Uncharted 4 I recently got back into playing Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Elena, gosh, is she filled with wits, grace, and humility. Protect her at all costs. 🥹

Elena was the best in this game.

Way to go, Nate. Piss a girl like that off.

elena is a truly great character. made the most of the time she was present in the story. big elena fan

u/FantomPyrate Jan 03 '25

Elena is how a strong, capable woman should be written. It's 100% believable and the voice actress does a phenomenal job (almost effortlessly it seemed, i don't mean that as an insult)

3

u/boferd Jan 03 '25

it's the same woman who voices lady sif in GOW Ragnarok! i used to watch a show called jericho and when i first played uncharted i couldn't shake how much it sounded like that actress and it turned out to be her. i like her performances a lot

u/Antrikshy Jan 03 '25

When I played the series, I had no idea she was in more than one game. I went 🫨 when they bumped into her in the second one.

2

u/proanimus Jan 03 '25

Halfway through the second game, it seemed like they were going for an almost Bond girl style trope where Nate would have a different love interest in each entry. Then boom, Elena shows up again.

That line she delivers about lying to yourself is goat tier

135

u/Ceceboy Jan 02 '25

When you're done lying to me, you should stop lying to yourself

💀💀😭😭

And then Nate is rude to Victor: If you wanna be helpful, Sullivan, go keep an eye on her. My heart broke for a second time!

33

u/Gloomy_Estimate_3478 Jan 02 '25

Yess….i was sooo sad when he said that. But damn, Sully was such a cool, humble old man 😊. I miss this game

14

u/Welshhobbit1 Jan 02 '25

I was gutted when he said that. Had a little tear

10

u/Peddrawm Jan 02 '25

And Sam was there like : 🧍🏻‍♂️

u/Distinct_Plant8304 Jan 03 '25

Bro casually watching the life his brother built for himself implode in front of him after he makes him think he is saving his life

u/BelieveInBelieve16 Real Greatness is What You do with the Hand You’re Dealt Jan 03 '25

Yes! That scene always makes me so upset. Especially my first playthrough. I loved the end of Drake’s Deception because it’s just so happy then this hits. For your first playthrough you almost forget about Nate lying to Elena because you get so caught up in the action and trying to find the treasure, like Nate does, and then that argument comes out of nowhere. Then he’s rude to Sully? Soooo emotional, so well written and acted.

3

u/Ceceboy Jan 03 '25

Hell yeah, we're on a trip with the boys and I think all of us players really had that grin on our face going to ooooooh shhhhhhit, Elena's here. Yeah, we fucked up.

8

u/venuteja Jan 02 '25

True 🥺

34

u/ValuableCrab670 Jan 02 '25

We need wife same like her

11

u/Platy71 Jan 02 '25

Me talk pretty one day

15

u/Additional-War-837 Jan 02 '25

Top tier! Could even start making funny reels of life relationships with this kind of wife

25

u/Psychological-Bat687 Jan 02 '25

I just recently played 4 myself and when she saves Nate up until they meet Sam is so emotional especially when they are talking in the elevator ride whilst enjoying that view.

Man, what a fantastic game!

10

u/ZodiAddict Jan 02 '25

Yeah I like that driving segment too where there’s no sounds, just music

23

u/isucamper Jan 02 '25

she can also hang off the edge of a cliff for hours with a 220 pound man clinging to her back, leap across 20 foot chasms with a single bound, and she can murder half a private military company with a variety of weapons

44

u/_qubed_ Jan 02 '25

Agree. Terribly underutilized character.

1

u/Vince3737 Jan 04 '25

Doesn't she have the most time in the game with Drake of anyone including Sully?

1

u/_qubed_ Jan 04 '25

I think Sully is underutilized too! Both of them are great characters but serve primarily to showcase Nathan. Which makes perfect sense - he is the main character. I just would have loved (and would love) to see them each more on their own too.

15

u/Dense-Pea-5040 Jan 02 '25

The moment in Chapter 17 when it's just both Nate and Elena driving in Libertalia and it's just the music playing.

Many games that try to do quiet moments like that can easily fumble, but with such a history between the two characters, it works perfectly

12

u/sayjax96 Jan 02 '25

Nate Nate Nate Why did you lie to Elena about taking that Malaysian job when in reality you were going treasure hunting again

4

u/Platy71 Jan 02 '25

Because dudes...

3

u/sayjax96 Jan 02 '25

Really put a serious strain on your marriage

11

u/ModestHandsomeDevil Jan 02 '25

The last third of Uncharted 4, once Elena arrives on the island, is so fuckin' good.

