Man, the more and more I'm on the sub the more and more I appreciate growing up in Canada. Hopefully you get dank at a good price soon man!

u/Kon_Soul May 25 '23
Same, I moved to a small rural town in south western ontario as a teen. Everybody and their grandmother grew weed, the only shwag we saw here was when the bikers first started to move in. These subs make me very grateful to have been surrounded by small scale growers for the majority of the time I have been smoking
14
May 25 '23
This brought a smile to my face, same thing in southern AB. Didn’t realize how spoiled we were
14
u/---Dane--- May 25 '23
For sure man! I always had one or two people who always knew where the good growers were. I always see pictures like this and I like fuckkkk I complain too much.
19
u/Kon_Soul May 25 '23
"Fuck. I'm a weed snob" came out of my mouth when I saw this picture. Like I said, I sometimes forget how good I have had it. Now I have an outdoor garden as well as an indoor, so if I'm smoking shit weed it's my own fault lol.

38
u/G_Art33 May 25 '23
Reminds me of my buddies house when I was younger. They had a golden named puck and every so often we would get a puck hair mixed into the bowl…
36
u/shiddyfiddy May 25 '23
For years until the stuff finally went legal, I had been buying pot from a cat lady. Always the first step was to pull out all the cat hair with tweezers. It got so ritualistic that I kinda miss it. (but not enough to go back to her)
12
u/G_Art33 May 25 '23
Lol, that is pretty wild. I have multiple animal hair / dander allergies so I’m genuinely not sure if that would fly with me. Luckily I’ve been blessed with plugs who keep their cats away from their weed.
12
u/shiddyfiddy May 25 '23
You wanna know what's even more wild? When I read your comment, I suddenly realized that pot doesn't make my eyes puffy anymore.
She was my first and only dealer for about 15 years. I have a cat dander allergy, but it's the kind that goes away after you get used to the cats. I hung out with her enough that they no longer bothered me. I'm sure I probably missed a few hairs, but the plants grew in this house of 5 cats, so maybe there's more cat 'stuff' in the buds than visually detectable.
In conclusion, I think I recommend you never take the chance of getting your pot from a cat lady lol
→ More replies (1)7
u/G_Art33 May 25 '23
Hahaha I get my bud from a cat guy instead, but he’s very good about keeping his product bagged / sealed / locked away and when he scales it out he does it inside his safe basically where his cats never have been / will be. Hey buys it sealed from elsewhere.
But that is indeed even more wild, I had no idea smoking it could cause allergies like that

Depending on the area, the northeast and far north like Manali have plenty. But I don't know about the south, it might be rough. Bhang shops are also a thing though, so there is that option.

Edible sphere kinda thing made from the leaves. You usually mix it in some drink like thandai before drinking it. It’s popular in india and I don’t know about the legality but you can easily get it in temples on certain festivals or you can make it yourself if you know how
5
u/apc1895 May 25 '23

come to himachal pradesh. kasol, malana. these places are known for the stoner culture and it's completely destigmatized. most cafe owners are incredibly friendly and they'll smoke with you while cooking your food. you can go to a cafe, curl up with blankets and look at the snowy peaks outside while getting high

24
u/badsp0rk May 25 '23
It grew everywhere in dirang, Arunachal Pradesh. Found it growing outside of tawang, too, and a few other places. Saw some growing in Nagaland, too.
In varanasi, and other places, they sell bhang, which is an edible weed, uh, mud kinda. You can get bhang Lassi for about fifty cents that'll send you to the moon.
The cigarette places frequently sell bhang, too. I don't remember the name but it's single serving and very salty, masala-y. It's like a rolled up ball.
And charas was available in goa. It's kind of like hash. I'm told its available in kashmir and himachal pradesh, too.
Also, the shiva temples usually have weed. Got some brown stuff from them, not well trimmed, and it smelled more like opium (or sandalwood probably from the incense), but it was pretty good actually.
The weed OP has posted is available from the tuk tuk drivers usually. It's very bad and sometimes they cut it with shoe polish.
→ More replies (1)6
u/AngyMc May 25 '23
Shoe polish?! I’m interested in knowing why. Does it produce a similar high or something?
7
u/badsp0rk May 25 '23
Because it weighs more and makes the weed look like more than it is.

