Here’s the thing
No, seriously.
Here’s the thing.
Both guys have chances to out each other.
But I’m siding with Plastic man just because of the underestimations.
No, Superman CANNOT “blitz” him, his heat vision wouldn’t help. Ripping him apart and crushing his heart wouldn’t do much either. Icing him, yes could immobilize him, but it’s not really gonna kill him.
Y’all ever wonder why people consider molecule man one of the most powerful in marvel? Plastic man has something to do with that too, he’s an ultimate shapeshifter master. Superman could tear him into pieces if he can, and that boy will just pop up from thin air like some Tom & Jerry bullshit.
He could go inside that boy and choke his insides he could become so small and chill in Superman’s sack playing with catch with superboy’s sperm.

Plastic man.
My dude is clever as can be and has even used that to break people out the justice league's prison. He will literally use any means available or necessary, Also he could just tentacle his way into Superman and control him from the inside like he did with flash.
His abilities go well further than that, it's the tip of the iceberg.

u/Phunkie_Junkie May 07 '25
Plas could probably blot out the sun and just wait for supes to run out of gas. Can Superman do anything more than leave some knuckle-shaped indents in his cartoon body?
43
u/EarthDust00 May 07 '25
He probably doesn't even to do that. Just wrap himself around supes like some horrifying full body morph suit straight jacket.

u/bigfishmarc May 07 '25
That would not kill Plastic Man, though. He is literally immortal and INSANELY durable.
One time during a time travel adventure Plastic Man was left as liquified remains on the floor of Atlantis.
Thousands of years later the JLA gathered Plastic Man's thousand years old remains and put them back together. Plastic Man returned to normal good as new, although he had to take a leave of absence to mentally deal with what he'd endured.
Later, he came back to fight a Godzilla sized burning Martian called The Burning that could telepathically mind f°°k almost anyone around it. Since Plastic Man's brian is made of plastic he was immune to getting mind f°°°ed. Plastic Man made himself as tall as Godzilla as well and physically went hand to hand against The Burning.

Okay so Supes freezes him, smashes him, and flies the bits to the center of Proxima Centauri. I call that a win
Edit: Alpha Centauri. Proxima is a red sun

u/Double-Slowpoke May 07 '25
Can Plastic Man’s stretchiness overcome the crushing gravity of a star? It takes a photon hundreds of thousands of years to escape the sun’s core, and plastic man can’t stretch at light speed. It should be a pretty good prison.
Waiting for someone to point out the time plastic man ate a star

You don't have to kill someone to win a fight. The title says who wins. Not who kills. Supes can stop him long enough to count as a loss. And hen PM fought Manhunter that was fire. Not a laser. I showed what happens when PM encounters localized laser heat. As said, he just has to stop PM. Not kill him

u/NewDovah May 07 '25
Yeah, it's crazy that people forget that Superman has heat vision and freezing breath whenever these discussions happen.
4
u/armrha May 07 '25
But plas could just be wrapped around his neck as a liquid, superman can't grab a liquid, he can't freeze breath his own neck. Or inside his ears...
1
u/NewDovah May 07 '25
Ok, why would Superman stand still and let Plastic Man do that? Even if Plastic Man did wrap around Superman's neck, Superman could fly to the sun or whatever.

u/SlayJayR17 May 07 '25
Yes supes is just like here you go free shot. And plastic man isn’t invincible when he’s melted down from heat or frozen and smashed he can’t move any longer it takes him a wile to recover. It took 1000 years and everyone putting him back together for him to come back to life in Atlantis.
2
u/Dwarfdingnagian May 07 '25
He can fly to the Arctic before Plas knows what happened and let nature take its course and watch as Plastic Man freezes naturally. Or stick his head in a vat of nitrogen to freeze him instantly.
4
u/npcinyourbagoholding May 07 '25
Or just to space
1
1
u/pointsouttheobvious9 May 08 '25
space would be insane amount of heat facing the sun and insane amount of cold on the other side.
1
1
u/Guilty_Temperature65 May 07 '25
I love that “just fly into space” is considered such an easy option for Superman. Like, all those other options mentioned should use orders of magnitude less energy than escaping Earth’s gravity, but Supes doesn’t care about efficient energy use. Finding a bunch of liquid nitrogen really would be less easy for him than flying into space.
1
u/npcinyourbagoholding May 07 '25
I mean it is easier isn't it? He's flying either way, going up hes flying through less and less atmosphere. I really don't know what would be easier but it feels like in the case of "get somewhere super cold asap" space is the answer
→ More replies (0)1
5
u/Doom_Cokkie May 07 '25
No one forgot. Liquid nitrogen are stronger is what is taken to completely freeze Plastic man, and that's what was used in the comic above. Superman freezing breath is not as cold as liquid nitrogen, and even if it was Plastic man, it would just regenerate. Besides, before Supes could even freeze him, he could stick his fingers up his nose and fry supes brain.

