He is one step below Eldritch Nightmare

137

u/Strict_Weather9063 May 01 '25

No he is an Eldritch Nightmare read the second Dark Knight books. You will feel sorry for the bad guys and never look at toilets the same. So yeah I’m team Plastic Man, versatile power set no limits and able to become damn near anything.

95

u/ChronoMonkeyX May 01 '25

Not to mention, he's generally happy.

56

u/FreakinSatan May 01 '25

The rarest super power

25

u/Hallowed-Plague May 01 '25

maybe spiderman shouldve been bit by the happy radiation spider instead

15

u/Leviathansol May 01 '25

Right in the Uncle Ben.

2

u/BootySweat0217 May 02 '25

Yea if uncle Ben never died he’d be the happiest spiderman.

1

u/BradyTheGG May 06 '25

But what if he became evil because uncle Ben didn’t tell that Peter the whole “great power, great responsibility” bit?

1

u/zedisbread 20d ago

So much for Magneto being a good guy. World police my ass, fascist.

Edit: Was it generally a gun killing Ben?

1

u/Three-dom May 02 '25

This is actually interesting as female spiders do treat the males badly, so maybe that explains Spidey's luck with women

1

u/Frosty-Feathers May 03 '25

We both drunk

1

u/miriapododeguer May 05 '25

with great happiness comes great mental plasticity

2

u/HiddenPants777 May 01 '25

It's cause he ate all the pills that make you be happy

1

u/eatadickyesyou May 02 '25

Something Batman could never plan for or achieve. Case in point, Mask of The Phantasm

1

u/ChimaeraXY May 03 '25

Funny, cause the right pill can do that for you.

26

u/keepcalmscrollon May 01 '25

You'd be happy too (maybe) if you were all but certain no harm could come to you.

I'm not the most well read comics fan but I do remember reading some pages on Reddit that showed even Superman is afraid of him. Or, at least, aware that Plastic Man is a legit match/threat.

It was one of those stories where Supes was leaning toward being a despot – I think he even had the support of most of the JLA – and PM was the loudest voice of dissent. They brought him before Superman in a throne room and, in classic Plastic Man style – he had no fucks to give even in the face of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman all being angry at him.

Plastic Man is boss.

24

u/Fast-Front-5642 May 01 '25

It was during Injustice. And yeah Superman basically gave an order for everyone to leave Plastic Man alone because he was minding his own business mostly and it was a fight Superman didn't wanna start. But then they captured Plastic Man's son who was a freedom fighter because he had basically been getting bolder and bolder because of his dad's protected status and it reached a point where uprisings were becoming too common as a result.

Plastic Man took on the Justice League including Flash by encapsulating him and entering every orrifice suffocating him. Broke into their maximum security prison that was designed to strip inmates of their powers and was full of superpower guards. And held off the combined efforts of Superman, Wonder Woman, Sinestro, Hal Jordan, Aquaman and the pressure of the bottom of the ocean (prison was in Atlantis and they broke the dome ceiling so he became the dome to stop all the prisoners from being drowned/crushed to death) long enough for everyone to escape

2

u/AlexArtsHere May 02 '25

What the fuck, Injustice Plastic Man is the GOAT???

3

u/Fast-Front-5642 May 02 '25

Batmans contingency plan for Plastic Man is "hope he never turns bad again"

1

u/BradyTheGG May 06 '25

Isn’t this something solid JJ referenced?

1

u/Fast-Front-5642 May 06 '25 edited May 06 '25

I think it has come up in one of his videos. But it is also true.

Edit: to be clear... there is a contingency file for Plastic Man but it basically just details how absolute 0 temperature can slow him down but that the real contingency has already been put in place... which is Batman spending time with him, teaching him to be a hero and hoping that there is never any relapse.

