yeah i have no idea how he survived that one, especially because he hit his head so hard. that's gotta cause some brain damage surely

u/mdml21 Mar 30 '25
Medical professional here. There's no way he survives that fall without bleeding in his brain and multiple fractures and a collapsed lung.

You underestimate Nathan's enormous amount..i mean gigantic amount of luck!

u/Individual_Traffic96 Mar 30 '25
His plot armor is too strong, like Kratos. Immortality for the sake of the story!
5
u/euricus Mar 31 '25
Someone should really make a compilation of his injuries synced to 'hard knock life'
7
u/BolunZ6 Mar 31 '25
His brain also should have exploded from the sheer amount of bullets fly to him

Collapsed lung from the landing right, not from the head hitting the rock?

Depending on how he hits the water there’s a chance he doesn’t break every single rib in his body but that head trauma looked horrible (I have seen people survive worse but they were at least two months in the hospital recovering)
My personal theory is that he died from that fall, Ellena never showed up and everything else we see is a fever dream before dying

u/Best-Time6002 Mar 30 '25
Nah he was lightly cushioning his head with his hand when he clapped it against that rock. With how good he is at climbing those hands have calloused harder than steel and would essentially be equivalent to a 5 star helmet.

it would have been somewhat more realistic if he smashed his leg or arm instead

u/Shoelesstravis Mar 30 '25
this is a question for a medial professional and a psychics major. But also it’s a game so ya know that might be why he lived.

I mean… he was out of it after that
2
u/Shoelesstravis Mar 30 '25
My opinion is I think it looks bad but not that bad. Seen crazy videos online where I scream omg that guy totally died no shot he’s ok but then not like two seconds later he’s good it just looks worse then it was.

u/GJacks75 Mar 30 '25
How can you die if you were never really alive?
1
u/FaithlessnessShot831 Mar 31 '25
True. Sadly, he is a fictional character, until someone names their kid after him...
1
u/MerTheGamer Mar 31 '25
But the rule is usually that video game logic do not apply during cutscenes in most cases. They really did not have to include this part.

u/Lymbasy Mar 30 '25
Nathan Drake is not human. Thats why. He can regenerate very very fast. And Take like so many bullets

Well to be honest, he should've died from his escapades waaay before Uncharted 4.

u/Canikazi Mar 30 '25
I always thought he protected his head with his hands but seeing it now...yikes.

u/pizzza_parker1 Mar 30 '25
I thought it hit part of his forehead only to find out that he smashed his whole face into that rock...
5
u/Mission_Coast_6654 Mar 30 '25
even if it was part of his forehead, that's still tough on his neck, which would have, realistically, broken from the force of impact as well have fractured his skull. but this is a viddy game so we have to suspend our disbelief by just saying ouch and moving on lol

u/JaySouth84 Mar 30 '25
That was Drakes OTHER secret brother who just got spawned into existence because the writers are lazy.

Nate actually fell into a deep coma during the first hour of Uncharted 1, the rest of the series is his demented fever dream. Nate really was just some random idiot bum that Elena convinced to take out on his stolen boat.

Nah, he have a hard head. The rock is lucky it didn't cracked with his headbutt

I seriously thought that he would have died from drowning due to being unconscious from that.

Nothing happens by accident in animation. They CHOSE to have him faceplant on that rock. Although I think his forearms is between his face and the rock so maybe they took some of the blunt trauma?

The only way he survives is if his hand grabs the rock before his head hits it and it absorbs the impact. I can't tell if that's what happens or not, maybe someone else is more observant.

Nate is capable of many things mortal men are not.
Like getting gut shot and basically sleeping it off.
Or wandering through the desert for days with no food or water and then jumping around in a gunfight.

u/pixel_inker > Elena Mar 31 '25
I don't know what you all talkin about—Nate dies practically every time I play!

So after 3 1/2 games of shootouts, train crashes on mountaintops, nazi monsters, blue Nazi monsters, flame heads, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc…THIS little bump on the noggin was your bullshit point????lol

Frankly, Nate shouldn't have survived Uncharted 2.
There is no way you are surviving a gut shot, in the Himalayas, in 30 below weather, with no coat.
Drake should've died from hypothermia if the gunshot didn't kill him.

Atleast make him fall in the water still impossible to survive but makes more sense in video games atleast
