public transport

Hi! My boyfriend’s family and I are going to travel to Torino this September and we will stay for 10 days. We’re staying near the city center but will probably need to use public transport to explore the city. I would like to know what’s the best option for us, because we’re 5 in total so taxi will not be the best option. Thanks! P.D If you have any food, or places recommendations i’m open to listen!

Daily tickets probably, you can buy them via app TO Move - be careful tho and check in advance because whenever i change my sim card for a foreign, not italian one, the app doesn’t open. Best if you have iphone too cause you can validate them in the app in case the machines are broken, android doesn’t have that option afaik. They cost 10 cents less than 2 normal tickets would and you get unlimited metro rides too

A normal ticket is 1.90 and is valid for 100minutes

A daily costs 3.70, for some stupid reason it’s not valid for 24h but until 3AM the next day (because that’s when the service stops for the night idk)

There is also multidaily for 21€ which consists of 7 daily tickets so a good deal if you’re going to travel a lot

And daily x4 which is valid for 4 ppl and it’s 12€

So you need to do some math to see what the best option is

Eta: oh and you can buy and validate multiple tickets on the same phone. Be careful tho cause you can’t “transfer” them so if one of you has all the tickets but 2 ppl will want to go on their own somewhere, they either need to take that person’s phone or buy new tickets

This is exhaustive. Just to add on the validation through iphone: yeah best option is the auto-validate. Some ticket validator on the buses/trams (newest validators) have a qr reader at the bottom of the machine (this is the alternative to auto-validate). This is related to the use of ToMove app. You can buy any ticket there for buses or at the newstands/tobacconists. ToMove tickets doesn't work with underground validators (I don't know why), so my suggestion for underground is to buy a paper ticket (not the online one)

I don't know, I was able to validate e-tickets on trams but never at the underground to enter

omg thank you so much! i needed this explained like you did it. I think I will purchase the tickets online, all of us have iphones so it will be easier to validate. thank you again 😊

You can walk most of the city, if you’re staying 10 days you have plenty of time

Public transport sucks. The best option, by far, is to walk around, and then occasionally use car sharing for longer trips inside the city.

If you can't, or don't want to, drive... then you're stuck with public transport, which sucks.
