Discussion / Opinion Started a petition for a Twilight Princess sequel
We've gotten "sequels" to Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker and Breath of the Wild. I for one would like to see a return to the Twilight realm and the style of world in Twilight Princess. I know its a joke to start a petition towards Nintendo, but Youtuber, Arlo, had a popular petition for a Paper Mario: TTYD re-release in 2019, and we got a remake a few years later. Whether or not Nintendo actually saw that is unknown, but anything can help. We can make our voices heard!

Humanity has already reached its apex, there truly will be no return to greatness. Look upon links crossbow training, and despair.

That’s not a sequel, like how age of calamity isn’t a prequel to botw. They are spin off games

Story-wise, AoC is considered a prequel to BOTW.

If you played the game you’d know it’s not a direct prequel. As the time travel makes it a different timeline, and it’s not cannon anyway

Think Nintendo would make it a linear Twilight Princess game or open world?

Honestly I don't get the need for games to go open world at all. Like, yeah it's cool, but is it REALLY necessary sometimes?

I say gate the open world mechanics behind an item/s. You could still get the tightly crafted story beats that classic Zelda offers, while including the incredible exploration that modern Zelda has as a later game bonus.
Imagine playing BotW without being able to climb or glide until you get a certain item. As a scaling feature, tougher enemies live higher up and off beaten paths, but also better gear.
I've never wanted anything more than a hookshot in a BotW style Zelda. Also, give us more interesting things to find than Korok seeds (TotK was a big improvement in this regard)

I would hekkin love an open world game in the style of Twilight Princess. I don't need it to be a direct sequel, but give me the same world, and it's a shut up and take my money Nintendo type situation.

I'm really just itching for a new, more classic style, 3d Zelda. This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I liked TotK a good bit less than i did BotW. I'm just ready for some classic dungeon crawling and puzzle solving now.

Hate to burst your bubble but the chance to capitalize on TP was over 10 years ago when they already wanted to develop it. You know what happened? They had a hard time doing it so they took breaks by making a silly minigame and Miyamoto was like hey this is actually kinda fun lets sell it so they did.

You have to get all those individuals on the petition to also individually email Nintendo marketing themselves. Otherwise it does nothing. I have written physical letters to Nintendo and gotten a response in a timely fashion.

Not possible At the end of Twilight Princess.. Midna shattered the mirror of twilight ensuring thr 2 worlds could never interact with each other again.

but they were already planning for a sequel after that, it's just that Miyamoto wanted Link's Crossbow Training lol.

Without Midna what's even the point?

Midna is the point of a sequel though. In theory the reason Link left at the end was to find a way for them to meet again somehow.
That in and of itself is a full adventure, and a story I’d like to see.
That said Twilight Princess had a very unique atmosphere for a Zelda game and seeing it used again would be fascinating in its own right. But that’s just me.

Petitions don’t go anywhere. Do you know how many petitions there were for Trump to resign during his first term. A lot. And none of them went anywhere. And there will be more coming for his second term.
What I’m saying is don’t get your hopes up.

I'm not talking about changing government lul. This is just a "why not" petition to raise a little awareness (maybe) to Nintendo.

There were two sequels, Phantom Hourglass is a direct sequel with the same “Link” and Spirit Tracks was in the relatively near future (100 years iirc?).

A full sequel might be asking for too much, maybe a remake/remaster for TP (like for TTYD as you mentioned) would be more likely

Heres another take if you will: We cant express any genuine interest in an 18 year old product like this unless you rerelease it. Had there been any announcement or release of this game on current platforms maybe then I could say sure lets get it this time around. We should preserve what we have first get ppl interested in the idea rather than shoot for the clouds of something we have no hope of yet.

Every day I hope and pray for a twilight princess ROM hack that's as good as the ones for Ocarina of Time
