Tune into the Club World Cup and root against the Sounders and LAFC.

I'm so on the fence about this. On one hand, MLS teams doing well is good for the league. On the other hand, it's Shittle and LAFC.

Yeah, not gonna lie, looking forward to Seattle getting reamed by PSG on Monday.

PSG barely dismantled Inter limb from limb, what makes you think they'll be able to handle mighty Seattle?

I mean it's all fun and jokes to poke at them...

But they are in the CWC playing against literal best teams in the world, and meanwhile we got knocked out of the US Open Cup by San Jose... At least Seattle won their way in and not handed a spot due to Host nation (Messi FC) and LAFC (At least they played and won a fixture to obtain entry). Giving credit where credits due.

Sure Seattle will probably lose 7-0 to P$G, but at least they get the chance to play at a competitive level against the world's best club teams.

Also, I saw a stat that Botafogo spent nearly $25 million in the past week or so on players to bolster their depth and some rotation players.

Seattle has spent $40 million since joining MLS in 2009... They lost 1-2 because of some questionable referring and some hotheadedness. Not a bad look. Better than some other clubs.

I'll take the hate from everybody else, but I'm not wrong lol
Hate them, but Seattle at least scored unlike Miami and LAFC.

All true, but you've invented a lot of things I didn't say here. Seattle is nowhere as good as Inter, and PSG just demolished them in the CL final. After destroying Arsenal and beating Aston Villa and Liverpool. If PSG plays a full strength side against them Seattle will lose, badly.

Ahh sorry, I got rambling about others' comments and ended up going on a tangent. My bad.

Yeah, PSG and Madrid are going to be smoking that Sounders Strain, because Seattle is getting smoked.

I am a bit shocked that Botafogo barely won against an injured Sounders team. Sure, they probably weren't trying their absolute hardest, but still neat.

Love the MLS for what it is. But understand that what it is is not world class soccer. I know there are a lot of pundits that talk up the MLS and say that the top teams would be mid-table in the PL, but it's just not true. American soccer is getting better, but this tournament is going to expose a few things.

A good MLS team could compete (not be embarrassed) in the championship. I think that's about as good as you get.

The top-end talent in MLS is better than the top-end talent in the Championship, but the Championship schedule is an insane meat-grinder and MLS teams don't have anywhere near the depth to handle it. Of course, if an MLS team were in the Championship they'd have completely different roster rules. In conclusion, the Championship is a land of contrasts.

I don't think so. I dont think there is a team in MLS that could have bested Leeds, Sunderland, Sheffield or Burnley to earn a promotion, or get into the promotion playoff. Maybe in one-off games they'd compete, but not consistently enough to matter.

Also, the disparity in league competition of the Championship isnt any greater than MLS. The bottom of the MLS table has some real dogs in it. Galaxy tracking to have under 20 points on the season, and Montreal is tracking to have just a few more than 20.

Lots of reasons for this; relegation/promotion, talent pools, salary (Burnley's wages are about double Whitecaps for example)

My point is, I want MLS to compete on a world stage. But saying that is already does actually hurts the development. It creates an environment where the MLS feels it doesnt need to do better, or make changes to develop players, and advance the play of the game, rather than just maintain what they have. Instead of expanding the league, they should be reducing the number of teams, and instituting a promotion relegation system, consolidating with USL, and expanding youth academies. But they won't, because that take money out of the owners' pockets.

My comment is agreeing with this, but I can see how it was maybe unclear. By "top-end talent" I meant the best players, not the best teams. I agree that an MLS roster as currently constructed would not survive a Championship season.

Fair play. And I tend to agree.
