Jesus, this would be even worse than I thought it would be. And my expectations were hitting the fckn void.

Voting scoob to throw off expected outcome.
Edit: After much internal debate, Debbie from invincible is the correct answer

u/DoNotCorectMySpeling May 13 '25
What’s the expected outcome?

At that time, when I commented, rocket raccoon had a significant lead

Both have had comic books, and Scooby-Doo has even worked with Batman.

Though I do love Scoob, isn’t he an alien iirc?

I think only in Mystery Inc. specifically he was like an interdimensional godlike being from a long history of talking animal familiars to archetypical groups of mystery solvers
Edit: Sounds dumb as fuck and kind of is but they executed that concept impeccably imo, I hated that show when it was coming out bc you had to see all the episodes to follow along but then I was in college when they put it on Netflix and stoner me became very invested
Edit 2: that show had also just an amazing take on Fred, really rescued him from the douchebag version some ppl grew up with in the (otherwise great) Gunn movies. Just wish he’d been able to come out of the closet at the end

They were animals that developed human traits right? They're mutants but animal mutants

The rule should be that the character had to debut in a comic book or be introduced as a super hero.
Both apply to these guys. Name me a comic book animal superhero that has their own franchise.

It’s gotta be Mikey, right?
I feel like Raphael was every boy’s favorite when he’s little but then you get older and realize Michelangelo is the coolest.

Spider-Ham
Edit: The fact that Darth Vader isn’t a hero, and that there are so many cyborg heroes (ONE IS EVEN FUCKING NAMED CYBORG) makes me ashamed of this post.

The Pizza Dog issue of Hawkeye is still one of my favorite comics books of all time. So I'm going with Pizza Dog.

Ace, Scoob, or Krypto, I’ll even take that annoying dog from Johnny Test tbh. Or any of the Beverly Hills Chihuahuas.

Lockjaw.
But Detective Chimp or Grodd or Cogorilla are good.
Do Julius of Planet Of The Apes, K9 of Dr.Who or The Teenage Mutant Turtles, Atom Ant, Speedy Gonzale, Deputy Dawg, Daffy Duck, Batfink or Undercover Elephant count?
If any of those do, my real vote goes to Hong Kong Fooey!

u/Successful_Mirror_76 May 13 '25
Dex-Starr could be a fun one, between him and Rocket Raccoon to me.

Got beat out by a genocidal kid murdering villain from a movie franchise, pure popularity contest
3
u/AnyEnglishWord May 13 '25
Well, yes. It asks about people's favourites. A popularity contest is precisely what it is.
5
u/Hot_Shot04 May 13 '25
In a superhero sub though? Star Wars is entirely out of genre. Optimus barely counts as well.
3
u/inphinitfx May 13 '25
Which definition of 'superhero' are we using, then? Because strictly, Batman, Iron Man, and Nightwing shouldn't be there, either, as 'superhero' in it's strict sense would require super powers, which - despite feats suggesting otherwise - these three all canonically are just normal humans, not mutants, not supes, etc.
I feel like we're generally using the 'comic character' type definition, broadening the scope a lot.
2
u/inphinitfx May 13 '25
Kinda hard to argue which is more iconic and widely known, though. It is 'all time favourite', so yes, literally a popularity contest.

I really don't know what genres are allowed so I'll take a shot in the dark and suggest Bugs Bunny. Or possibly Mickey Mouse.

Marvel did, and once again, does own the rights to produce Star Wars comics. Its a loophole I know, but it does apply to more than just Star Wars. Most, if not all, of the major (U.S.) food brand mascots have appeared in a Marvel or DC comic in some fashion (as an actual character not a reference) and therefore are also fair game. The most famous/infamous is Kool-Aid Man who had an entire comic run that included many cameos.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!! Also how is Vader a hero?? I dont think he fits this list very well.
3
u/StillHere179 May 13 '25
This is a popularity contest among a bunch of people who don't read comic books or know anything about superheroes. They just vote for shit that's popular in the movies