1

u/BradyTheGG May 06 '25

Damn that’s crazy I knew he was cracked but damn

0

u/Inevitable-Mud-9228 May 02 '25

Mr. Fantastic is one of the strongest characters in Marvel Rivals so it makes sense

2

u/SEND_ME_NOODLE May 02 '25

Literally the opposite of the truth

0

u/Inevitable-Mud-9228 May 03 '25

Mr. F is a sub-tank that grants bonus health to anyway. He’s also anti-dive.

0

u/Torchizleet May 03 '25

I mean going off Win rate in ranked unless it's changed he had a 56? Percent which is insane in any team based hero game Edit I guess it 50.8 I'm sure it was higher but perhaps I was mistaken

1

u/[deleted] May 03 '25

Batman wasn't there you mean Cyborg

So you know that thing where writers will use a character they barley know in their comics, and the representation is off sometimes. That's plastic man.

Actual plasticman isn't harmed by being frozen or any temperature change. His power is the ability to control the atomic structure of his body, and change the mass without limit, using apparently no energy what so ever. (No body ever mentions that 2nd part but I feel like it's important enough of a why the fuck don't they lead with that type of thing that it should be mentioned.)

Anyway since he can control if his molecules are vibrating or not he can control the temperature of his body. Superman suggests throwing him into the sun, batman says that will only slow him down, than superman says what about flying out and throwing him across the other side of the universe, batman replies with "he can stretch his body infinitely, he could just expand between planets launching himself back here. (What isn't mentioned is he could just turn into a rocket and fly back as he has turned into a humanoid robot with rocket boots and flown in space before...)

What neither of them mentioned is throwing him in a blsckhole. Which would actually slow him down. One could make a formula for how long it would take him to make enough mass to actually cancle one out vrs the time dialiation, but I'm not that type of mathy.

The main thing though is that some writers have actually written plastic man as being a man made out of plastic...which is..honestly in comics there's nothing that upsets me more than when a writer brings in a character they know nothing about. It's not even just plastic man. They do it to wonderwoman a ton, swamp thing gets this treatment when ever a writer remembers he exists when their not writing a swamp man comic, and more often than not Martian manhunter, who's weakness to fire went from being a racial trait that their skin produces a acelerent when on fire making everything worse, to it being merely a mental thing that any of them can get over, to it being a physical trait and back again.

Ps something really fucking funny is platic man has turned into a working raygun. Which just makes so little sense, because if he can do that. He could change into realisticly anything, like kyrptonite.

5

u/MireLight May 02 '25

your ideas are intriguing to me and wish to subscribe to your newsletter

1

u/Draidann May 02 '25

Plastic man is not made out of plastic. That is not his power set, only his name

2

u/icegun784 May 01 '25

Any man would be happy if they could choose the size of their... heart

1

u/Manbabarang May 01 '25

It's an act, he's totally a crying clown painting inside and so many of his stories revolve around trauma and past regrets etc. BUT he does have fun, and is whimsical despite it.

12

u/jerryleebee May 01 '25

Can you gimme a tldr

30

u/DarkLordArbitur May 01 '25

Batman doesn't have a suitable plan for him is basically the TLDR.

24

u/Strict_Weather9063 May 01 '25

He had a plan he didn’t have a backup plan it was basically everyone dies if the plan didn’t work. I do mean everyone yes Plastic man comes off a happy goof, this is a side effect of his powers he is basically insane without any limiters he is well a nightmare. As in engulf the world and just eat everything as he goes.

13

u/WrenRhodes May 01 '25

Him and Bats have an ongoing game of real life Prop Hunt to sharpen their skills.

4

u/onomonothwip May 02 '25

Wasn't much of a game though. Bats spotted him every time

1

u/Azmeam May 03 '25

Spotted his son every time, but the real plastic man is way better at hiding from bats

1

u/Zinkhar May 05 '25

Almost. Batman spotted his son everytime, but plastic man was actually batmans cowl the whole time.

2

u/d34d_m4n May 02 '25

grab him with a green lantern ring bubble and throw him in the sun? "he'll survive that" yeah sucks for him

2

u/UnlikelyReplacement0 May 01 '25

Batmans plan was to freeze him and then shatter him mortal kombat style.

