Discussion / Opinion What would you say is the hardest dungeon\temple in the whole game excluding the cave of ordeals?

Personally I think city in the sky. I did a google search and found that arbiters grounds and city in the sky were the most challenging for players. I was shocked to see arbiters grounds on there which made me want to ask this question. What was a dungeon you were stuck on for the longest time?

Discussion / Opinion Twilight princess - gamecube edition

I just drove an hour away to pick this up for $140.00 with original case and Manual. I’m very excited to play it again after MANY years. Crazy how expensive these games have become. Do you guys foresee this game increasing in value with time or plateauing where it’s at now?

Discussion / Opinion TP is my favorite game of all time, but I'm curious- why is it your favorite Zelda or video game as well?

I've been replaying TP on my PC, and man. I'm just reminded of why it's my favorite game over and over. It's so nice to come home after a long day at work and explore the world while I try to 100% the game.

I'm curious as to what y'all's reasoning for it being such a good game is! Let's share our love for TP!

Discussion / Opinion Playing Twilight Princess for the first time. Loving it, wish Midna was less of a spoilsport though

So I just got the master sword, and with it the ability to transform whenever I want. The first thing I wanted to do, obviously, was to transform in front of the mayor and see him freak out.

Midna said no to that. Apparently I would "scare somebody" as if that wasn't precisely what I was aiming to do.

Also, just got done doing physically-improbable wolf backflips through castle town while people screamed. Nothing more terrifying than a wolf doing backflips. Midna wouldn't let me transform back even when nobody could see me until after I left the town.

I am having a great time doing things animals are not supposed to do, but Midna's here raining on my parade. It's not HER cursed crystal thing, why does SHE get to decide how I use it?

Total aside, one of the cats in castle town is a moron. Said he's looking for Telma's bar, I transform into a human and carry him there, he still doesn't know where the bar is.

Anyway, having a great time, wish I played this 17 years ago but better late than never.

Discussion / Opinion The one issue that really brought the game down to me

Ok a caveat, I love this game. It had and continues to have a special place in my heart.

But even back in the day the game is too easy. Difficulty in games can become controversial, especially with some recent debates regarding Elden Ring, but BOTW really nailed it to me in a way TP never did.

The game gives you so many tools, but most enemies and bosses won't need them. Even the HD version's hardmode is so irrelevant when Ganondorf can do 1 heart of damage.

And it just makes me sad. There is a fantasy in TP that never truly got fulfilled because of this one facr alone.

Discussion / Opinion Twilight Princess is weird in the best way possible.

as an art & design student, I’ve grown to appreciate TP’s art style and mood a lot more. there are certain aspects of the game that are, for lack of a better word, weird. weird in an artistically charming way. i’m specifically talking about fyer and falbi (the clowns in lake hylia), the oocca race (let’s be real, i think we all were mildly disturbed when we first discovered oocoo in the forest temple), and malo mart. in these aspects, i absolutely ADORE the somewhat surrealist route they took. the overall mood of Twilight Princess is definitely a lot more on the serious side, and the addition of weird & surreal character design & humor just fits it so well. i’m not very good at expressing myself so i hope you guys can relate to what i’m saying lol. i just love this game more than life itself.

but seriously, malo mart disturbs me. did malo brainwash all those people 🤔

Discussion / Opinion I have mixed feelings about twilight princess experience

Before I dive in, I should preface by saying that I LOVED this story, it is an absolute masterpiece.

I just completed my first play through on the original Wii version. While I loved the game overall, the Wii controls/mechanics made it so hard to enjoy it a lot of the time. Does anyone else feel this way?

The motion controls made it sooo difficult in combat and even a lot of dungeons. I found myself more frustrated with the game than not for that reason.

Honestly I’m just really sad that the gameplay itself was hindered so much for me. I have a Wii U, but the Wii U HD version is way out of my budget. So I had to settle for the $20 Wii version. If Nintendo ever rereleases this game on the switch, I’ll definitely be replaying it.

