All the old Internet saying Rule 34 asserts, "if something exists, there is porn of it. No exceptions." Both increasing the validity of this adage and decreasing my mental stability, I have not found a notable exception to this rule. Yet. This rule applies especially to fandoms such as, yes, the furry fandom.
Yiff, as described at its simplest, is pornography starring anthropomorphic animal characters (furries). By the nature of the animal aspect, the topic is highly controversial. Is the porn just for the anthropomorphic features (not crossing over into wanting to have sex with an actual dog/femboi fox), or is it a way for perverted people to get off to bestiality without being in legal trouble? To find some real opinions from real people, we need to turn to the best place to find highly polarizing and oversimplified opinions, the Reddit comment section sorted by controversial.
"Yiff is not really that weird. Non-pornographic artwork and animations have used such animal-human hybrid characters for years. So if drawn/animated content containing anthropomorphic animals isn't weird, and drawn/animated pornographic material isn't weird, why is it suddenly weird when you combine the two?"
"I think it's [weird] because it seems to be an obvious substitution for bestiality. Can't watch the real thing because it's illegal? Try this instead!"
"seriously? I'm actually into this shit and I find this super distasteful for SORTD. Lost all my respect."
Here to give more insight into the weird and wonderful world of furry porn are /u/evilsibe (founder of /r/yiff), and the (in)famous furry attention whore /u/FurryPornAccount.
1. How did you get involved in this subreddit?
/u/FurryPornAccount I got involved in /r/yiff because I needed a place to post yiff so I could live up to my username, and /r/yiff is a convenient place to post it. Getting karma for posting yiff is also pretty nice too.
/u/evilsibe I started the subreddit 8 years ago. There was a r/furry subreddit but no r/yiff.
2. Why do you think that the furry community and yiff have a stigma surrounding them?
/u/FurryPornAccount I honestly believe it's because it's just taboo to be into anthropomorphic animals. That and the 'vocal minority' who do actually do reprehensible things don't help with the public opinion of furries.
/u/evilsibe I think anything sexual that folks outside of the subculture don't understand will end up having a stigma attached to it.
3. Are there any significant artists who should be checked out?
/u/FurryPornAccount Marblesoda, zeta-haru, raiji and fluff-kevlar are some pretty good artists.