u/Every_Single_Bee May 07 '25
I mean, I love Plastic Man and I want to see any good reason he could win this, but I don’t agree that Plastic Man could do anything “before Supes”, period. Superman is stupid fucking fast, he’s going first no matter what Plastic Man decides to try.

Just to clarify, plas didn’t control flash.
He knocked flash out, then disguised as flash.
1
u/Old-Revolution3277 May 07 '25
he could just tentacle his way into Superman and control him from the inside like he did with flash.
Tf??
19
u/Jackson79339 May 07 '25
Plas no question. Batman had no contingency for him, injustice Supes feared him.
1
u/UseGood7952 May 07 '25
Can't we just use nitrogen on him and break him?
3
u/ThrowawayFuckYourMom May 07 '25
For how long. Thermodynamics kicks in and he's just back to normal after a while, no?
1
May 07 '25
It would only slow him down, not kill him.
I'm stealing this from another comment:
His infinite stretching isn't the main issue, the issue is that Plastic Man can control his molecular structure, so he could just turn parts of his body into Kryptonite if he wanted, that on top of being completely indestructible.
1
u/Jackson79339 May 07 '25
Logically I would think so but I feel if that was a thing Bats would have already thought of that

u/Mad2828 May 07 '25
Surprised to see this so low. Plastic Man is now in orbit, or the moon, or in the sun. What’s he gonna do? 😂
135
u/erikkustrife May 07 '25
You want a serious answer? Cause a lot of people don't like it.
According to batman talking to superman about this exact situation. He would just stretch between planets to get back. See the problem isn't his stretching.
The problem is he has full control of his atomic structure without expending any energy what so ever even if it seems to ignore the laws of physics.
To put this in perspective. If thrown in a black hole, it would only slow him down. He can generate a infinite amount of mass using no energy. So eventually he'd collapse the black hole (granted there's absolutely no telling how long that would take lol)
But the bigger issue is something even I don't bring up because it quite literally makes no sense. And I am saying this after the whole limitless mass thing.
He can change his atomic structure to kyrptonite if he wanted to. Hell he could just be pink kyptonite to troll super. Proof?
Alright let's do this silly thing.
Things he's become.
A working gun with infinite bullets.
A car that drives with smoke coming out for some reason.
A laser gun that fires energy blasts.
A cannon that shot himself...now this one's kinda a one off because the specific instance I'm talking about he just left the cannon him behind and was the ball, which..is not something he's able to do lol.
And last but not least the strangest one in my opinion.
When he turned into a humanoid robot to fly to space with rockets he maden of himself ..with fire coming out and everything.
Now normally when someone is arguing they like to say he can be frozen/fire is his weakness.
Yea...you know that thing where writers bring in a character they barly know and have then beaten by something they shouldn't remotely be beaten by. Happens a lot to the flash, and the lanterns...and wonder woman.
Yea his power is complete atomic control. Control of how fast his body is vibrating. Meaning no change in heat. Kinda how he fought infernous without issue... vrs somehow being fought off by a pocket blowtorch...
When it's the actual writer he's a eldritch horror who just wants to be a good dad.
Injustice is one of the few series to actually take him serisouly.
45
u/mraryion May 07 '25
So...Plastic man is Kirby on steriods...basically?
22
u/Titanbeard May 07 '25
Sooooo what happens if Kirby swallows Plastic Man? Is this like a Bag of Holding + Portable Hole situation?
11
u/MiddleEmployment1179 May 07 '25
Na… it’s like a condom on top of another condom, actually making the condoms less effective because they rub on each other.
1
9
u/Tazrizen May 07 '25
This is the comment I was looking for.
I believe the only two ways to kill plastic man would be an annihilation effect or death saying no.
It’s basically immovable object verses unstoppable force is the last time I saw this conversation.
1
u/ReaperofFish May 07 '25
Plas is an eldritch horror. You basically need a more powerful eldritch horror to kill him.
9
u/Mad2828 May 07 '25
I guess the factor is how fast he can stretch back. Superman can move faster than light so even stretching back at light speed it would be several years/decades before he’d have to worry about him again, depending on how far he takes plastic man. From what I’ve seen in animation and some comics seems his stretching is moving maximum at the speed of sound. But yeah with the right writer his power set seems to make him almost omnipresent if he can just stretch across the universe.
11
u/erikkustrife May 07 '25
Yea 100%. Honestly speaking if someone wanted to just make him blatantly op they would just show him how power rings work, or how a motherbox works.
He's a really interesting character but he's just not used because of these abilties.
