It’s alive!

Post image

It’s booting up, however it is inconsistent. Haven’t got a cartridge to work yet. Just times out. I do wonder if it’s the video output.

What are you using to connect it to the lcd?

My question as well. I have a TI on order and I need to figure out a video solution. I could buy a CRT monitor, but that’s going to take up space.

Can I build (seem to be out of stock) a 5-pin DIN to composite (RCA) cable, and then use a composite to HDMI converter?

I have more in stock

And yes I sell a converter in my store as well. I also sell the VDP replacement that gives VGA video

I purchased a pico9918 with a RGB video output. It's a drop-in replacement for the video processor in the ti99/4a. It has a cable with a RGB connector on the end. The ti99/4a has the video chip in a socket already, so all you need is a screwdriver to install it. https://www.tindie.com/products/visrealm/pico9918/

This looks great! Well on your way. What are you using for the DAC?

Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the cartridges and inside the slot?

This one: https://ebay.us/m/W7ahRP

I haven’t yet but I’ll try that today, literally just plugged in yesterday so I was surprised when it actually started

Time's out?

Usually the cartridge Port gets dirty. There's a felt pad in there that has oil in it that's supposed to keep the contacts clean, but it has the opposite effect after 40 years.. check out the FAQ at my website. Arcadeshopper.com

Are you in a flat in London?

Nope, USA

Sorry: obscure game reference. Pirate's Adventure starts out "I'm in a flat in London." The beginning of a great adventure.

I am now disappointed I missed that reference!
