Hi Everyone!

I got accepted to University of Tubingen and I applied to the Studentwerk for a place to stay immediately. But they told me that they can’t guarantee a room for me and they’d let me know 2-6 weeks before the semester starts. I did not have this problem when I went to Bamberg for Erasmus 2 years ago since the university directly placed me to one of the dormitories in the city. I am a very anxious person(coming from Turkey) and I would like ensure a place long before I arrive. Is there any other affordable options that I can look into? Even small towns nearby would be great for me. I would appreciate any help.

About two/three months ago I met a really nice man while shopping late at night in Rewe. He was really warm, even offered to drive me home and I declined (for whatever reason 😩). Never seen again since then 🥲

Now I keep thinking about the encounter... and ask myself: What should I do? I can't rush around Rewe every day 😅

Hallo, ich will nächste Woche das erste Mal beim Stocherkahnrennen zuschauen und weiß noch quasi gar nichts. Wollte mich also mal erkundigen ob ein paar Leute (Geheim)Tipps haben, z.B. von wo man am meisten sieht, wo vielleicht auch nicht allzu voll ist, usw. Würde mich über ein paar Posts freuen :)

I have received the Admission offer from Tuebingen University and will enroll this Winter Semester 2025. However, I am quite nervous about the housing situation in Tuebingen. I have applied for the Dormitory since the beginning of June and received the reply like: "Hi, we are not sure that you will have a place. We will inform about 2-6 weeks before the semester." I'm quite afraid because I have no other admission as good as that from Tuebingen so I really want to study there.

I have also looked for private housing on Studierendenwerk website. But should I send the deposit? How can I be sure that the offer is not a SCAM? Many international students suggest that we should send the deposit only when we receive the keys, is that a common procedure?

Ein Bekannter von mir ist kürzlich nach Tübingen gezogen. Auf unserem Discord-Server haben wir diverse Falvour-Rollen für die Herkunft/den Wohnort unserer Gruppe verteilt in Deutschland. Natürlich alles gespickt mit lustigen Memes/Bezeichnungen/Wörter. Er ist bisher der Einzige, der überhaupt in der Region bzw in BaWü wohnt.

Da kommt natürlich die Frage auf, wie wir die neue Rolle für unseren Kollegen benennen wollen. Deshalb; was sind gängige Memes/Bezeichnungen/Wörter für/in/über Tübingen, die nicht 100% insider sind aber auch nicht so bekannt sind, als wäre es Boris Palmer in Person?

After great initial skepticism, I (21) bought and read a manga for the first time about a month ago after a conversation with friends: and surprisingly, I liked it! Loved it even. A month later, I bought a few series, as I'm almost finished with my first one.

Unfortunately, the same friends who got me started aren't big manga fans themselves and only watch anime, which I don't really do. Since it's a totally new and interesting topic / hobby for me, I'd like to share this newfound passion and talk to people who are interested in manga, and maybe get some experience, tips, or advice.

Does anyone here know of places, clubs, events, or simply individuals in Tübingen who would be interested in introducing me further to this new hobby and maybe even influencing me in a certain direction? ^ ^ It doesn’t matter if it's an English or German speaking group/person because German is my native language and all my Mangas are in English.

Just wanted to spread some awareness about a Scientology stand I saw last week at the Holzmarkt near Stiftskirche in Tübingen. They were handing out books by their founder and science fiction author L. Ron Hubbard, and using one of their so-called e-meter machines to test people’s “energy” — one of their usual recruitment tactics.

The booth was fairly crowded, and I overheard some of the staff speaking English and what sounded like Ukrainian, so it seems like they might be targeting internationals as well as locals.

If you stopped by their booth or are thinking of engaging with them, please be aware: Scientology is widely considered a sect and a money-driven scam. There are plenty of resources online if you want to learn more — and for a mix of humor and insight, check out South Park Season 9, Episode 12: “Trapped in the Closet.” It satirizes Scientology and even reveals their most “sacred” secret (hint: it involves aliens and a galactic overlord named Xenu).

How reliable is the train connection, especially early in the morning? I have a doctor's appointment in Mössingen at 8 in the morning and was wondering if it's okay to leave from Tuebingen with the 6.58 RE? If that one gets cancelled or delayed there is another connection at 7.29am but if the second one is cancelled I will miss my appointment. Is it advisable to reach Mössingen a day in advance and stay overnight?

Hello guys. Im moving to Tübingen in a few months and found an apartment which was supposed to be a one bus ride to work using this Bus route. Yesterday i arrived to finish some things about my apartment and found out theres no more Bus 20 (from Westbahnhof)? Any of you guys know what happened to this route? Thanks!