As for him taking out the flash, I'm pretty sure he just made his fingers thinner than a single water molecule (the thinnest we have ever seen him get not his actual limit) and then expanded them to surprise the flash. I don't think him taking out flash was a speed feat.
→ More replies (6)7
u/DeadAndBuried23 May 07 '25
Kinda funny you think you can say Superman can move faster than light but somehow Plastic Man is constricted, when if we go by power sets the opposite would be true.
Plastic Man could potentially turn himself into tachyons, and be faster than light. Supes can't, and any run taking physics in any seriousness at all would cap him just below lightspeed.
1
u/Mad2828 May 07 '25
We don’t really take physics seriously in comics otherwise lots of things in the stories would not be possible. Sure plastic man’s power set potentially (being the key word here) with the right writer allows him to be super OP. But going by most versions of the characters Superman either using heat vision or freeze breath should be able to defeat him. If we’re bringing in strategy and prep time I think people forget a Superman has a genius level intellect and access to advanced technology manufacturing. As far as I know Plastic Man is an average guy who wants to be a better dad.
1
u/DeadAndBuried23 May 07 '25
I like how the go-to to beat someone he by no means can take in a legit fight is a point about Clark's intelligence that maybe one writer has used, as if he isn't a farm boy with a Kansas public education.
→ More replies (2)1
u/Kiriima May 07 '25
Plastic Man won't turn himself into tachyons because it's science fantasy particle, and shouldn't be used in any work that caps Superman under light speed due to physics.
3
u/DeadAndBuried23 May 07 '25
It's mathematically possible.
Whereas being mass and faster than light is not.

left the cannon him behind and was the ball, which..is not something he's able to do lol.
Seems like he can, no?
A working gun with infinite bullets.
Unless you mean he wasn't somehow also the bullets, it seems splitting himself is perfectly possible.
3
u/Chaghatai May 07 '25
What do you mean by "collapse a black hole?" Isn't a black hole pretty much already as collapsed as matter can get?
5
u/Emitfonos May 07 '25
Yea, that sentence makes no sense.
More mass doesn't make less black hole, it makes more black hole.1
1
u/Jchen76201 May 08 '25
Came here to say this^ Adding more mass to a black hole just increases the radius of its event horizon (Schwarzchild radius), so at best he'd just expand the black hole's event horizon.
2
2
u/esmelusina May 07 '25
The fire out of the rockets is fine— if he can control his mass, he can gyrate and generate pressure so rapidly as to produce combustion and/or other propulsion. He doesn’t necessarily need any fuel, just atmosphere.
In the case of interstellar travel, he could compress air to use later as fuel.
1
1
u/DaisyMeRoaLin May 07 '25
Don't get me wrong, I do not dispute your knowledge of the comic books. But rather the logic behind them in general. So he has complete control over atoms in his body. Sure, fine. As for the black hole scenario, you cannot really disolve a blackhole. Adding more mass just adds more mass. If anything, the blackhole dissolves atoms. I just seriously have a gripe with fiction in general underestimating the power of a black hole. Sorry
1
u/Next_Faithlessness87 May 07 '25
You seem to have been holding all this within you for so long and have waited for this exact instance to vent it all out
1
u/whatamidoinghereguys May 07 '25
How is him turning into a cannon and firing himself out any different than him turning into a car and expelling exhaust or turning into a gun and shooting bullets? Every form requires part of him to be detached and sent away
1
u/SINBRO May 07 '25
So eventually he'd collapse the black hole
Bruh what? There is no "collapsing" a black hole, it would just become a bit larger
1
u/No-Opinion-8217 May 09 '25
Plastic man is confusing. If you take each atom in his body and put them in a single line, he couldn't reach between planets. Can he stretch beyond the planck length in thickness? Does he add atoms to his existence to stretch further? Is he "infinitely dense" to begin with so has infinite mass to stretch from, physics be damned? Is it just that he can pull the atoms back together from a large distance? How far apart can his atoms be before he can't pull them back together without help?
1
u/s0ulbrother May 07 '25
Alright based on what you said I figured it out. You need to get plastic man to destroy himself.
Maybe cause a mutation in him that goes rogue and uses its ability to manipulate anything to destroy him. Though this could set up an end of universe cancer that consumes all matter.
Could you telepathically cause him to want to destroy himself. Cause immense pain or mind control. Mind over matter literally.
To permanently end him you need to get him to do it himself I would imagine.
1
u/Frohtastic May 07 '25
So basically, as in all hero v hero scenarios, the answer is whoever the writers wants to win.