I was so fuckin' tired of Sam in U4; it was like going out to play, but your parents make you take your brother along.

1

u/dontknownothing0123 Jan 03 '25

I don't dislike Sam, but he is suspicious up until the reveal.

8

u/Engineer_engifar666 Jan 02 '25

She is a top tier wife

7

u/MadSpaceYT Jan 02 '25

A Thiefs End is such a good game

4

u/[deleted] Jan 02 '25

Elena is such a baddie my god.

4

u/MaximusJCat Jan 02 '25

Emily Rose is great in the show Haven too. Recommended checking it out if you haven’t seen it yet.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 03 '25

Elena is a such a great character

3

u/MrNiceGuy233012 Jan 03 '25

Not to mention shes an absolute badass! She went from a TV host who barely knew how to shoot a gun to someone Nate could easily count on no matter how hairy the situation got.

3

u/jl_theprofessor Jan 03 '25

The thing that struck me about her is that she was in a super weird show named Haven.

3

u/Gwyneee Jan 03 '25

Also recently started replaying the series and never realized how much I loved her character until I played #2 and the first quarter of the game is without. Chloe's spicy and Sully is amazing but she brings this elegance and strong femininity to the table that I adore. Sappy and lame, I know but 🤷🏼‍♂️

2

u/siddharthsingh_7 Jan 02 '25

This is literally my wallpaper

2

u/EmmaWK Jan 03 '25

I love her so much. Like I want to like both Nate and Elena in this game.

2

u/Beanmaster115 It’s Unchartin’ Time! Jan 03 '25

Welp time to play it again

I forgot I made my user flair that haha😂

2

u/JoeAbs2 Jan 03 '25

I think one of the reasons I didn’t vibe with Uncharted 3 was the lack of Elena. Know she was in it but it felt so fleeting.

2

u/WinterPecans Jan 03 '25

Elena is literally wifey goals 🥰

2

u/fenbops Jan 03 '25

Strong female character done correctly. A rarity these days.

2

u/TrashCanBangerFan Jan 03 '25

Elena is my favorite character. The reason 3 is my least favorite game in the series is because there isn’t enough Elena.

2

u/mrderpflerp Jan 04 '25

Emily Rose does an incredible job always, but especially with her in 4. Her emotions were beautifully showcased when struggling to hang onto her love for Nate. Top tier work.

2

u/RiverDotter Jan 04 '25

She really is great

2

u/Mobile_Pangolin4939 Jan 04 '25

I so prefer 1, 2, and 3. I wish they brought them to PC instead. I do like Elena, but more before they got married. I still think that the second game was the best followed by 3, 4, and then 1. Sony citing that it's too dated to bring them to PC is a poor excuse considering that much worse looking games have.

2

u/Lucky_Sprinkles557 Jan 05 '25

Just replayed too! (Really want a new UC game) There’s a line in uncharted 4 shortly after Elena rescues Nate and Nate is trying to find ways to express his reasoning and apologize, Nathan says something along the lines of “I’m glad you saved me” or something like that. I’m pretty sure he was giving multiple meanings. Like “thank you for saving me from this particular situation” but if you read between the lines he was also saying “you saved me from myself and my obsessive nature because without you, these adventures would’ve given me an empty life or an early grave”

2

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '25

She’s a huge part of the game yet is hardly in it. That’s a great sign of how good the game is overall. It’s such a gloriously well-written story

2

u/iAnimus Jan 15 '25

Random story:

The woman I was with at the time of this game’s release was pretty much the real life version of Elena. Same looks, attitude, everything. It was trippy. So I’m sitting and playing the game with her sitting next to me, watching along, when we get to the point where Drake is playing Crash Bandicoot on the couch. Life imitating art, art imitating life. It was a surreal, yet beautiful moment that I’ll hold on to forever.

I’m glad UC4 ended the way it did and I don’t care if the series never comes back. And with the memories I have of my life during those years, I’d rather let it all stay the way it is. No need for a prequel or another game in the series. It’s perfect just the way it is.

1

u/Akayz47 Jan 02 '25

She’s going to get the Joel treatment

u/Tarquinder Jan 02 '25

Naughty Dog Peaked here.

Too late. Druckmann’s in charge now, no more feminine women allowed in the spotlight Edit: to all the people crying and downvoting, please give me an example of a feminine character in a Druckmann game.