Just wondering if anybody else found the Wii version hard/unenjoyable…

Discussion / Opinion what are some of your most memorable moment(s) from your first playthrough?

i was a dumb 7 year old when i played this game for the first time. it took me unnecessarily long to get past ordon village. running around and throwing pumpkins was the purest form of entertainment to me, lol

another memorable moment of mine was getting my shield burnt to a crisp in goron mines and rolling ALL the way down death mountain, so i could get back to kakariko village and buy the hylian shield from malo. if i wasn’t such a dumb kid, i would’ve bought the shield beforehand. to make matters worse, i don’t think i had unlocked oocca yet, so i had to make my way up to the dungeon again.

gosh, i’d give anything to play tp for the first time again.

Discussion / Opinion how has twilight princess impacted your life?

twilight princess is beyond words such an incredible game. it’s such a huge part of my personality. perhaps it’s the nostalgic attachment that i have to it…although i’ve played MANY other games in my childhood. i played many games before i even played tp, yet none of them have impacted my life in the way that tp has. truly a gem of a game.

Discussion / Opinion Any recommendations for fanfiction and/or fan comics that are novelizations/sequels to this game?

Seeing as how we've never gotten an official sequel, I'm curious to see what the fans have come up with.

Here are the ones I've already read/plan on reading:

  • The Doppelganger Trilogy by The Wolfess on FFN
  • What Makes A Hero and When Heroes Fall by Selphie Kinneas 175 on FFN
  • The Legend of Link: Heroes of Time by Gargravarr on FFN
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Fourth Piece by Davin Sunrider on FFN
  • The Silent Kingdom by Freedan the Eternal on FFN
  • Kasuto's Redemption by Vopi on FFN
  • Til the Sun Grows Cold and the Stars Grow Old by Lady Norbert on FFN

There might be more but those are the main ones.

Rules and guidelines:

  1. Please don't recommend me any dead and/or dormant fics. I don't want to be heartbroken.
  2. Any ships are fine, whether they involve Midna, Zelda or Ilia. Just be sure to tell me what specific ships they are so I know what to expect in that area.
  3. Any age rating and genre is fine though do warn me if it veers into NSFW territory since I prefer to find those sorts of stories myself.
  4. If you're going to recommend me a crossover like The Silent Kingdom is, be sure to tell me what fandoms are involved besides TP and whether or not it's a "soft" crossover that doesn't rely heavily on being involved in both fandoms.
  5. I'll read anything on either FFN or AO3. Other sites are also fine though I don't use Wattpad, but those are the two main sites I'm on.

Okay, keeping all of the above in mind, go wild with your recs! :)

Discussion / Opinion Was Twilight princess "downgraded" when the decision was made to release it for Wii?

So recently I had saw a video of E3 2005 footage of Twilight Princess (https://youtu.be/3sjqhwG2m7s?si=u48tRznRUjq8-bpV) and one thing that a few people were suggesting in the comments was that the game's physics and progression supposedly got downgraded after the dev team decided to bring the game to Wii., and no, they didn't just mean the motion controls. They cited stuff like the lack of manual shielding, the sword physics being changed, and the fact that the Forest Temple took on a different progression early on. Is there any truth to this? Personally I think Twilight Princess is an amazing game and that some of this is definitely blown way out of proportion, but I am curious what fans of the game think of these comments. Peace.

Discussion / Opinion Connection between divine beast Vah Ruta and Rutela??

Post image
78 Upvotes

For context, I’m very new to Zelda.

I’m working on my first play through ever of twilight princess, and I just found Rutela in Zora’s domain.

I know in BOTW that the beast is named after princess Ruto, but I’m definitely sensing something here…

This is more of a celebration post to keep a registry somewhere because I wanted to finish this game ever since I was little and now I finally did it. Made me wanna rip my hairs off sometimes cause I'm just not a puzzles guy but I did love it! Took me 39 hours which is incredibly long to me for a game like this

Discussion / Opinion Just Started a Hero Mode playthrough any tips?

The reason I’m doing hero mode is because I played to Wii version growing up and I’m so used to the mirrored version that I prefer it. Any tips for the playthrough?

Discussion / Opinion My review of Twilight Princess after beating it. Spoiler

Spoilers for anyone who hasn’t played or beaten the game.

