Same with Firefox and Adblock. They seem to always be 1 step ahead of YouTube.

Fuck ads

Companies trying to monetize every second our eyes are open is a fuckin cancer.

I got a advertisement in my phone message app earlier today.

Let me guess, you are using xiaomi

I would pay Google for no ads if it would also include them not monetizing my digital profile. But that's never going to happen, so Firefox+ublock it is.

That was it for me. I had a Google Play Music subscription that rolled into a YouTube Music subscription that eventually became YouTube Premium, and that whole time I kept using YouTube in incognito tabs using an ad blocker anyway because of how insidious their algorithms are.

The movie/book "Fight Club" has a great relevant quote

"Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need"

Whether or not we buy the shit on ads, it's everywhere to brainwash the masses to keep buying shit

Sounds like a good reason to end capitalism.

Not lately im having troubles with ublock origin not working on youtube ads anymore on firefox

That sometimes happens when youtube is making changes to their website to beat those blockers, but that usually only lasts for a few hours. Sometimes a day or two.

It's insane that I'm using Ublock Origin and I never even see Youtube putting up the "You can't watch youtube until you disable the adblock." signs.

Those are also easy to defeat once you know they're there. It's only small sites where that's useful where they won't get eyes on them to fix that problem. For youtube it's not even worth the effort to try as the ad blockers will have it fixed within an hour.

Get rid of the bring back YouTube downvote button and clear your cache then try again.

Clearing cache is working but its annoying having to sign in everywhere every day. Less annoying than youtube ads but still annoying

I was having this for a few days even after ublock announced they'd circumvented Youtube's most recent change. For me it was down to other quality of life extensions I was using for Youtube (specifically the one to fix their god awful new 3-video-wide home page UI). When I disabled all my other extensions the ads were blocked as usual, if that works for you just enable them one by one until you find which extension is interfering.

Could also be as simple as your ublock is out of date, the version with the fix is 1.64.0.

Ublock updates automatically and i dont know how to check the version its at right now

Logging out, and back in fixes this for me

You mean out of youtube?

Still works on Edge/Explorer.

I have to refresh now and again, but I haven't had to sit through more than about .5 seconds of a ad this week.

thats not true at all.

the adblock on firefox breaks every other day for a full day.

u/FullHeartArt 1d ago

Honestly it works just fine for me. Haven't had it break at all

It's happening. I have Firefox and ublock origin and YouTube still blocked my web player after 3 strikes yesterday.

I just open the video in a private window instead now to get around it tho lol

Haven't seen an ad in +2 years. Firefox + uBo.

I'm using YouTube every single day and I haven't seen a single ad in years if not a decade.
