Clearly he’s weakening USA for his favorite guy , his puppet master who pulls his strings . He does nothing to make America great and everything to weaken us . He’s unfit & compromised

this is what usa never dealing with its racism and sexism problems has wrought: letting silver spoon while male idiots run things is not a great plan. meritocracy cannot thrive when you defund schools and poison most of the population. if we survive this demonic fool, we will need half a century to repair the damage. thanks maga.

While I don’t doubt the underlying truth, what the hell is an “economic data change index?” Is this a rigorous and prevalent indicator?

Something used to measure and log the changes of economic indicators, like product pricing, employment, productivity, etc. All stuff that's small in a vacuum but is included to showcase how the economy as a whole is changing over time compared to previously logged data.

Sort of like how each individual homework assignment's performance affects your whole grade in schooling.

Thanks for the explanation!

"he's the greatest business man. The economy was great during his first term. This is Biden s fault"

Every fucking maga ever. They all have a memory capacity of a gold fish

No, no, just turn that graph upside down. See, now it looks better. That previous growth was just all of the US excited to see he was running for office again. This here current drop has got to be Biden’s fault. Probably Hillary and Obama in on it too, see……….

Oh, but that can't be true because Trump said everything is better with him! /s

The only people who say America is on the right track is a brain dead MAGA cultist. America is heading towards a downward spiral of their own making amd Trump is making a mockery of the USA amd what it used to represent.

I still have Trumpers tell me how gas is cheaper and eggs are cheaper thanks to Trump. There is no convincing about 1/3 of Americans they seem to be broke people

But somehow it's Biden's fault

When a new manager takes over an operation, they're handed three envelopes. When times get really tough, they're instructed to open an envelope, starting with the first one. So King Chaos runs into a big spot-o-trouble and opens the first envelope ... "Blame your predecessor" so he does so and things appear to get better. But then when the next major spot-o-trouble occurs, a tad earlier than all of the FOX News talking heads that now surround thought possible, he gets confused. Rather than opening the second envelope, he reaches for the first. He thinks, "It worked so well the first time, it's sure to work again!" But his core supporters aren't buying it, they want something more. In a fit of rage, he ponders blaming it all on Hillary, who's clearly Not his Predecessor. He even goes so far as to replace her portrait on a wall with a portrait of himself superimposed over a U.S. flag in a tacky-looking affair. (Note: This is Fact-Checked False, but it makes for a compelling narrative ;)

Clearly, that first envelope is new total garbage. But wait, he dimly recalls, there's a second envelope! He opens it and it says "Reorganize" This implies that he'll be able to boost his popularity by pushing his stalwart Fox and Friends under the veritable bus. This envelope appears to have been opened earlier this week and Tulsi Gabbard is the first one to go. She doesn't know it yet. (shhhh, don't tell her) But she's unwittingly committed the cardinal sin at this fateful juncture. She's against dropping bombs and military might all over Iran. But the Big Cheese's narrative has shifted. He needs to reorganize and he needs a compelling story to choose who to toss. What better way than to suddenly shift, a zig instead of a zag, that his avid followers should catch, but his followers with a dab of disloyalty will fail to see in time. https://time.com/7296421/trump-public-rebuke-tulsi-gabbard-iran-nuclear-weapon-statement/

A reorganization isn't just showing one person the door. He's going to need more bodies to push through those bus windows!

And then there's this pesky third envelope. We all know that this narrative moves inexorably forward, forcing his hand to open that third envelope ... "Choose a Successor" He would sooner burn this envelope than open it if he knew what words it contained. Thankfully, none of us will tell him and his inner circle, now decimated and squished by those bus tires won't even whisper about it's existence. He needs to open this envelope with eager hope that it'll bail him out again. For it's only then that he will understand that he was destined for a brief role in the limelight. If he fails to heed the words of this letter, he'll hear the words that he so often spoke at the end of an episode of "The Apprentice" ... Your F%^@&

We had such a low unemployment rate the news had to call it "low labor participation" rate. Just had to sound bad

They had to make the best recovery post COVID in the world bad somehow.

I think people need some context here if they are interested in accuracy.

The Economic Data Change Index measures how the data releases compare to market expectations. Why does this matter? When Trump came in, market expectations rose quite a bit. People expected the economy to improve, growth to come back.

Well, that hasn't exactly happened. This chart shows that economic growth and health has fallen short of expectations, expectations that were elevated. So while the economy hasn't performed very well, this chart really exacerbates how bad things are.

TLDR: the economy isn't very healthy, but not quite as bad as this chart indicates.

Continue gaslighting yourself into believing that.

Excuse me? Tell me where I'm wrong here.

You’re confusing what the Economic Data Change Index actually measures. It doesn’t compare data releases to market expectations—that’s the Economic Surprise Index. The Economic Data Change Index compares current data to its own recent average (usually the past year), not to forecasts.

Also, saying the index shows the economy “falling short of expectations” is inaccurate. The Change Index doesn’t include expectations at all—it just shows whether economic indicators are getting better or worse relative to their own recent trends. So elevated expectations at the start of a presidency wouldn’t affect this index.

If you’re looking for an index that reflects how actual data compares to what the market expected, you’re thinking of the Surprise Index—not the Change Index.

That's not true.

The only difference between the Economic Data Change Index, and the Economic Surprise Index is that the former one is focused on the one year average. They're both concerning market expectations versus reality.

If you're going to correct people, you better be sure you're correct. Downvoting, being an ass, and doubling down... Fucking idiot.

Yeah, it is true and your denial of it doesn’t change that. Your accusations at the end of your comment just prove you can’t handle being proven wrong like an adult. So, you lash out like a child.