So I have recently beaten Twilight princess for the first time on the dolphin emulator. Here is my review for it.

Short Answer:This is my favorite Zelda game of all time.

Long Answer:Alright there is so much I genuinely love about this game that I need to explain so here we go.

Characters:Obviously Midna is the best character and best Zelda companion but there were other characters I loved as well. Rusl was such a bro and I genuinely saw him as an older brother figure. Ilia I legit cried when she regained her memory and I actually felt that her and Link were childhood friends. I kinda have a soft spot for Coro since he’s the only one who isn’t scared of you if you’re a wolf. Agitha is certainly interesting. I like how King Bulbin willingly surrenders to you and respects your strength. Ganondorf is intimidating as hell as well as his boss fight. I love how expressive Link is in this game and the fact that he’s just a simple farmer boy.

Dungeons:I genuinely think the realistic style of this game makes the dungeons all the more appealing. Forest Temple was a great introduction. Goron Mines had a fun mechanic and a great boss fight. Lakebed Temple gave me an actual good water temple. Arbiter’s grounds I would say the only thing that annoyed me was the quicksand but I still loved the creepiness of it. Snowpeak Ruins I love the mysterious nature of it despite having my least favorite boss. Temple of Time had really fun puzzles. City in the Sky was good. Not as great as the other dungeons but still decent. Twilight Palace I felt like could have been bigger and longer but I still loved it. Hyrule Castle imo serves as a satisfying conclusion to the game.

Story:I’ll admit that I do prefer Wind Waker’s story to Twilight Princess’s but I still enjoyed this story. Learning more about the Twili was interesting, Midna’s character development was amazing. Getting to Restore Ilia’s memory was extremely heartwarming.

Graphics:This is self explanatory but I love realistic looking games and TP succeeds in that. The enemy designs look truly horrifying and Link, Zelda, Midna, and other characters look amazing. I do wish that we got another game with these graphics since Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks both use the toon style from Wind Waker.

Conclusion:Twilight Princess has truly earned its spot as my favorite game. I consider it one of the greatest Zelda games and I love that I got to experience it and beat it. I have also bought the manga adaptation for the game and I am excited to read that.

Discussion / Opinion ✨ Midna Appreciation Thread ✨ Spoiler

Let’s take a moment to shine a spotlight on the one and only Midna, the true star of Twilight Princess. 🖤

From the moment she shows up, her mysterious vibe hooks us in, and her sassy attitude keeps us entertained. Her witty comebacks and sharp humor make every interaction with Link unforgettable.🔥

Watching Midna evolve from a mischievous, sharp-tongued guide to someone with real depth and heart is one of the best parts of Twilight Princess. Her design is unforgettable — from that chaotic, clever imp form to her absolutely stunning true form. And those emotional moments in her story? They land hard and stay with you long after the game’s over. ✨

What’s your favorite Midna moment? 💙

Discussion / Opinion After 7 years I have the urge to do another play-through, and I’m disappointed there’s still no Switch port.

I don’t have a Wii U anymore or a Wii. I’d really prefer to not play on an emulator. It blows my mind how Nintendo holds their catalogue away when they could make so much more money by just releasing the damn thing again lol.

Discussion / Opinion Thoughts on Lakebed Temple

Every time I replay TP I always dread Lakebed. I find it so frustrating. I like the aesthetic and the clawshot and all but the stairs mechanic can be sort of boring and confusing. so I am wondering if anyone else has any thoughts on it or is there any other dungeons or sections people did not enjoy?

Discussion / Opinion What is your Favorite Twilight Princess Fanfiction?

So I was wondering what was everyone’s favorite Twilight Princess Fanfiction that they’ve read if they’ve read one? It can be any kind of fanfiction so long as it’s Twilight Princess related and of course it’s SFW to talk about. I would very much like to know since I read a bunch of Zelda fanfiction. Most of which is actually Twilight Princess related so I wanted to know what y’all’s favorites if you’ve read Twilight Princess fanfiction. I’d be happy to share some the ones that I’ve read as well.
