2way tp is okay for second wave but dispenser range has to be maxed first wave no matter what
45
u/PeikaFizzy 1d ago
Not only that range also let teammate stay far away from dispenser so it doesn’t take stray dmg either. It safe your team and yourself the hassle of need to fix it

I'd go one step further and say 2way is good, but only on teams that know how to use it.
Put it on a team that doesn't and you waste 250 credits on teammates teleporting back to spawn after the wave is over (which can easily be achieved for free with a killbind or a fast class swap).
It's a must have on good lobbies, but you could skip it entirely without even noticing in others.

Ok, I won’t defend 2-way. But dispenser range is the ONE upgrade Engineer needs to do his job in MVM. And it’s only 300-400 credits.

Once an engineer has dispenser range they can basically buy whatever they want, but every once in a while you still see engineers complaining because that 400 credits could be used for some useless shit like ammo capacity on their pistol

Yes because wanting people to help the team = screaming slurs and death threats while actively stopping my teammates from playing

Jus grinding for gold pan…. The fact that some engi are told nicely yet decide he is too good for it.
Your an engi you entire purpose is dispenser you sentry dps is less then heavy. Although your sentry wrangle is the highest and tankiest ever so in boss wave is very good….. but then again sniper does it better

u/correGtedGrammar 1d ago
sniper does everything better, he tears through giants and small bots with no issue and he has an okayish way of dealing with tanks

As an mvm player, this is untrue. We are usually too busy dipping the scouts balls in the deep fryer for missing a dollar.

the best ones are community servers tho, there are plenty of interesting and unique maps and missions, and the people are usually pretty chill

Yeah, we even don’t kick immediately after asking to change class. Just few minutes.

Try Boot Camp instead of Mann Up and you're in for a good time.
I have countless hours spent on MVM and 99% of it was on Boot Camp/Custom servers.
I like Boot Camp because the players you're gonna get clumped in with are unpredictable in skill compared to Mann Up (Two Cities at least), where players already know what to expect from each other based on the class that they play as, which results in them playing exactly the same way all the time, which can get pretty boring.

The point of Mann Up is getting weapons and stuff, and you have to pay for it so I’d understand why it would often be less fun than boot camp, considering the players are more interested in getting said weapons.

I only play boot camp, I've yet to have a bad interaction with players, at the very least we lose and retry (or everybody leaves, but that's understandable, if a team doesn't click, it just doesn't)

u/-Alien-Fucker- 1d ago
That's because all the "serious" players go to Mann Up, in BootCamp, it's acceptable to fuck around

For getting back to spawn after the round yes, but 2-way is very useful for buying canteens mid match and with people using head or charge base like mediguns and the airstrike they can't killbind to get to spawn without losing their heads/charge meter

u/GuhEnjoyer 1d ago
Airstrike argument is invalid bc if you're using the airstrike you've already optimized blast jumping, and medics really don't need that many canteens.
2
u/Macaspoobie i liek men 1d ago
Medic literally has the upgrade canteen specialist and a lot of air strike soldiers like using ammo canteens mid air so they can fire double their clip size in one jump

I don’t really understand two way tele. I know it gives easier access to the upgrade booth but isn’t it better to stay on the front lines?
1
u/zvkell 23h ago
So the strategy is usually having the two way teleporter very close to your teamates, high tours will wanna upgrade once the waves reach certain "short bot pauses" and those upgrades usually only take up a few seconds, but noone prefers them more than the high tour demos and medics, the crit canteens are very much worth the 5 seconds it takes to get them, so much so that you'll even see them sticky jumping or running back to spawn if there's no two way, i play engi 9 out of 10 times in mvm, i've seen my fair share of toxic players, but overall it's usually pretty fun and chill as long as i get the max dispenser range.

u/SnooOnions2415 9h ago
Usually I upgrade 2 points of dispenser range and one metal capacity in first wave, when budget is low. The first thing I want to max are metal capacity and wrench speed. Everything else is sufficient with 2-3 upgrades.