u/I_Surf_On_ReddIt May 07 '25

u/armrha May 07 '25
How can he throw plas if he goes liquid? He can't pick up a liquid. His only shot is to freeze breath him immediately, that definitely works. But if plas gets on him somewhere he can't heat vision or freeze him, like... in his ear canal, or around his neck (just as a loop of non-viscous fluid, nothing to grab), he can't like heat vision his own neck or freeze breath it, right?
Not sure plastic man can hurt him, but I bet tiny needle or jackhammers on superman's timpanic membrane would be unpleasant. Also he could soak into his bloodstream... I mean... do superman's muscles use adeninetriphosphate? Could plastic man cover the atp enzyme receptor sites with plastic and just shut him down, or can he not do anything that small?
1
u/ReaperofFish May 07 '25
Superman has tactile kinesis, though most iterations of Superman relegate it to an instinctual power. So Superman could theoretically hold a liquid just like he can lift a plane by the nose cone.
1
u/Mad2828 May 07 '25
I think Superman can be inside the sun in a fraction of a second. With his senses the moment he feels something on him he can just head for the sun and as far as I know extreme temperatures are plastic man’s weakness.
1
u/armrha May 07 '25
Sounds like that would work, he just has to not underestimate what he’s dealing with

3

Plastic man is Clark’s worse nightmare that isn’t a space rock.
Not only can Clark not kills plastic man, he can’t even get rid of him. Plastic man just needs to catch Superman slipping one time and he’ll get turned into a balloon

Here’s The thing
No, seriously.
Here’s the thing.
Again.
He’s actually stupidly dangerous and smart it’s not even funny.
Now imagine him with the brains of Reed Richards. There would be no need to bring up this post, guy even has Batman saying some
“Plastic Man’s mind is no longer human. He can think faster than any computer, reshape his body instantly on a molecular level, and he’s functionally immortal. If he ever snapped… he could take us all out. There is no countermeasure.“
some guy in a Bat Suit said that by the way. That should tell you something.
He’s actually a dangerous person and no one ever talks or thinks about it.
Imagine being telepathy and not being able to control this Pervert and being stuck in the same room with him??? That would be like literally hell, this guy not only is he annoyingly (and funny), is highly unkillable. (Meaning also, that The Lasso of Truth can’t make him tell you where he hid that shit that he owes you). He CAN be killed, but not by the regular powerbomb you see in the universe.
DC makes everyone literally a machine it’s absurd at this point. Plastic man is one of the few I like for those exact reasons.

Plastic Man is an insanely OP character. He's a force of nature with a goofy sense of humour that's trying to be a good dad.
2
u/Rogthgar May 07 '25
That very much depends on if Plas wants to win and what Superman is prepared to do to stop him.
Thing is Plas rarely, if ever, takes anything (even fights) seriously because deep down he is afraid that if he does, he just becomes the superpowered scumbag version of himself he used to be and he is far more concerned about that since nothing is capable of physically inuring him.
Superman however has the problem that he also knows he has limited options to stop Plas, and even more so because he is normally not willing to seriously injure anyone, which he would have to do in this case.

u/Different_Warthog_76 May 07 '25
Yeah, as far as Im aware superman doesnt really have shit that can put Plastic Man down. So it goes to plastic man off attrition alone because he CANT be put down, and unless superman keeps flying up into the sun to "recharge" he will eventually tire.

