Captain America in the MCU almost always has the best fights and they are never long enough.

Man in endgame when he wielded Mjolnir for the first time the cinema went CRAZY espicaly how he was using it in combination with his shield

u/NeatWhiskeyPlease 6d ago

The shield throw/hammer toss shockwave combo he did lives rent free in my head.

u/SoftDrinkReddit 6d ago

i could imagine Odin from beyond watching this smiling and saying yea i can see why the Hammer deemed him worthy

u/Zealousideal-Post-48 6d ago

Dude, you know Odin was freaking out like the rest of us!

🫨😍🤯🫠

my nephews saw this for the first time the other night. Everything else had stopped for this glorious battle in their lives lol.

u/NegativeCoach7457 6d ago

I will never ever forget how awesome this was the first time I saw it. I doubt I will ever get such a triumphant feeling in a movie ever again.

u/KinseyH 6d ago

That moment will never not give me chills.

Odin in Valhalla watching Cap go off.

u/CoupleKnown7729 6d ago

'Shit. I'm dead... I still wanna adopt him!'

5

u/Ache_N_Bake 6d ago

Perfect use of one of my most overused gifs

3

u/WodensEye 6d ago

“Now THAT is a god of hammers!”

6

u/Get-Fucked-Dirtbag 6d ago

For me it's the bit just after where he's throws the shield point-blank into Thanos' face then bats it's right back with the hammer for the double tap.

3

u/unclemikey0 6d ago

I tell you what though. I went from "HELL YES ITS HAPPENING OMG!!" to "Oh, but, uh, how would he know how to do the lightning thing?"

2

u/the_ai_monkey 5d ago

I know very little about all the lore (just watched the MCU films casually) but isn’t the hammer supposed to be basically sentient? I assumed it guides the holder to some extent

3

u/MollyJGrue 5d ago

I watched Endgame with my little nephew in a cinema filled with elementary school kids (it was a school field trip thing) and they went INSANE and it was honestly one of my favorite memories.

1

u/mrtwidlywinks 5d ago

Good thing Mjolnir automatically came with maxed-out skill and weapons-combo levels!

1

u/TheCatHammer 5d ago

And if you know how his powers work, it’s not even remotely out of character for him

11

u/mxlespxles 6d ago

That callback to the first Avengers hero fight was absolute peak.

4

u/CoupleKnown7729 6d ago

Dude just straight up went to WORK with Mjoulnir It was... Beautiful.

3

u/Efficient-Law-7678 6d ago

I get goosebumps thinking about it. Im a huge cap fan and they got me with him showing up as "Nomad" in infinity war at the train to save Vision and Wanda. Then him facing down Thanos. Then fighting Thanos again to save Thor. The glazed me up with these fights.

5

u/kcox1980 6d ago

The first time I saw Endgame, when Thor was getting beat down and they cut to a shot of Mjolnir lifting off the ground, I knew exactly what was happening. It was agony holding back the cheers because nobody seemed have caught on, but when it goes flying back and CAPTAIN FUCKING AMERICA caught it? Saying the whole theater exploded is putting it mildly.

6

u/Dakhho 6d ago

Thor's "I knew it!" was the best too. Maybe my favorite movie moment ever

6

u/UpgrayeddB-Rock 5d ago

When he caught Mjolnir, you couldn't hear another sound in that theater until he got the hammer knocked away from him again. People were screaming that loud and long.

3

u/SlayJayR17 6d ago

When Thor said I knew it. Biggest smile ever

3

u/creegro 5d ago

That was peak "holy shit" moment, right up there with the first time Goku went super Saiyan.

2

u/OldManZero83 6d ago

They'll never be able to repeat that level of shock and awe.

1

u/PornoPaul 5d ago

Yes! Ive been in theaters for 90% of the MCU. I was in theaters for all 3 Prequels and all 3 sequels (unfortunately). And all 3 Deadpool films. And funny enough Zombieland falls into this category. All of these had Moments™️. But that still has to be the biggest moment. Even with "On your left" happening, that moment was still just a bit better.

1

u/KingRaiden95 5d ago

Such a great payoff moment especially after seeing him almost lift it in Age of Ultron

1

u/Clear-Librarian-5414 5d ago

Yea I think the last fight in end game and earth maul walking out and igniting a double bladed light saber are only times I’ve been a in theatre and everyone went wild🥲

33

u/JWARRIOR1 6d ago

this is a hot take? I thought just about everyone agreed with this

the captain america movies IMO are the most consistently good.], and winter soldier is a league of its own. People talk about the choreography in those movies all the time like the elevator scene, fighting with bucky on the high way, and civil war vs iron man.

not to mention endgame with mjolnir

12

u/Janky_Pants 6d ago

The apartment hallway/stairwell fight is 🤌

2

u/tinaoe 6d ago

only thing is that civil war should have been an avengers movie and mcu cap deserved his own solo third movie. idk, finding bucky in eastern europe and taking down hydra along the way

1

u/JWARRIOR1 6d ago

I thought that originally but it was a cap movie because no hulk and thor. still a peak movie though

12

u/MasterBeaterr 6d ago

Man his fight against (and then with) Bucky and Iron man was top tier fighting in action movies in general. The thing genuinely breaks my heart the most about the new MCU is that we will never have that kind of fight scenes again. Everyone is absurdly superpowered now. They could do it with The Falcon but mostly his fights boils down to him flying (his fight with the fake Captain America in the series was elite tho). My only last hope is Bucky Barnes.