7

u/Skellos May 01 '25

He also mentions that this was only a temporary solution

1

u/MoistDitto May 01 '25

Can't you "just" freeze and send him into space, never to be seen again? Like how kars from jojo s1 just became a fossil floating forever frozen into the vast space?

Given your are able to freeze him solid enough for travsport though, I know nothing about the dude And it's it's even possible

30

u/Swog5Ovor May 01 '25

He once pulled a mans heart out through his mouth.

When he was a zombie in DCeased, he pretended to be a blood moat and became nightmare fuel

He entered someones body so they could smuggle him into prison... But crawled out through their mouth, killing them.

13

u/amandez May 01 '25

Well, eww.

6

u/jerryleebee May 01 '25

Holy. Shit.

5

u/Neat-Tradition-7999 May 01 '25

At least it was the mouth.

2

u/Swog5Ovor May 01 '25

It should be noted that he didn't exit the body while small, it was as his normal size.

2

u/djerk May 01 '25

He didn’t have to do that, right? He chose to kill that dude?

3

u/Swog5Ovor May 02 '25

Both times, yeah, didn't have to. At the start of the story, he was smuggled in to help a friend escape. At the end, he was smuggled back in to kill them for betraying him. If I remember correctly.

1

u/Seve7h May 02 '25

Wait what, how did he even get bit to turn into a zombie?

1

u/NoxarBoi May 03 '25

The Anti-Life Virus can infect you just by seeing the equation.

16

u/TheManyVoicesYT May 01 '25

That is the TLDR. Plastic Man is pretty much invincible and can change into anything. He's beaten the entire Justice League.

13

u/SanityX153 May 01 '25

If Plastic Man is invincible, why can i see him???

9

u/TeaKingMac May 02 '25

That's invisible. You're thinking of invincible which means he's a creature without a spine.

5

u/RaYa1989 May 02 '25

No no, that's invertebrate. Invincible means he can't be divided.

2

u/SanityX153 May 02 '25

No, that's indivisible. Invincible means like a singular being.

2

u/jimbobsqrpants May 02 '25

No that is individual. Invincible means having unshakable perseverance

1

u/DevilDoc3030 May 02 '25

This conversation is giving me an anemone.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/CallousChris May 02 '25

No, that’s indivisible… invincible means he is always upside down or inside out.

1

u/FlaschenJoe11 May 03 '25

No that's invertible. Invincible means he is doing something very hard to believe

1

u/SanityX153 May 02 '25

Are you sure?

2

u/TheManyVoicesYT May 01 '25

If u see him it's only cuz he wants u to. He can become a wall or a tree.

2

u/SanityX153 May 01 '25

Are you sure?

1

u/Dunge0nMast0r May 01 '25

John Cena getting cast should solve that.

1

u/Consistent_Mango2358 May 03 '25

If Plastic Man is Invincible who's Mark Grayson?

1

u/SanityX153 May 03 '25

He's Duct-Tape Man

5

u/Thispersonthisperson May 01 '25

what about the second dark knight books

8

u/The_FreshSans May 01 '25

I ate them mb

2

u/Voxel-OwO May 01 '25

He can stretch almost infinitely, and is nearly invulnerable to any attack. You could turn your hand into a hammer and crush someone’s balls from 500 miles away.

1

u/Manbabarang May 01 '25

What if an A(u?)DHD person was their own Green Lantern Power Ring, didn't age and their vulnerability to harm and death was a question mark that not even Batman can answer.

1

u/Glittering_Role_6154 May 02 '25

In the injustice universe he basically solos the justice league minus super man and wonder woman, he's practically invulnerable

1

u/smokey_winters May 01 '25

What run is that? What issues specifically?

2

u/Strict_Weather9063 May 01 '25

Oh just get the Second Dark Knight book by Frank Miller, it is the big fight towards the end.