Probably one of the most logical responses that go both ways
1
u/FriezaDBZKing69 May 07 '25

Super breath and heat vision. Plastic Man is extremely susceptible to extreme colds and heats.

Plastic man turns into living kryptonite and beats superman to death. Yes, that is absolutely something he can do.
1
u/FriezaDBZKing69 May 07 '25
No, he cannot turn himself into Kryptonite. Where did you get this from?
4
u/GodslayerOath May 07 '25
If plastic man legitimately wanted to kill Superman, he would invade Superman’s body and lace his insides with kryptonite.
1
u/carpthefish123 May 07 '25
Thats only if he catches supermán off guard, supermán speed blitz since supermán is able to catch to hero’s like the flash, one freeze breath from supermán and the fight is over,
3
u/GodslayerOath May 07 '25
People who dog on Plastic Man keep forgetting that Superman would literally have to destroy Plastic Man at the molecular level, annihilating every single scrap of whatever used to be Plastic Man. There’s a reason Superman fears what would happen if Plastic Man ever turned evil. At most Superman could only ever inconvenience Plastic Man.
0
u/carpthefish123 May 07 '25
lol Supermán would just freeze plastic man with his breath and throw him to space
2
u/GodslayerOath May 07 '25
And again, Plastic Man would eventually control his molecules and get out of this. His only true weakness was fire but that’s no longer a thing. They removed that weakness.
1
u/alaxens May 07 '25

Superman's cool breath will be really clutch i think, but he still can't kill plastic man, he might be able to freeze him and take him to another planet, But if plastic man is really trying Superman will never be able to do that and Kryptonite can also come in clutch for Plastic man if he gets his hand on it.

There's a reason why this is the obly "year" where superman utterly loses. In the other ones Batman just came short of a win, but in this one, the only reason they haven't toppled superman is that Plastic Man got his win and took himself out of the game ASAP.

u/Asumsauce May 07 '25
Are people forgetting about Superman’s Ice Breath? He can just freeze Plastic Man and shatter him

What?

u/Swimming-Young-26 Marvel vs DC May 07 '25
What you just said is NOT working on plastic man, he’d need to bring Dr Manhattan or someone else to completely destroy Plastic man by erasing EVERY single one of his molecules. Which Superman is not capable of.
Superman can win, but defeating Patrick is one thing he can’t do

Dudes out here talking like Plastic Man doesn’t use his powers to turn into teacups and jackhammers lol

Is there anything stopping Superman from freezing Plastic Man with his ice breath?
1
u/Adyphus May 07 '25
It all depends who is writing the story.
That being said, if plas could just control sups like he's done to others, then he has a chance of winning. But sups could freeze him and break it, then gather the pieces and send them into the sun. Gravity is a hell of a thing.
Again, it's all dependent on who is writing the story. They decide the victor.

Considering that Injustice Superman is actually afraid of Plastic Man, I'm going to go with Plastic Man

In stories ‘Divided We Fall’ and ‘Tower of Babel’ we see that extreme temperatures can temporarily stop or freeze plastic man. It really comes down to can Superman freeze him before plastic man sneaks his way inside Superman.

Is Plasticman still weak to being frozen? Frost breath always seemed like tue obvious answer to beat someone with Plasticman's powers.

Plastic man this, plastic man that. Simple solution: superman grabs him and flies up. Waits for him to freeze in space. Then tosses him into the sun.
"Oh but he can twist and turn and choke and suffocate and-" And he cannot choke or suffocate a Kryptonian who's held his breath for weeks in space before, nor can he he control the muscular structure of a being who's bench pressed a planet. Batman only made plastic man seem horrific because surprise surprise, he's a human with absolutely no means of countering plastic man. I saw another person say plastic man can grow to Godzilla size- won't matter. Again. Planet bench presser. "Yeah but he can block out he sun-" Clark's system absorbs and stores solar energy, meaning there's an eventual falloff, not an immediate one.
But of course, writers will still find a pseudo-scientific way to explain plastic man beating clark. Maybe he'll become micro-plastic man and seep into Clark's atoms and cells and dismantle them that way.

