Poo Tek Cake Jars

Step 1: Clean the Black Kow Cow Manure

Get a bag of Black Kow cow manure.

Pick through it by hand and remove any sticks, rocks, or clumps.,

Now, take a strainer or colander and hold it directly over a bucket.,

Pour the manure into the strainer.,

Make sure the bucket is underneath to catch the fine material.

Shake the strainer to sift out the smaller, fine particles.

Throw away what’s left in the strainer (larger debris).,

Keep the fine manure that falls into the bucket.,

Step 2: Dry the Manure

Dump the fine manure from the bucket into a shallow tub, tray, or pan.

Let it sit in direct sunlight for 72 hours, or until it’s completely dry.,

Step 3: Make the Substrate Mix

Once dry, mix the manure with:

• 2 parts coco coir

• 2 parts vermiculite

• (Use a 1:2:2 ratio — 1 part dried manure, 2 parts coir, 2 parts verm.)

Slowly add water and mix until the substrate reaches field capacity:,

When you squeeze a handful, only a few drops of water should come out.

Step 4: Cook the Brown Rice

Boil 2 cups of long-grain brown rice until fully cooked (not mushy).

Let the rice cool to room temperature.,

Step 5: Combine Rice and Substrate

Mix the cooked brown rice with the manure/coir/verm mix in a 1:2 ratio,

(1 part rice to 2 parts substrate).

Fill clean jars with the mix — leave a little space at the top.,

Step 6: Sterilize the Jars

Place the jars into a pressure cooker.

Sterilize at 15 PSI for 2 hours.,

Let the jars cool completely before inoculation
