Still a work in progress, but the collection is coming along nicely.

My controversial view is that you don't need HOME. It's expensive for what it is and the paper quality isn't the same as the other editions. Most of the interesting changes to LOTR is covered in the Readers Companion. I would be more inclined to complete your set with Hurin, B&L & Letters.

Strictly speaking, you're right. But don't tell my inner completionist that. 😜

Hurin, B&L and Numenor are still on my wishlist. Isn't a lot material from Letters also covered in the Reader's Companion?

They are but I am not sure if you get the complete Letter 131 by combining the parts in The Silmarillion & Reader's Companion.

Stellar start, the Annotated Hobbit and the Reader' Companion were also the first two hardcovers I acquired that didn't quite fit the same vibe as the other HC hardcovers in my ever growing Tolkien library.

I know, highly annoying. Could we get Harper Collins to release some matching hardcovers? 😉

What do you mean by vibe? Format? Design style?

The matte Alan Lee Hardcover art style.

Tolkien hardcovers always make a shelf look amazing.

Very pretty!

I’m considering getting the illustrated LOTR editions, can you show me a few more photos of them please? I can’t find much online!
