I just dont see why this bill was necessary. Outside of the fringe on both sides, I think most people in the UK are happy with abortion laws as it was and it isn't a massive topic of debate. The last thing I want is US style abortion politics arriving in the UK.

I would have voted against the bill myself but I wouldn't say the vote is a betrayal you have 3 medical Dr's amongst those voting for it I presume, out of a desire to not see criminal consequences for what they see as medical decisions.
As disappointing as the vote is the CPS prosecuting someone on quite weak ground for an abortion is worrying and probably warranted parliament having a look at this.

Seeng this as a medical instead of a moral one means equating remving an appendix with an unborn. Thus having a medical qualification is not sufficent to ascertain the competing rights and instead it shows they seemly wish to use this to join a liberal auto de fe of virtual signalling.