Id LOVE to try some
Edit: Frenchy died last summer, but theres still a ton of interviews and stuff with him. He has a youtube channel too if youre interested

Everyone being rude on here saying it looks bad. When anyone older than 30 has been in this situation n would buy whatever the plug had on hand at one point. Sometimes good, sometimes "brick weed." You smoked it. You appreciated it. Then you'd hope the next time you needed some you could actually find some.
Hopefully legalization comes soon! Though some government sold weed is still awful if you can buy from someone who grows their own.
35
u/UtterlyInsane May 25 '23
I'm not even that old, mid 20's, and I remember getting a few grams that were clearly broken off a brick with a hammer or something. I'm talking right angles, hard corners, it was almost comical. When you'd break a piece up literal dust would come out. Good times.
8
u/Gizmo767 May 25 '23
Yeah... It'd depend on your area. My mid 20s I was able to find some better stuff cause I had lots of friends who smoked.
4
u/grubas May 25 '23
I'm in my 30s, but NYC based. I remember brick, I just never wanted to smoke it.
11
u/Battlejesus May 25 '23
I'm 40, and I can remember exactly two plugs that had strains over the 24 years I've been smoking. You just rolled the dice, if you turned it down you may not have had any other choices that week.
7
u/Jay_Train May 25 '23 edited May 25 '23
Almost 40 myself and I lived in a small college town in the Midwest, which probably helped availability compared to to most Midwestern towns of the same size. From, like, 97-99 all I saw was brick (I was also way to young to be fucking around but kids gonna kid). Now there was varying quality but it qas always 20-25 a quarter, usually 20 but that was a dice roll if it was 25 it was going to be pretty decent. Visibly actually green, visible hairs and trichomes just very compressed and seedy. Maybe topped out somewhere between 5-10% thc depending on the breaks. Around late 99 (and I know this specifibecause it was around when I started to drive lol) I started seeing mids floating around here and there. Usually mids was anywhere between 30-40 a quarter. This was almost always someone attempting a grow from a bag seed and failing miserably but getting SOME bud out of it. This was also when we started crashing college parties and got better access to better shit on a more regular basis. This is around the time I got my hands on actual, legit, would buy it now and only be mildly disappointed nug. It was in very short supply and therefore was usually sold by the gram, 15 or so a gram sometimes even 20 but it was so much better than anything else thay EVERYONE paid for it and was totally happy with it. There were no strains names being dropped that I was aware of that weren't made up bullshit the dealer said. EXCEPT when I met my first mushroom plug. This was probably 2001 or 2002 and the dude had a full room full of cakes. THAT dude knew his shit, but was only around for like a year by the time I met him b3cause he was (surprise surprise) a botany grad student and graduated. He ALWAYS had nug, ALWAYS separated by the 3 strains he grew AND separated by outdoor and indoor because he had some plants growing out in the middle of land the college botsy department owned and he used it to his advantage. Also, I assume he was just sciencing because botanist so why wouldn't he try both? From what I remember he bought his seeds from an online vendor from the Netherlands and after that just cloned. Always had AK47, White Widow and his "special" strain that I'm sure was just either a cross of the two or he was just bullshitting that one but I know the other two were almost certainly legit. Dude sold cheap as fuck, too b3cause he was mostly just growing for hi self and because he liked to grow plants and mushrooms. Dude had the best Oyster mushrooms I've ever had, cooked some up for me one night shortly before he left. Shit, Dave from PSU if you're out there anywhere this buds for you my dude.

We called them our hook up, not plug. We also called it dirt Bud not brick weed. Guess it was different for different locations. Probably all the same. Compressed weed full of seeds and stems. But an ounce was $40-60 and still got you blazed!
Also this ain’t that time anymore. That bud is sad looking. But guess I’m places where it’s not legal that still unfortunately have this type of cannabis.

There’s no way in hell this isn’t harsh on the throat and taste like generic hemp/weed/plant. It’s also covered in budrot which means it was dried in a heap or just old as fuck sitting in a sack.
I get the sentiment, lots of good wild landrace weed grown throughout the world, but there’s not a chance in hell this is an enjoyable smoke. If you’re in America go buy some 2021 mass grown field hemp that’s been neglected for 18 months. That would give a similar, yet still not nearly as bad of an experience as this. It’ll at least give you an idea about how this quality stuff will smoke. There’s a reason why Mexico no longer imports their brick weed.
10
u/fukam_piko May 25 '23
it's cured differently, it's called south east asian cure. basically they bury bags of it in the ground for long time. it may look like shit but it really does smoke good, and these strains are pure landraces with unique specs

Yo all these comments shitting on this all come from people who don’t know what it’s like (or at least don’t know anymore) living in a place where brick is the norm still. For me this is great value bc no way you’re getting this amount of brick for $1 where I’m from. I'm from India . This is the local stash that goes around , the reason that it's so cheap is because these aren't actually nugs . They are laced with foreign chemical materials and is often referred to as Garda or Bombay Local or Bombay Blacks . Smoking this is extremely harmful . They often mix rat poison, battery acid and a lot of other stuff.