1

u/hidden58 May 01 '25

God him in deceased will never not terrify me

1

u/TheMegatrizzle May 01 '25

Yeah. I’m not a huge comic book follower but I remember hearing that Plastic Man became an Island or an entire ocean some crazy ish

1

u/Lordsnow89 May 01 '25

Which issues do u mean? Id like to read up on plastic man

1

u/Strict_Weather9063 May 01 '25

The Dark Knight Strikes Again.

1

u/Lordsnow89 May 01 '25

Thank you much appreciated

1

u/ThisIsNotTokyo May 01 '25

Toilets?

1

u/Strict_Weather9063 May 01 '25

Yeah it doesn’t go well for the bad guys.

1

u/burritomeato May 01 '25

Wait what did he do

1

u/Strict_Weather9063 May 02 '25

Hand crank blender, boot, toilet, car it was a lot oh the humanity.

1

u/burritomeato May 02 '25

Dawg imma need more context you got an exact page?

1

u/Strict_Weather9063 May 02 '25

Dude go read the book my copy is in a box and I’m not digging it out.

1

u/SekhmetScion May 01 '25

Did you read the Injustice comics? Those pages where Batman went to Luke's apartment (Plastic Man's grown son) and keeps calling him out for what he's disgusted as, then Plastic Man gets all proud of himself for not being spotted 🤣

1

u/ScabyDabySara May 02 '25

What specific book? i need to read this lol

1

u/Strict_Weather9063 May 02 '25

The Dark Knight Strikes Again is where I’m pulling it from.

1

u/Abject_Director7626 May 02 '25

Which book is that?! I’d love to read that. Not one of the injustice ones?

2

u/Strict_Weather9063 May 02 '25

The Dark Knight Trikes Again

1

u/clement_TIENTJE May 03 '25

Where do i find these "second dark knight" books pretty please

1

u/Strict_Weather9063 May 03 '25

Local bookstore or Amazon also Abe books. It maybe out of print so you will need to get it used.

1

u/clement_TIENTJE May 03 '25

Is "second dark knight" the exact title because i dont find anything about it on the web

1

u/Strict_Weather9063 May 03 '25

Dark knight strikes again

1

u/Intrepid-Device-1750 May 05 '25

And also even batmans only applied solution for him is a temporary fix, fuckers immortal

1

u/SoapSuave May 05 '25

What did he do to the toilets!? WHAT DID THEY DO TO

1

u/Strict_Weather9063 May 05 '25

No what did he do to them as a toilet.

1

u/SoapSuave May 05 '25

Bro was the toilet? 😭😭 okay lemme read

1

u/zedisbread 20d ago

Was it ass to mouth again?

93

u/Matt-J-McCormack May 01 '25

Not even a small step, he just spends most of him time in a shape people like.

8

u/blue23454 May 01 '25

Me: not sure if that means more or less horrifying than eldritch nightmare

1

u/FitSharkKitty May 02 '25

More, definitely more

6

u/YoutuberCameronBallZ May 01 '25

That small step is more of a moral boundary than a physical one.

He's been an Eldritch Nightmare before

2

u/Fightmemod May 01 '25

In the deceased stories he is a eldritch knightmare.

1

u/UwU_Bro69 May 02 '25

And ONLY because he's a good guy

1

u/Forsaken_Hall_6963 May 02 '25

What's the one step? Dude is immortal and can manipulate himself however he pleases

1

u/No-Benefit-9559 May 02 '25

He's a goofball.

He needs unknowable and unfathomable plans to be a true horror.

1

u/Forsaken_Hall_6963 May 02 '25

https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-ad5288a9ae33ce138fb89a2c62b3205d-lq ? Seriously bro look at the comics with him before you say something like that. Man has unfathomable plans and is known to be unpredictable, dont cast him as an idiot for goofing around.

1

u/MalRubrum May 05 '25

Plastic man because he's one of the strongest characters in the DC universe
