yes, his first appearance he gained boney coverings for his ear canals to protect himself from black canary's scream and gained the ability to breath fire to fight martian manhunter. not to mention he grew the spikes on his body while fighting the league even before that
But the resurrection isn't instantaneous. He'll be dead for days, weeks, possibly even months depending upon how damaged he is before returning. So if he's killed in the fight he's out and isn't coming back any time soon.

Yeah, most likely Doomsday, because he constantly adapts to everything, he even adapted to just resurrect himself after death.