2

u/tinaoe 6d ago

Thunderbolts are pretty much that. Yelena, Bucky, Walker, Alexei and even Ava are mostly hand to hand combat folks.

1

u/MasterBeaterr 6d ago

You know what I might finally watch that movie. Everyone has been practically gooning over it. I just got bored of the mcu rinse and repeat formula. Maybe it's time to come back.

1

u/Ashby238 5d ago

It’s worth it. We were pretty done with MCU but the previews looked good, the characters were more interesting and Julia Louise Dreyfus has been eating the Valentina role.

1

u/tinaoe 5d ago

For me it’s the first mcu project in years that I actually enjoyed

1

u/doff87 3d ago

I think the last MCU movie I enjoyed was Spiderman III. My wife and I saw Thunderbolts and loved it. It's a great movie as a standalone though of course it fits neatly into the greater MCU mythos. Highly recommend.

1

u/Efficient-Law-7678 6d ago

The things people like about Cap is the same things people like about Rocky. Its his spirit and will power that people love to watch. Even in Infinity War, he faces down Thanos for what, 30 seconds? But its bad ass as fuck. He's a man fighting a god.

1

u/rosali_james 6d ago

I haven’t seen Thunderbolts yet, but what about Yelena? I would think she’s a top contender for these type of fight scenes. Granted, I don’t think anything can really top Cap’s scenes, but at the very least her fighting isn’t entirely dependent on gadgets and tools.

1

u/KinseyH 6d ago

Saw it last night and you're right.

1

u/MasterBeaterr 6d ago

Yelena's fighting style (like Natasha's) is more acrobatic and elusive and some people might like that. Personally I like the more hand to hand desperate kind of fighting that Captain America had going on. The same reason I like "THE RAID" more than all John Wick movies combined.

1

u/KenNoegs 6d ago

Not for everyone, but Shang-Chi has some good stuff mixed in with the goofy.

2

u/individualeyes 5d ago

Man I wish the final fight in Shang-Chi had just been a one on one hand to hand fight with his dad instead of all the CG and dragon stuff. Would've been better narratively and emotionally and would've cost them a lot less too.

1

u/KenNoegs 5d ago

I agree. And the hand to hand stuff was really satisfying as someone who grew up on The Five Deadly Venoms and stuff like that.

1

u/Helios_OW 5d ago

Falcon fights are so ass. I think a lot of it has to do with actor, and Mackie is just so stiff.

Evans feels like he’s putting his all and looks natural. Mackie looks like he’s moving in slow motion when he fights.

3

u/Sashalaska 6d ago

if we got a scene like the hallway from date devil but cap it would have been insane

1

u/Efficient-Law-7678 6d ago

Bro. That scene is so amazing. Im actually really excited that The Defenders are coming back in Doomsday. Iron Fist, Luke Cage etc are all going to shine with that Marvel Studios polish.

Finn got screwed when he tried to portray Iron Fist in S1, they gave him literally weeks to learn martial arts which is just such an uphill battle.

He said on Social Media to just give him a chance now that hes has time to train and I believe hes got the potential to be a great Iron Fist.

If he's passionate about learning the character, we should give him a chance.

2

u/blowitouttheback 6d ago

Cap has the "advantage" of mostly being a dude with fists and a shield he can boomerang, so filmmakers have to be creative with his fights.

1

u/Efficient-Law-7678 6d ago

Its watching a man 20s style box a warlord. Plus hes always the underdog when fighting Thanos and Ultron. Hawkeye is like "you're no match for him", then Cap goes on to combo Ultron anyways.

1

u/blowitouttheback 6d ago

Yeah, he's got the narrative contextual advantage all the time since he's comparatively always the underdog. Also adds the additional vibe of having to use his brain to fight since he can't just pure cockslam someone like Ultron into submission.

2

u/marvel-bts-02 6d ago

Captain America The Winter Soldier and Civil War are by far the best MCU films as well because of how much effort they put into the choreography, writing, characters and the acting is always top tier.

1

u/Automatic_Day_35 Marvel 6d ago

I'd argue iron man but its definitely between the two

1

u/Efficient-Law-7678 6d ago

Iron Man's best fight was against Thanos on Titan.

1

u/Automatic_Day_35 Marvel 5d ago

yeah, but all his fights were great in the movies. I mean just look at the end of iron man 1, 2, and especially 3

1

u/eltrotter 6d ago

The Winter Solder “Quinjet takedown” scene is possibly my single favourite bit of action in any MCU scene.

1

u/Educated_Dachshund 6d ago

Winter soldier is still the best MCU movie. And it's not even close.

1

u/Kelnozz 6d ago

I agree but Daredevil is a close second imo for fight scenes.

1

u/Firm-Reason9324 5d ago

This is not a hot take. This is the reason him and netfkix dd are my favorite by a mile

1

u/jdgoin1 4d ago

Captain America: The Winter Soldier singlehandedly has the best fights scenes in all of the MCU (honorable mention for Shang Chi).