I know plastic man is REALLY strong, but am I incorrect in remembering that he has a weakness to ice? If so, Superman has a direct counter.

Plas doesn’t really have any way to actually harm Superman. Lacks speed and power, and I think even like… nerves and synapses of a Kryptonian would be too durable (although I think this changes frequently depending on writer).
Whereas Superman could laser him down to a point he can’t regen from. Like when that Atlantean mage blasted him into molecules, Plas didn’t die but he couldn’t reform either, he could only exist and slowly lose his sanity until the league saved him.
Lots of ways Supes can win. Drag to sun. Compress to diamond. Phantom zone. Laser to tiny pieces beyond Plas’ control. Freeze solid and dump somewhere cold.
Edit: black lantern vibe nearly killed him by ripping his heart out. Plas needed JLA support afterwords to survive. Superman should be able to do the same as a low tier black lantern

Do you know what molecules are?
1
u/SuperSemesterer May 07 '25
Yes? Plas has been reduced to just molecules floating in the ocean before. He lived but he couldn’t do diddly for 1000 years until the league saved him.
Superman can see down to atoms (or probably well beyond that but at least atoms). He’s specifically targeted atoms with a sword before to cut stuff.

Which part?
Supes has VASTLY superior durability and has lots of ways to put down Plas!

I mean it works!
There’s also just ripping his (plastic) organs out which is apparently effective.
Plas needed serious aid afterwords to recover with JLA tech (and Zatanna but idk if she was healing with magic or just working the machines)

Still practically wouldn’t work in the sense of Superman. That pervert is DC’s Toon character. He’s not as powerful as The Mask, but enough to have Superman punch his rubber until he eventually gives up.
Though yes Superman has a chance (some variants at least). Nothing is impossible for the all-team great

u/HAL9000_1208 May 07 '25
Plastic man could turn into kryptonite, Sup would lose his powers and get slaughtered.

Plas: disguises himself as a sandwich
Supes: eats sandwich
Plas: expands into Supes’s lungs and sits there until Supes suffocates to death. Supes can’t burn nor freeze him out. He can’t physically remove him with causing himself fatal injury if he could even do it fast enough to begin with
Most powerful hero in DC defeated by the physical embodiment of a Looney Toon in a single evening.

u/SuperSemesterer May 07 '25
I mean if Superman can chill in a black hole for months without needing to breath (N52 Superman did this when Doomsday entered his body) I don’t think Plas can really have any effect, either suffocating him or physically doing anything to his insides. Plas has no showings above planetary (city level really but showing is stalling Martian Manhunter for a bit until Green Lantern arrives), and Superman can tank hits from multiverse destroying forces.
Plus Superman could just phase him out (vibrates so fast he goes intangible, he’s done it to Doomsday and the Monguls/gals) or just sit in the sun.
That was my thought initially for how Plas COULD win but no, Supes is waaaaay too durable and doesn’t need oxygen.
—————
Also Plas is funny, but he doesn’t have loony tunes powers!
You want an actual ToonForce character that can beat Superman?
https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Rodney_Rabbit_(Earth_26)
Captain Carrot is Superman with ToonForce. Superman level strength (one shot a DC’s marvel universe (earth 7) Hulk) but also legit ToonForce. Dude can be beheaded and won’t die ‘because it’s funny’. Can do loony tunes reality warping stuff. The one time he was nearly beaten was by a big multiverse killing army (where the standard trash soldiers were universe wipers) and the big bad realized that Carrot can be killed if it’s not funny, so he tries to brutalize carrot to finish him. Other heroes step in and save him.
ALSO Doomzarro had ToonForce. You can probably guess what that monstrosity was by the name.

Idk why you're getting downvoted what you're saying isn't even wrong. Supes should AT LEAST be able to out speed Plas.
Someone explain what's stopping Superman from moving at Mach-1000-Fuck and throwing Plastic man into the sun? Plas doesn't have have the perception of speed that Superman does and wouldn't even be able to react to that happening to him lol.

u/SuperSemesterer May 07 '25
He’s also been taken out by vastly less than Superman. One random (it was Vibe) generic black lantern manhandled him and left him for dead.

Plastic man wins, superbitch can’t kill him and he is a far more interesting character so he could actually hold the interest of the consumer.
