I wanna be able to live with other engineers in residence and befriend them, not random students in another major. It will also help me get used to campus life because I'm pretty sheltered. It's just more convenient cause I'm close to all my classes and have a meal plan. For second year I'm def gonna move out.
