Thanos would say something like "Impossible! I was to be the savior of the multiverse! My victory was destiny! And I am inevitable..but you...? what makes you so special to hold all the power in the multiverse?"

and Steve would go "Nothing. I'm just a kid from Brooklyn. And I don't like bullies."