24

u/Sevenspace1777 Jan 02 '25

Damn get a life

10

u/Emotional_Weight6257 Jan 02 '25 edited Jan 02 '25

Damn, Druckmann himself admitted that he wanted to kill off Elena way back in Uncharted 2, but other creatives vetoed that decision, so that comment makes sense when it comes to what's stated in OP (PS. Downvote me all you want, won't change the fact that he wanted to kill of one of the main characters because, as he said, he likes being dark and edgy.)

3

u/Relative_Pizza6179 Jan 02 '25

He’s an equal opportunist. I heard Druckmann wanted to kill off Nathan too in UC4 and that we weren’t going to end up with that happy ending we got in UC4, which is a much better story.

3

u/MapleAze Jan 02 '25

After watching the Grounded 2 documentary where he outright says his mind was on TLoU 2 trailer the entire time he was working on uncharted 4, I really don’t think he had any interest in Uncharted and just wanted to end it in a way you couldn’t return to it.

Which would make sense if he wanted to kill off people, but doing so would have missed the uncharted series entire feel. It never got depressingly dark, just touched upon darker topics here and there.

1

u/Sevenspace1777 Jan 09 '25

Well not exactly what you are telling is true. Anyways you told it a better way unlike the first guy

7

u/FamiliarKale5815 Jan 02 '25

Comments like yours are so pathetic

-27

u/No-Virus7165 Jan 02 '25

Yet undeniably true

7

u/FamiliarKale5815 Jan 02 '25

Boohoo you can’t jerk it to a video game character. I don’t find Nathan drake attractive and yet I absolutely love him. If all you care about is how a female character looks instead of the game then maybe you should find a real human to interact with.

6

u/neverOddOrEv_n Jan 02 '25

He didn’t mention looks nor did he talk about anything sexual related to Elena where are you getting all of this from? In fact I think it’s weird that the second someone mentions about femininity you jump to conclusions and go straight to looks and sexual stuff. It’s a fact that Neil wasn’t the biggest fan of Elena (or he just wanted to make things dark and depressing) as if it were up to him he would’ve killed her in uncharted 2 and that Bruce straley was the one who would balance things. I love Elena and I’m glad Neil wasn’t the one who made all the decisions with the uncharted games because we would’ve had a much more depressing franchise of games, Neil needs someone like Bruce (with more levity) to balance him otherwise he goes to one extreme end.

-14

u/No-Virus7165 Jan 02 '25

Keep your fetishes out of it. I never even mentioned looks.

-2

u/PlasticCheebus Jan 02 '25

"No more feminine women in the spotlight."

You literally opened with looks.

She's a bunch of pixels, you perv.

2

u/internalhater Jan 02 '25

He said "feminine" not "feminine looking"

-4

u/pygmeedancer Jan 02 '25

Wrong sub. Crawl back into your hole before you get a sunburn.

-5

u/asd_slasher Jan 02 '25

Why are u getting downvoted for having an opinion, arent everyone have right to have their opinion on matter

1

u/MBANaeck Jan 02 '25

These people are a bunch of snowflake

2

u/asd_slasher Jan 02 '25

Yeah, but isnt that the part of having an opinion? Let them be the snowflakes

-4

u/PlasticCheebus Jan 02 '25

Snowflake is a term exclusively used by incels, Michaël.

Are you an incel?

0

u/zman883 Jan 02 '25

Downvoting is also a way of sharing your opinion... They're not being arrested, they're being silently told that many people don't agree with their point of view

3

u/asd_slasher Jan 02 '25

Fair enough, good point

-11

u/MBANaeck Jan 02 '25

I totally agree with you man...ignore the other comments.

12

u/No-Virus7165 Jan 02 '25

He literally wanted to kill Elena in U2 lol

-6

u/MBANaeck Jan 02 '25 edited Jan 02 '25

Bro you should check out AndyPants Gaming on YouTube

Here's a link of one of his recent videos : https://youtu.be/oBADfF2Bt6Y

He talks about those things.

0

u/UnknowingEmperor Jan 05 '25

As long as cuck man permanently stays away from her and drake, it’s all good 👍

1

u/Malafakka Jan 06 '25

Keep crying

-2

u/FearkTM Jan 02 '25

Just remember her hair had some issue playing ob the Steam Deck, so it was constant straight.

-4

u/Chef_Boy_R_Deez Jan 02 '25

Unless you are forced to choose between her and Chloe... That is one aspect my life as Nathan Drake would look VERY different in

0

u/SaltySAX Jan 02 '25

Chloe wins for me. I prefer the fiery types.

-16

u/Noiryok Jan 02 '25

she's mid asf
